Chapter 2: Season 2, also known as Season 12 in the game files, with the slogan "Top Secret", is the twelfth season of Fortnite: Battle Royale, which started on February 20th, 2020, and ended on June 17th, 2020. (Close to 17 weeks)
Previously the start date was meant to be on December 13th, 2019, but was postponed to February 6th, 2020 to make way for the holidays and the Live At Risky event. Then, on January 24th, 2020, Epic Games announced that they would postpone it again to February 20th, 2020 to reveal secrets from the previous season and test Unreal Engine’s Chaos physics system.
It was originally set to end on April 30th, 2020, but possibly due to players complaining about having little xp to earn the Golden Agent Styles of the Battle Pass Outfits, as well as issues revolving around COVID-19, it was extended. Unlike last season, the expansion came with more challenges, more ways to earn XP and more updates with content. It was extended another time, due to the next season being unready. It was then extended yet again due to "the ongoing injustice in society," implying the George Floyd protests.
The theme revolved around Secret Agents concerning E.G.O. and A.L.T.E.R..
Previously, in Fortnite...
Peely and Jonesy had parted ways for sometime after the events of Season 9. Peely has been going his own way, The life of a banana. After a long journey, from flying through a black hole to becoming an undead creature, he had found himself working at an agency...
Meanwhile, The Seven had successfully destroyed The Zero Point, causing The Blackout and sent players to a new island. The black hole revealed the shape of the new map throughout its stay and teased the Eye Land. On the new island, things are different. There are two sides, A.L.T.E.R. and E.G.O. The two are military agencies trying to battle each other.
How did it start?
In the previous season, we saw the birth of an all-new island due to the events of The End. One of the POIs is the Eye Land located at the center of the island. Near the end of the season, some of the props in the Eye Land turned into gold, which is a referrence to King Midas, who can turn anything he touches into gold.
In an unexpected turn of events, it became The Agency with Midas as the leader. Lynx ran from an army of Sledges, but upon being activated, she put on her cat suit and killed the hunters. Peely drank some Slurp Juice, but like Lynx, he put on his agent suit through a trapdoor. You could also see Deadpool making an appearance for a brief amount of time. Bendie was caught by Brutus in Lockie's Lighthouse, and due to the call, Brutus had to let go of Bendie, dropping him down to the ground. Journey is joined with Turk, Rippley, and 8-Ball in a Motorboat, but Journey has to leave the Motorboat due to the activation, simply walking off of it as if the water in front of her is land. Bushranger, who is using camouflage by hiding in front of a tree, walks away as he is called to arrive at The Agency, revealing the wood art on the tree.
Midas is joined with Meowscles and the new members. Chapter 2 - Season 2 begins here.

- Removed Locations
- New Landmarks
New Features & Changes
General
- The Hideout: The Battle Pass tab received a new look. You can access challenges, the Battle Pass, and more all in one place.
- Shakedown: You can shakedown players (only in non-solo modes) to discover their teammates' locations. You can do this for henchmen too to see the chests in that location and other henchmen.
- Bosses and Henchmen: Each Base contains many Henchmen and a Boss, which, when killed, will drop a Mythic weapon plus a Vault Card. Henchmen are AIs, they act like normal players, and they can be DBNO'd (Down But Not Out), even in game modes which usually don't have DBNO.
- Vaults: Contains large chests, regular chests, and a Supply Drop that all contain various goodies! They can be opened with Keycards obtained from the location's boss.
- Sentry Cameras: Found in Bases. When one spots a player, it will sound a loud signal and alert nearby Bosses and Henchmen. They have 40 HP each.
- Sentry Turrets: Found on ceilings, near Vaults. They act like Security Cameras, but instead of sending a signal, it shoots a non-stop laser at you that does a lot of damage and can quickly break down walls. They have 2,000 HP but can be turned off by a Defensive Power Generator.
Features
- Throwable Consumables: Remember the Bandage Bazooka? You can now throw other consumables at other people from far away now! Shields and Bandages, you name it!
- ID Scanner: Chests or doors that are locked by scanners that require a disguise to open, or a Knocked/Downed Henchman.
- Secret Passages: They appear in the form of regular Porta-Potties and Dumpsters and will transport you to the nearest porta-potty or dumpster. Not all are secret passages!
- Phone Booths: Use these to disguise as Henchmen. Disguised players will become invisible to Henchmen. Disguises wear off when dealing or taking damage, or making physical contact with a Henchman.
Cosmetics
- Ghost and Shadow: In Battle Pass Outfits, you could complete each agent's set of missions in order to choose between either Ghost or Shadow as the allegiance for the outfit. Be careful! After making your choice, you cannot revert it.
- Rideable Gliders: You stand on top of them instead of hanging down below them.
- Forged Outfits: Each season, one cosmetic will be able to customized to your choosing, as long as you have a Battle Pass. Once you choose an option for your cosmetic, you will not be able to change that option again.

Teaser 1 shows a resemblance of Midas, as well as the words, “Transmission Intercepted.”
Teasers 2-4 are for Brutus. The second one shows a bunch of pieces of his logo jumbled up, with an outline of his logo. The fan base eventually put all the pieces together, however, they assumed it was Chaos Agent instead of Brutus. The word ”Henchmen” is also scattered around the teaser in different languages. Teaser 3 shows a less blurred version of his face in the previous one, as well as snippets of the Mountain Raid Loading Screen, and Teaser 4 shows the complete head + mask, as well as a picture of GHOST Brutus. A small picture of The Grotto can be seen at the bottom left area of Brutus.
Teasers 6-8 are for TNTina. Teaser 6 shows a stick of Dynamite as well as the word “Danger” in different languages. It also shows the release date for the season at the bottom. Teaser 7 shows a propane tank which are mostly found at The Rig. More jumbled puzzle pieces are on this teaser too, as well as the logos of E.G.O. and A.L.T.E.R. The final TNTina teaser shows a picture of one of her gliders: the Bombs Away!, as well as, once again, the word “Danger” in different languages. An Outline of The Rig can be seen.
Teasers 8-11 are for Meowscles. Teaser 8 shows the words, “Nine Lives” written in different languages. Sparkles on the top right corner resemble GHOST Meowscles eyes. An outline of the yacht sits in the middle. The next teaser shows the Feline Fun Back Bling with GHOST Meowscles’ head and an outline of The Shark. The final one shows a picture of Meowscles’ head. “Nine Lives” is printed once more in different languages on this teaser.
