Containers are a special type of item in Fortnite: Battle Royale. They are one of the primary methods of obtaining loot, aside from Floor Loot, Foraging and Eliminating opponents.
Functionality
Containers can be found at various locations across the map, with varying spawn rates and loot drops. The primary method of obtaining loot from a container is to open it. This is normally done by interacting with the container. However, a majority of containers can simply be destroyed to drop their loot.
Supply Drops are the only container that does not spawn at the start of a match. Instead, Supply Drops will spawn randomly near the mid-end game, and do not have specific tiles they can land on.
This makes them unique to the game, as all other containers have preset spawns and must spawn only where allocated.
They also cannot be destroyed, but rather the balloon holding them up can be.
Supply Drops can spawn in certain locations, such as the Pawntoon without needing to spawn from a Balloon.
In earlier patches of Battle Royale, destroying a chest deleted the loot that it dropped.
Despite Chests not currently having a 100% drop rate, chest spawn locations are visible when at a distance. The chest then disappears on closer inspection.
