Combat Assault Rifle is an Assault Weapon in Fortnite: Battle Royale, that was added in Chapter 2: Season 8.

Functionality

The Combat Assault Rifle is a fast firing rifle with a tight weapon spread and significantly more recoil when firing. Combat Assault Rifle is a Hitscan weapon, with First Shot Accuracy enabled and has a headshot multiplier of 1.5x.

• The Combat Assault Rifle's heavy recoil can be countered by adjusting your aim controls downward while firing.
  • Controller players can do this by pulling down on the aim stick.
  • Keyboard and mouse players can do this by dragging their mouse downward.

• The Combat Assault Rifle is an amazing close-to-medium-range weapon but suffers at long ranges due to its high recoil and low damage per shot.
• If you must use the Combat Assault Rifle at long ranges, it's best to fire the weapon in short bursts to reset the weapon's accuracy and recoil.
• Crouching with this gun resets its first shot accuracy faster, allowing for more accurate shots. Crouching also reduces its hipfire spread and spread in general.
• The Combat Assault Rifle fires fast enough that it can damage opponents through turbo building if you're accurate with it.
• Try not to challenge opponents using scoped assault rifles unless you're within around 60 or fewer tiles, as the high accuracy of these weapons will often outperform the Combat Assault Rifle.
• The Combat Assault Rifle can substitute for an SMG in a pinch, although its hip-firing accuracy is poor.
• Challenging players wielding Sniper Rifles is unwise, as they can instantly eliminate the player with a single well-placed shot while attempting to whittle away at their health one shot at a time. Instead, close the gap between the enemy by placing some structures or ducking behind cover to get within a range where sniping isn't nearly as practical.
• Since the Combat Assault Rifle is a hit-scan weapon, it can be easy to use since its shots instantly connect with their target rather than having travel time.

Chapter 2: Season 8

• Update v18.20: Introduced the Combat Assault Rifle, as a vote for Donation Stations.
  • October 15th 2021: The Combat Assault Rifle was chosen via Donation Stations to be added to the game, beating the Combat SMG.
    • Introduced from Common to Legendary.
• Update v18.40: Added to Creative Mode.

Chapter 3: Season 1

• Update v19.00: Vaulted the Combat Assault Rifle in all rarities.

Chapter 3: Season 2

• Update v20.00: Reintroduced the Combat Assault Rifle, as a vote for Donation Stations.
• Reduced the amount of kick and recoil on the weapon.
• Content Update v20.00: From Saturday, April 2, at 4 AM ET to Monday, April 4, 2022, at 11:59 PM ET, the Combat Assault Rifle will be unvaulted to promote voting for vaulted items to return.
  • March 30th 2022: Reduced damage to players by 2, reduced the damage to structures by 2.
  • April 5th 2022: Vaulted the Combat Assault Rifle as voting begins.
• Update v20.10: The Combat Assault Rifle lost to the MK-Seven Assault Rifle, keeping it vaulted.

Chapter 3: Season 3

• Content Update v21.20: Unvaulted the Combat Assault Rifle in all rarities.
  • It is not present in Competitive Modes.

Chapter 3: Season 4

• Update v22.00: Vaulted the Combat Assault Rifle in all rarities.

Chapter 5: Season 3

• Update v30.00: Renamed the Combat Assault Rifle to Legacy Combat Assault Rifle. The weapon is still vaulted.

• Update v33.00: The name was changed from Legacy Combat Assault Rifle to Combat Assault Rifle.

• Combat Assault Rifle resembles the IWI Galil ACE battle rifle with a longer hand guard.
• Combat Assault Rifle first appeared in the Chapter 2: Season 8 Story Trailer. Which showed Triggerfish struggling to control its recoil after picking it up from Headhunter Prime.
• Combat Assault Rifle was added to the files in Update v18.10, but did not become accessible until Update v18.20.
• Combat Assault Rifle was once called the 'Branch AR' by Epic Games in the Update v18.40 Creative Patch Notes.
• During Chapter 2: Season 8, combining an Assault Rifle with 1 Nuts 'n' Bolts created a Suppressed Assault Rifle (Rare and above only).
