The Dark Presence, also known as the darkness, the master, the creature and the shadow(s), is an evil demonic eldritch horror ruling the Spirit Realm that was first introduced in Chapter 6: Season 1. He is the leader of the Demon Warriors and the master of Shogun X, The Night Rose, Mask Maker Daigo, the Spires, and The Swarm.
He is a major character in Fortnite: Battle Royale and LEGO Fortnite, serving as the overarching antagonist of Chapter 6 and LEGO Fortnite: Expeditions.
Overview[]
The Dark Presence is a very powerful demonic entity residing in the Spirit Realm, often described as a Dark Force, a monster, or a creature, though his true nature remains unknown. He possesses enough power to bind Shogun X, The Night Rose, and Daigo to its will, while commanding the Spires, the Swarm, and a vast demonic army. The demon is also aware of the spirit siblings—Daigo, Kendo, and Jade—and their bloodline, which descends from the original Mask Maker who forged the Masks of Power. These masks, now wielded by demons, played a central role in igniting the Shattering War many ages ago.
Appearance[]
The Dark Presence is a titan sized humanoid demon with four fuchsia eyes, sharp fangs and countless number of tentacles coiled to form legs and arms - all purple in color with a spiral pattern on the back of each, similar to the patterns seen on Cube Monsters, Mist Monsters and objects with ties to The Storm/Corruption Cubes. Each have yellow eyes with vertical and star-shaped pupils of varying sizes. The Zero Point Shard can be found on his rhombus shaped heart where its bright blue light energy constantly flow though his dark purple veins. His body is constantly emanating a dark purple/red smoke.
Personality[]
The Dark Presence is described as malice and ambition incarnate,[2] a Hungry Shadow and as a being full of rage and pride.[3] According to The Night Rose, her former captor is deadly and patient when it want to be, but volatile and vicious otherwise.[4] The Dark Presence intends to anchor the Spirit Realm to Oninoshima and unleash a march of destruction. He doesn't care about his servants, discarding them once they fullfilled their purpose, like he did with Shogun X who was sacrificed to make Daigo follow a dark path, then Mask Maker Daigo himself after the ritual for his summoning was successful, by throwing him onto a mountain.
Puppets[]
Each act as servants bound to the Dark Presence's will, with a loyal, evil personality induced in each of them, or as controlled extensions of the Dark Presence.

History[]
Before Chapter 6[]
The Dark Presence bound Shogun X to his will in the Spirit Realm, and therefore became the leader of the Demon Warriors. Then through his new servant, he also bound The Night Rose for her to act as the former's lieutenant.
Chapter 6: Season 1[]

A Shard of the Zero Point crashes onto Oninoshima, closely behind The Looper, Jones and Hope who had arrived from Reality: UN-0-C2R. Upon its impact, it created a Reality Wave that brought back once-banished Magic, including the dark magic which caused the Shattering War a long time ago. As a result, the previously abandoned portals are reopened for the demons of old to return across the Island[7] - including Shogun X, the Demon Warriors' commander.
The demon retrieved the Shard and brought it into the Spirit Realm, giving it to the Dark Presence for the preparation of his plan. For reasons unknown, the entity has a particular interest in the bloodline responsible for the Masks of Power, and wants to claim all of them.
Once Jade was captured and imprisoned in the Spirit Realm, she encountered the being with the Shard, and learned that he wanted to take the Island.
The Confrontation Event[]

While Daigo was carrying out his ritual to save Jade, he discovered the existence of the entity. The darkness contacted him, whispering that he knew of him, his family, his lineage, and wanted to take him. After the Confrontation, which resulted in the defeat of Shogun X and Jade's liberation, Daigo went on a quest to singlehandedly fight the being.
Chapter 6: Season 2[]
Jade informs The Looper that Daigo became obsessed with the Dark Presence of the Spirit Realm,[8] while The Night Rose warns that his presence is growing in the heart of Oninoshima.[9]

This led Daigo to follow a dangerous path, first seeking to repair the dangerous, old Mask of Power dating back to the Shattering War era. His goal was to use its power to forcefully open a passage to the Spirit Realm through a portal, enter it, defeat the entity and take the Zero Point Shard.
Daigo's Fate Event[]

