Canting is a Gameplay Mechanic in Fortnite: Battle Royale and Creative that was introduced in Chapter 6: Season 1.

Functionality[]

Canting allows the player to enable/disable the scope, removing ADS Accuracy and moving them back to the 3rd person camera. Currently, all weapons that use Chapter 5 Optics have Canting functionality. Additionally, Canting a weapon with a Sniper Optic will disable Sniper Glare.

Canting is useful for close range fights, as scopes can sometimes get in the way when up close and some people have their scope sensitivity different to that of their ADS sensitivity. It is also useful for players who are not as good at the game that find difficulty in aligning their crosshair on their opponent and rely on bloom to hit players, or for players who simply prefer to not use scopes.
