Bars are a in-game currency for Fortnite: Battle Royale. They were introduced in Chapter 2: Season 5.
Functionality[]
Bars are an in-game currency that can be used to purchase items or services from Characters or Vending Machines at differing prices. They can be used for:
- Purchasing Items such as Weapons or Consumables.
- Hiring Characters as a friendly AI.
- Upgrading Weaponry or a Fishing Rod.
- Purchasing Items.
- Marking nearby Chests, Vehicles, Cozy Campfires, Bigfoot, or more.
- Activating a Rift.
- Turning into a Prop.
- Locating the next storm circle.
- Buying Ammo.
- Donating to a Donation Station.
- Purchasing Items or services from a Vending Machine.
Any of these purchases will deduct Bars from your account. Bars will also be deducted upon being eliminated in much smaller numbers.
A player can accumulate a maximum amount of 5,000 bars over several matches. Accumulated bars can carry across LTMs, however, they do not carry across competitive game modes.
Bars are reset at the end of each season.
Obtained[]
Bars can be obtained in two different ways. These are by finding them as a currency, or getting them as a reward for completing a Quest or Bounty.
Bars are dropped as an item by:
- Eliminating opponents, both AI and players.
- Opening or destroying Chests, Rare Chests, Safes and Cash Registers.
- Throwing a Shield Breaker EMP at a Vending Machine.
- Destroying Beds, Sofas, or Washing Machines (Not Guaranteed).
Bars are deposited straight into the player's inventory by:
- Completing a Bounty (All Methods).
- Completing quests given by characters
- Searching a Cash Register

Trivia[]
- During Operation: Snowdown, playing a match in the Snowdown Shuffle playlist would reset players bars to 0. On December 22nd, 2020, users with 2K + Bars had their bars restored to their account and Epic Games promised that the bug should occur less.
- Bars seem to be made out of gold and made by the Imagined Order, as noted by the Logo printed on them.
- It is possible the gold itself was acquired from Midas prior to the I.O., as spoken by Marigold in her challenges.
- It is unknown why the IO would make this but it could have been so that they can pay for stuff and that it was never supposed to be used by the Loopers.
- In Chapter 3: Season 4, Bars were not reset on season launch, despite the fact there was a Bargain Bin Week.
