The Combat SMG is a Submachine Gun in Fortnite: Battle Royale, that was introduced in Chapter 3: Season 2.

Functionality[]

The Combat SMG is a fast firing SMG with a tight spread, but has significant recoil that must be controlled to fire accurately. The recoil makes it unsuitable at medium to long ranges.

The Combat SMG is a hitscan weapon, and has First Shot Accuracy.

The Combat SMG's heavy recoil can be countered by adjusting your aim controls downward while firing.
- Controller players can do this by pulling down on the aim stick.
- Keyboard and mouse players can do this by dragging their mouse downward.
The Combat SMG deals high damage for an SMG and has very little damage fall-off. Coupled with its tight accuracy and high headshot damage, the Combat SMG is a powerhouse in both close and medium ranges.
Due to its high accuracy and tight spread, the Combat SMG can function at long range in a pinch. Tap-firing or firing in short bursts will ensure the most is made of the Combat SMG at greater distances.
At medium ranges, it's often best to fire the Combat SMG in short bursts to counteract its high vertical recoil.
The Combat SMG is an excellent pairing for a high-damage shotgun. Fire your shotgun, then switch to the Combat SMG to finish off your opponent.
Due to its high accuracy and damage, the Combat SMG can substitute in place of an assault rifle if needed.

Counters[]

The Combat SMG, despite it's tight spread and high DPS, can be very hard to control at long range. Keeping distance between you and an opponent using a Combat SMG can be beneficial, especially if you have a weapon that is easier to use at those ranges.
