Lyrics[]

("Carry On Wayward Son" by Kansas)

Carry On Wayward Son - Kansas
[Intro]
Carry on, my wayward son
There'll be peace when you are done
Lay your weary head to rest
Don't you cry no more

[Instrumental Break]
[Guitar Solo]

[Verse 1]
Once I rose above the noise and confusion
Just to get a glimpse beyond this illusion
I was soaring ever higher but I flew too high
Though my eyes could see, I still was a blind man
Though my mind could think, I still was a mad man
I hear the voices when I'm dreaming
I can hear them say

[Chorus]
Carry on, my wayward son
There'll be peace when you are done
Lay your weary head to rest
Don't you cry no more

[Verse 2]
Masquerading as a man with a reason
My charade is the event of the season
And if I claim to be a wise man, well
It surely means that I don't know
On a stormy sea of moving emotion
Tossed about I'm like a ship on the ocean
I set a course for winds of fortune
But I hear the voices say

[Chorus]
Carry on, my wayward son
There'll be peace when you are done
Lay your weary head to rest
Don't you cry no more, no!

[Instrumental Break]
[Organ Solo]
[Guitar Solo]

[Bridge]
Carry on, you will always remember
Carry on, nothing equals the splendor
Now your life's no longer empty
But surely heaven waits for you

[Chorus]
Carry on, my wayward son
There'll be peace when you are done
Lay your weary head to rest
Don't you cry, don't you cry no more

[Instrumental Break]
[Guitar Solo]

[Outro]
No more

Vocals: Steve Walsh and Robby Steinhardt
Production: Kansas and Jeff Glixman

Item Shop Appearances[]

Carry on Wayward Son has appeared in 295 different Item Shops, on 264 different days.

Why are there shops labelled as 'parts'?
For varying reasons, Epic Games may decide to add or remove items from the Item Shop before the usual rotation occurs. The Fortnite Wiki treats each change to the Item Shop within a single day as a separate 'part' that makes up the day's Item Shop History.
Why are there two different numbers for Carry on Wayward Son's appearances?
Carry on Wayward Son has, on at least one occasion, appeared in more than one shop in a single day. This has resulted in its count for appearances in the Item Shop being higher than the amount of days it has appeared in it. Both counts are listed by the Fortnite Wiki in order to be as accurate as possible, unlike other sources.

Trivia[]

  • The song previously appeared as both a base song in Rock Band 2 (exportable to future mainline titles) and DLC in Rock Band 4, another series by Fortnite Festival developer Harmonix.
    • This means that its appearance in Jam Mode marks the song's first usage in a loop-based Harmonix title.
