The Double Barrel Shotgun is a Shotgun in Fortnite: Battle Royale. it was added in Season 5. The Exotic version of this weapon is The Dub.
Functionality[]
The Double Barrel Shotgun is a weapon with very low range and a very small magazine. The purpose of the Double Barrel Shotgun is to deal high amounts of damage in very close situations, even closer than that of the Pump Shotgun. Landing all pellets from both its shots can knock a player from full health and shields with both of the gun's rarities.

The Double Barrel Shotgun is a hitscan weapon, but fires a spread of 10 pellets when both aiming down sights and hipfiring. Aiming down sights tightens the spread of pellets. Damage falloff:

- Damage falloff begins at 3 meters (0.5 tiles).
- Damage steadily decreases down to 80% of its maximum at 5 meters (1 tile).
- Damage decreases down to 55% of its maximum at 10 meters (2 tiles).

- The Double Barrel Shotgun benefits from landing as many pellets as possible rather than landing headshots. Aim for the upper chest to land as many pellets as possible while still getting in some headshot damage.
- It's best to pair the Double Barrel Shotgun with an SMG, preferably one with a high capacity. After expending the Double Barrel Shotgun's capacity, switch to your SMG to finish off your opponent.
- Unlike most other shotguns, it's best not to deal chip damage at longer ranges due to the Double Barrel Shotgun's long reload time.

Chapter 4: Season OG[]
- Update v27.00 (10th November): Unvaulted the new version of the Double Barrel Shotgun.
- Reverted damage to 114/120.
- Removed maximum damage cap, to combat this the headshot multiplier was nerfed to 1.25x.

Chapter 5: Season 1[]
- Update v28.00: Removed the OG version of the Double Barrel Shotgun.
Trivia[]
- The Double Barrel Shotgun uses the same model and animations as the Double Punch Schematic from Save the World.
- While the two guns have no other difference besides function, the Battle Royale Double Barrel Shotgun notably skips a reload even when both shells have been fired. Causing the second shell to suddenly appear in the right-hand side chamber while reloading.
- When it was originally added, the Legendary Double Barrel Shotgun had the highest DPS of any weapon at that time, with 285 (followed by the Rare Submachine Gun and Legendary Tactical Submachine Gun, both had a dps of 271).
- The Double Barrel Shotgun used to be the longest vaulted Shotgun in Battle Royale. The last time it was available to use before being vaulted was in Season X. It got unvaulted 17 seasons later in the second week of Chapter 4: Season OG.
- Events like Winterfest 2019 and its Exotic version were excluded in terms of it being unvaulted in previous updates.
