Buried Treasure is a Consumable item in Fortnite: Battle Royale. It was added in Season 8. The Mythic version of this item is Avengers Buried Treasure.
Functionality[]
Buried Treasure is used to uncover a Treasure Chest, which provides the player with high tier loot. Collecting a Buried Treasure map highlights an area on the island with a golden colored beam, similar to a map marker made by a squad member. It also shows a dotted line in the direction of the treasure when held and the attack button is pressed, similar to a Keycard. When the area is approached, there will be a large black painted cross on the floor, and the player must dig out the treasure with their Harvesting Tool.
Buried Treasure could give up to four Epic or Legendary weapons.

During Chapter 4: Season 1, the Buried Treasure could only be found when using the Peely's Plunder Augment.
Strategy Guide[]
- Buried Treasure is ideally found in the early or mid-game when your weapon rarity is only Rare or lower.
- If you obtain the Buried Treasure and you already have high-tier weaponry, it's usually not worth going out of your way to uncover the treasure.
- While playing building playlists, make sure to build a box around yourself before digging up the Buried Treasure to prevent you from being shot while out in the open.
- While carrying the Buried Treasure, you don't need to worry about opponents stealing your treasure before you dig it up; the Buried Treasure's "X" on the ground is only visible to you until you begin digging.
