Barrymore J. Vinderman, also known as Dr. Vinderman is the posthumous overarching protagonist of Fortnite: Save the World. He was the owner and founder of Vindertech, a technology company seen in both Battle Royale and Save the World.
Lore[]
Dr. Barrymore J. Vinderman was a scientist and the founder of Vindertech, along with his partner, Desiree. Vinderman is presumed to be responsible for much of the technology featured in the game, including weapons, BluGlo technology, Storm Shields, and numerous robotic AI characters.
Prior to the events of Save the World, he somehow became aware of The Storm and tried to use dangerous technology to prevent it. His sudden change in behavior ultimately caused Desiree to abandon him in disgust. Vinderman then created a robot assistant named Ray as Desiree’s replacement.
Vinderman tried to recruit the help of Steel Wool members (in addition to being musicians, all of the members were prominent scientists), including Lars, in order to prepare for the coming struggle against the Storm, but, like Desiree, they largely ignored his warnings.
Vinderman’s attempt to stop the Storm’s arrival ultimately failed, and he retreated to his lab in Plankerton where he eventually died while working on an experimental "singularity pulse bomb."
In the mission I’m Probably Dead, Ray and Homebase explore the ruins of his lab where they find that Vinderman had made an AI copy of himself before his death.
Later on in Canny Valley, The Commander builds a memorial for Dr. Vinderman to comfort Ray, who was still mourning his death.
It is discovered that Vinderman's AI was being unknowingly carried inside of SEE-Bot, so the Homebase heroes track down SEE-Bot, whom Ray had sent on a long journey out of annoyance. Eventually, Homebase and Desiree head to Dr. Vinderman's mansion in order activate Vinderman’s AI. After the Commander defends the servers from a horde of monsters, The AI activates. It has the same memories and personality as Vinderman, but isn’t aware of the circumstances of his death. The AI plays a crucial role in the fight with the Storm King, but its core begins to melt down, and the AI shuts down shortly after helping motivate Ray and delivering Dr. Vinderman's last message: "Commander, there is a solution. It is written on the wall."
Whether Dr. Vinderman exists in Battle Royale is unknown. Should Dr. Vinderman exist in Reality Zero, it would most likely be a Snapshot as the original Dr. Vinderman died.

- Vinderman has an outfit based on his AI form called Dr. Vinderbot.
- While he is never physically shown anywhere else in the game, Dr. Vinderbot's lab coat features a Vindertech ID badge displaying Dr. Vinderman's human appearance.
