Reality Augments were a Gameplay Mechanic in Fortnite: Battle Royale. They were introduced in Chapter 4: Season 1. Augments were a dynamic system of buffing the player in various chosen ways as the match progressed.
Functionality[]
Augments modified each player's gameplay in various ways, enabling a choice of one of two augments every 2.5 minutes, up to 10 minutes. If players did not like the choice of Augments, they could reroll them. Rerolling was free every first roll in a match, but cost 100 Bars afterwards. Players would receive 4 augments by the end of the match, and these augments could change anything from item drop chance, to player movement.
Players would slowly receive new augments as they played the game, adding to their collection of them.

Strategy Guide[]
Pros[]
- The effects of Bloodhound can also be triggered by the explosives from a Mechanical Explosive Bow.
- Players can work to spec out certain weapon types through the augments collected, such as grabbing Bow Specialist, Mechanical Archer and Bloodhound to get maximum potential out of their bows. Players can also spec into Assault Weapons with First Assault and Rifle Recycle, or spec into Pistols with Pistol Amp and Light Fingers.
- Equipping Soaring Sprints with Party Time can allow for great amounts of traversal across the map.
- Bush Warrior and Forecast can allow a player to hide out in the storm and avoid combat, as they will stay relatively healed and be in the centre of the storm at all times.
- Tricked out and Supercharged can allow players to take maximum advantage of vehicles, and potentially working with a squad to not stack these effects can result in one player buffing vehicles for everyone else.
- If one member of your squad is prone to being eliminated, suggest they use Tactical Armory, Mechanical Archer or Chug Gunner, as all of them provide benefits after being rebooted.
- Alternatively, they may find great use out of Pistol Amp or Light Fingers due to the Common Tactical Pistol gained after respawning.
Cons[]
- Many specs do not provide benefits when playing in a squad if multiple players take them at the same time:
- Tricked out and Supercharger will be useless if two players use them in a squad and enter the same vehicle, as their effects do not stack.
- Storm Mark can allow a greater range of pinging on a new storm circle, but it will not extend the duration. Furthermore your squad will likely be close to each other and the effect will not be boosted much.
- If you are using the Shadow Tracker, avoid Bloodhound, as the Shadow Tracker fills the role much more effectively.

Trivia[]
- The icon for Jelly Angler was previously very low quality and poorly edited in game, despite its actual icon being identical to its old one, minus the x2.
- Jelly Angler did not provide progress for fishing based quests.
- The Aerialist and Pistol Amp augment icons appeared to be recolored versions of Spy Games icons.
- Reality Augments are also known as Perks, with the name taken from other popular games. However, because the word 'Perk' is officially used to refer to the Perk Recombobulator in Save the World, using the word 'Perk' to refer to Reality Augments is only used by the community.
- In Chapter 5: Season 1, Augments were teased to return with "Coming Soon" being displayed in the Collection menu. However, in v28.10, this was removed as Fortnite are currently re-evaluating Augments in Battle Royale.
