Chapter 4: Season 4, also known as Season 26, was the twenty-sixth season of Fortnite: Battle Royale. It started on August 25th 2023, and concluded on November 3rd 2023.
The season was themed around heists, and the slogan was LAST RESORT.
In Ranked, Chapter 4: Season 4 was the start of Season 1, with the ranks of all participating players being reset at the start of the season.
Previously, in Fortnite...[]
On the fourth map of Fortnite, known internally as Asteria, the Rift Gate was sabotaged by AMIE and created a rift that dropped MEGA City and its many Syndicates onto the island. The city's impact caused part of the island to collapse, revealing an ancient jungle that was once inhabited by The Ancients.
Rich with Refined Kinetic Ore, the jungle’s resources were used by The Ancients to power many different inventions like the Kinetic Boomerang and The Apparatus.
After the Collision and Fracture live events, Doctor Slone woke up in the ancient jungle and was later rescued by Relik, the explorer of Rumble Ruins. She then began exploring the jungle alongside The Explorers in hopes of discovering the truth about The Ancients. She then discovered The Apparatus and requested The Looper to collect Kinetic Ore to power it.
Once The Apparatus was activated, it was revealed to be a stellar projector that manipulated light using Kinetic Ore. It revealed The Eclipse, a projection that served as a countdown for Season 4.
How did it start?[]
The season begins as the sun becomes eclipsed by the moon. Vampire Kado Thorne took up residence in Asteria, draining the island's wealth and treasures to finance luxury properties: Sanguine Suites, Eclipsed Estate, and Relentless Retreat. A team consisting of Nolan Chance, Piper Pace, Fish Thicc, Mae, Antonia, and Khaby Lame attempt to infiltrate Eclipsed Estate and steal Throne's prized treasures to take back what belongs to the island and, more importantly, foil Thorne's ultimate plan. The fate of the island is at stake, and theft is the last resort.
Chapter 4: Season 4 Story[]
Kado Thorne is brought to the Island; The Ancients were trying to warn Slone about this. However, Slone and the luminaries built the Apparatus. Kado Thorne is a time-traveling vampire, who brought his hotels and Guards to the Island. Kado uses his time machine to collect artifacts from different Fortnite seasons such as the Golden Egg, Mythic Goldfish, Midas' Drum Gun, The Foundation's MK-Seven Assault Rifle, Oro's Skull, as well as other items such as Kit's Shockwave Launcher.
Slone calls for someone called Nolan Chance who she thinks can help her steal the Time Machine from Kado Thorne. Antonia and Nolan Chance don't trust each other due to a previous heist, however they decide to team up. Nolan and The Loopers manage to get Fish Thicc, Piper Pace and Mae to help them join the crew for the Heist.
Fortnitemares 2023 / The Eclipse[]
After a couple of months, The Eclipse began on the island, and Kado Thorne now has full power in his Vampire form, having acquired new abilities. He opened the passage to the Time Machine, protecting it and his previously stolen relics. He set the time machine to July 12 2018 but for what reason is unknown; Mae however suspects he has a much sinister plan in mind.
A little later, Doctor Slone, Nolan, and his crew successfully steal the Time Machine from Kado Thorne, stashing it in Frenzy Fields just outside of The Getaway. When they tested out the Time Machine; props from Chapter 1 appeared on the farm.
Agent Jones arrived on Asteria after finding his way back on the island after Fracture and now working with Doctor Slone to execute her plan. Near the end of the season the time machine and the props disappeared along with Agent Jones
In the last week of the season Kado Thorne was implied to be killed by Shimmerdusk. Despite this Asteria is still being affected by The Eclipse

- Three new guarded bases have been added to the Island:
- The Citadel has been replaced by Eclipsed Estate.
- Lonely Labs has been replaced by Sanguine Suites.
- Relentless Retreat has been added to the Island southwest of Frenzy Fields.
- Guarded Vaults has been added to previous locations:
- The underground of Rumble Ruins.
- The Slap Co. factory in Slappy Shores.
- The center building of MEGA City.
- The original Vaults at MEGA City, Shattered Slabs, Brutal Bastion, Eastern Watch, & Secluded Spire have been raided and ransacked.
- All Jungle Vaults Ruins have been emptied and all Rift Statues have been removed.

- A Pizza Pit restaurant has been added to Slappy Shores.

- There are filenames suggesting that this season was actually supposed to be Chapter 4: Season 2.[17]
- In turn, there's also files suggesting that the latter was originally intended to have been part of Chapter 3, implying that it would've lasted more than four seasons.[18]
- Chapter 4: Season 4 is the second Season not to have two Legendary Outfits in the Battle Pass, the first being Chapter 2: Season 4.
- It is also the second season to have lasted only 10 weeks, the first being Chapter 2: Season 3.
- This is the third season that started on a Friday, the last two being Chapter 4: Season 2 and Chapter 4: Season 3.
- This is the first Chapter 4 season to not feature a new Kinetic Weapon.
- This season's cinematic trailer takes place during a solar eclipse.
- In this season's cinematic trailer, various items not available in-game, such as the Mythic Goldfish and Golden Egg, can be seen inside Kado Thorne's Vault.
- Chapter 4 Season 4 has the smallest number of map changes, with a total of only three.
- Mark Rein's teaser word for Chapter 4: Season 4 was "Heist."[19]
- Prior to Update v26.10, the Thunder Shotgun and Red-Eye Assault Rifle could have been obtained by eliminating the Diamond Diva NPC.
