The Charge Shotgun is a Shotgun in Fortnite: Battle Royale. It was introduced in Chapter 2: Season 3.
The Charge Shotgun has a Mythic version called Kit's Charge Shotgun.
Functionality[]
The Charge Shotgun is a close ranged weapon which should be charged up in order to deal the most damage to an enemy player. Charging the weapon takes around 1 second and allows it to deal higher damage to enemy players. Like all shotguns it is useful at close range but very weak at medium to longer ranges.
However, the range of the Charge Shotgun is better than most other shotguns, like the Pump Shotgun, making it a little more viable from a few tiles away.
The Charge Shotgun reloads 1 shell at a time, and its reload time statistic is how long it takes for a zero ammo reload to a full magazine.
The Charge Shotgun is a hitscan weapon, but fires a spread of 10 pellets when both aiming down sights and hipfiring. Aiming down sights tightens the spread of pellets.
Damage falloff:
- Damage falloff begins at 8.5 meters (1.7 tiles).
- Damage decreases down to 90% of its maximum at 10 meters (2 tiles).
- Damage steadily decreases down to 70% of its maximum at 15 meters (3 tiles).
- Damage decreases down to 50% of its maximum at 20 meters (4 tiles).
- It deals damage until 30 meters (6 tiles).

- Charging up the Charge Shotgun to full is ideal in an engagement as it deals higher damage than not charging it.
- A good opener to a fight is to throw down a Shockwave Grenade, and while in the air, charge and fire.
- While charging the Charge Shotgun all the way will do maximum damage, in fast-paced battles it is safer to land two uncharged shots than a full charged shot.
- The Charge Shotgun has a longer effective range than most other shotguns, even uncharged.
- It is thus ideal to maintain some distance (2 to 3 tiles) when using this shotgun against other shotguns.
- The Charge Shotgun is a hard counter to weapons like the Harpoon Gun, as once hit you can begin charging your weapon to counter-attack.
- It's best to combine the Charge Shotgun with an SMG or similar weapon. Fire your Charge Shotgun, then switch to the SMG to finish the opponent off.
- Don't charge the Charge Shotgun at all times, since you walk slower while charging and cannot sprint.
- You can cancel the charge of the Charge Shotgun without firing by switching to a different weapon before letting go of the fire button.
- Make sure not to accidentally do this while using it in combination with other weapons.
- You can use the charging of the Charge Shotgun for a rattlesnake-like effect. By charging up the weapon, it could intimidate some players into not pushing into you.
- Don't count on this working against highly skilled opponents, though.
Counters[]
- The Charge Shotgun relies on being in close range and being fully charged to be at its most viable. Continuing to move and keep distance between you and an opponent with a Charge Shotgun can be very effective.