Daigo allied himself with Fletcher Kane, to whom he gave Masks of Power for his Alpha Guards and promised ultimate power in exchange for the gold he needed to repair the old mask. Once done, the duo went to Magic Mosses to place and open a portal, with Daigo performing a ritual while Fletcher Kane protected him from any interference. Kendo and Jade expressed their shock at Daigo's actions, while The Night Rose understood that he fell to Dark Presence's thrall.
While Fletcher Kane was defeated by The Looper, Daigo betrayed him and abandoned him to his fate, calling it pragmatism, as only he could travel to the Spirit Realm. However, Daigo's arrogance and recklessness cost him dearly as the Dark Presence, through another Puppeteer, corrupted his heart and mind, transforming him into a fearsome demon under the name Mask Maker: the new commander of the Demon Warriors.
Chapter 6: Season 3 / LEGO Fortnite:Expeditions[]
Controlling Daigo's heart and mind, the Dark Presence charged him with finding and excavating the ancient Spires, and deploying them to absorb the energy of Oninoshima during a new invasion, all in order to progressively anchor the Spirit Realm to the Island and pursue his goal: the destruction of this world. In the process, the Storm King's minions also joined the Dark Presence's army.
Later in the season, Hope senses waves of raw rage, pride and malice coming from the dark presence. She informs that the presence is mixing its energies with the Zero Point Shard.
Super Showdown[]
Daigo performed his ritual, aiming to achieve what he viewed as his ultimate destiny and summoned his master before being violently discarded; The Supernovas arrive at Demon's Domain, ready to fight the creature. The tentacle proceeds to unleash a barrage of the Zero Point Shard's power on everyone. After the battle, the defeated tentacle retreats back into the portal.
The heroes think they've won, however three additional tentacles emerge from the portal, notably stronger than before. With their energy pulse, the tentacles lock everyone in the air, while two of them converged their power towards the third, ready to launch a super-powerful attack. However, the team's hope returns as Superman intervenes, cutting the third tentacle that was going to attack, letting it crash far to the ground, stopping for a brief moment to greet The Looper before attacking another tentacle with his red laser and delivering a powerful blow to the last remaining, sending them back to the Spirit Realm. He then destroyed the Spires to close the portal for good, and left.
The cut off tentacle begins to rot, boiling from the inside and spreading its blood into the ground surrounding the area. Strange insect holes emerge from the blood of the tentacle, which expel small, purple, glowing bugs.
Chapter 6: Season 4[]
As an unplanned contingency, the severed Tentacle of the Dark Presence gave birth to Onimorphs specimen of The Swarm, a species of very violent insectoid demons from the Spirit Realm, and began infesting Oninoshima. However, following the multiple conflicts the Island faced, the veil separating the Island with the Spirit Realm was weakened, allowing the Dark Presence to send more of them from the Spirit Realm in order to infest Oninoshima and shatter the veil for good.
The O.X.R. emerged to fight back, establishing several bases, but most—including Swarmy Stash and Ranger’s Ruin—fell and became Swarm nests, alongside The Hive and Demon’s Debris. Led by monstrous Queens, the Swarm assaulted Utopia City, nearly destroying it before being partially repelled by the O.X.R. and the Supernovas. Despite heavy losses, O.X.R. forces continued to battle infestations across Bases Alpha, Epsilon, and Theta, rescuing imprisoned allies and reclaiming territory.
As the campaign intensified, O.X.R. struck back hard—destroying over a billion Swarm creatures and retaking all lost outposts. Yet, the Swarm resurged, forming new nests like Hive Hideaway and spreading more and more. Dr. Theodore Flyesbee noted that at this rate, The Swarm would destroy Reality: 783.
When the Power Rangers joined the fight, the Islanders managed to regain the upper hand, with the Dino Megazord finally crushing the remaining Queens in a decisive battle at The Hive, ending the Swarm War. The island was restored—former hives became peaceful sites like Bugswatter Beach, commemorating the conflict.
However, Dr. Theodore Flyesbee noted that The Swarm wasn't actually defeated but that they retreated, before adding they given how they were on their way to destroy Reality: 783 it wouldn't make sense for them to leave unless something even more dangerous than them would arrive soon, prompting him to leave this world. As several member of O.X.R. and of Hope's group could tell, it was only the calm before the storm as the Dark Presence was preparing his entry onto the island.
The Anomaly[]
Some time later, a mysterious anomaly taking the form of a tree appeared on the northwestern corner of Oninoshima, eventually growing into a large tree outfitted with a treehouse. Over time, a mysterious dark aura appeared over the treehouse, progressively worsening the instabilities of the veil separating the Island from the Spirit Realm.
While Hope sent The Looper to study the anomaly, she and Jones prepared a countermeasure to permanently seal the portals prior to their planned invasion of the Spirit Realm, with Jones enhancing his Portal Device to do so. When the instabilities reached their critical point, Hope and Jones rifted to a control center that had been set up nearby and proceeded to seal the breach and prevent the Dark Presence from using this opportunity to invade the Island. The portal was closed for a moment before reopening into a larger portal that finally allowed the demonic creature to cross over.
As a battle erupts, with the Dark Presence wielding the full power of the Zero Point Shard planted in his chest, Kang and Kodos are captivated by the sight of the creature as they have hoped to find a reproductive mate. They attack Islanders and abduct Hope and Jones to gain the demon's favor, but Hope overpowers them and gains control of their saucer to attack the Dark Presence. Her attack is parried and the saucer is thrown into an inter-reality wormhole by the Dark Presence, but Jones noticed the Zero Point Shard in the Dark Presence's chest, and Hope was able to use the tractor beam to steal a piece of it and take it into the wormhole.
Trivia[]

- The Dark Presence could be tied to the Storm King, due to the following similarities:
- In LEGO Fortnite:Expeditions, it is revealed that Mask Maker Daigo had both Spirit Realm and Storm King's beasts under his orders.
- The Storm King demonstrated mind control abilities as well as telepathy, corresponding the powers displayed by the Dark Presence.

Trivia[]
- With its absolutely towering
1,000,000,000,000,000,000 Health, The Tentacle surpasses Doctor Doom in terms of highest HP size.
- Despite this however, Doctor Doom still took much longer to defeat as The Tentacle's battle was much more scripted compared to his, with The Supernovas having moments of dishing out massive damage towards it.
- The Tentacle has an unused Bodyslam attack where it slams itself on the ground.
