Combat Assault Rifle is an Assault Weapon in Fortnite: Battle Royale, that was added in Chapter 2: Season 8.
Functionality[]
The Combat Assault Rifle is a fast firing rifle with a tight weapon spread and significantly more recoil when firing. Combat Assault Rifle is a Hitscan weapon, with First Shot Accuracy enabled.
Damage falloff:
- Damage falloff begins at 50 meters (10 tiles).
- Damage decreases down to 90% of its maximum at 75 meters (15 tiles).
- Damage reaches its minimum value of 86% of its maximum at 92.5 meters (18.5 tiles).
The Combat Assault Rifle can be reloaded whilst aiming.

- The Combat Assault Rifle's heavy recoil can be countered by adjusting your aim controls downward while firing.
- Controller players can do this by pulling down on the aim stick.
- Keyboard and mouse players can do this by dragging their mouse downward.
- The Combat Assault Rifle is an amazing close-to-medium-range weapon but suffers at long ranges due to its high recoil and low damage per shot.
- If you must use the Combat Assault Rifle at long ranges, it's best to fire the weapon in short bursts to reset the weapon's accuracy and recoil.
- Crouching with this gun resets its first shot accuracy faster, allowing for more accurate shots. Crouching also reduces its hipfire spread and spread in general.
- The Combat Assault Rifle fires fast enough that it can damage opponents through turbo building if you're accurate with it.
- Try not to challenge opponents using scoped assault rifles unless you're within around 60 or fewer tiles, as the high accuracy of these weapons will often outperform the Combat Assault Rifle.
- The Combat Assault Rifle can substitute for an SMG in a pinch, although its hip-firing accuracy is poor.
- Challenging players wielding Sniper Rifles is unwise, as they can instantly eliminate the player with a single well-placed shot while attempting to whittle away at their health one shot at a time. Instead, close the gap between the enemy by placing some structures or ducking behind cover to get within a range where sniping isn't nearly as practical.
- Since the Combat Assault Rifle is a hit-scan weapon, it can be easy to use since its shots instantly connect with their target rather than having travel time.
