The Drum Gun is a Submachine Gun in Fortnite: Battle Royale. It was added in Chapter 5: Season 2. The Mythic version of this weapon is Midas' Drum Gun. This weapon can be Modded.

Functionality[]

The Drum Gun is an automatic Submachine Gun with a fast fire rate and high damage, but it fires slightly slower than most SMGs.

Chapter 5: Season 2[]

Update v29.00: Added the Drum Gun in Rare to Legendary to the files.
Update v29.01: Added the Drum Gun.
Update v29.10: Increased the Drum Gun's damage (21/22/23 - 22/23/24) and fire rate (8.1 - 8.3).
- Also added to Creative.
- Replaced the firing sound so it now shares the same sound with the Legacy Drum Gun before running low on ammo.

Trivia[]

The Drum Gun is modeled after the American M1 Thompson SMG, which is the Submachine Gun used in World War II, and not the model often associated with American Depression-era Mobsters. It has extra sights and rails added.
- Despite this the model itself still has aspects of the M1928 Thompson merged with the M1 Thompson such as the rear iron sight and the flash compensator. Both of these are reworked and removed respectively on the M1 Model Thompson.
The Drum Gun is the second Mod Compatible weapon that can appear with a guaranteed mod, since all Drum Guns have the Drum Mag equipped by default.

The Legacy Drum Gun is an Assault Rifle in Fortnite: Battle Royale. It was added in Season 4. The Legacy Drum Gun has three Mythic variants: Midas' Drum Gun (OG), Jules' Drum Gun and Shadow Midas' Drum Gun.

Functionality[]

The Legacy Drum Gun is a fully automatic, fast firing, closer ranged weapon. It is best used like an SMG, dealing high amounts of damage in a close quarters environment, but being much weaker at extended ranges due to poor accuracy. As it stands, the Legacy Drum Gun plays closer to a Submachine Gun than an Assault Weapon, similar to the Light Machine Gun.

The Legacy Drum Gun is essentially an SMG in all but name, so it should be used accordingly.
Pairing the Legacy Drum Gun with a high-damage, slow-firing shotgun, such as the Pump Shotgun or Charge Shotgun, is an excellent combo. Fire your shotgun shot, then quickly switch to the Drum Gun to finish the opponent off.
The moderately high DPS of the Legacy Drum Gun paired with its high capacity makes it a great choice for destroying opponents' build pieces at close range.
- If the opponent is hiding behind a wall, you can destroy it with the Legacy Drum Gun and replace it with your own wall, then edit the wall to get off a strong shotgun shot or spray at the opponent further with the Drum Gun.

Trivia[]

The Legacy Drum Gun is modeled after the American M1928 Thompson Submachine Gun. The model often associated with American Depression-era Mobsters, and not the Submachine Gun used in World War II.
The Legacy Drum Gun has had a troubled classification as a weapon, as it functions very similar to an SMG, but uses medium ammo and is classed as an Assault Weapon. On top of this, its placement in the Creative Menu puts it next to other SMGs despite it not being classed as one there. Eliminating an enemy with the Drum Gun will show "eliminated with a rifle" in the elimination feed, which supports the classification as an assault weapon.
The Legacy Drum Gun was the winner of the The Unvaulting Event.
Epic and Legendary variants of the Legacy Drum Gun exist in the files. They deal 23 / 24 damage and have a 2.85/2.7s reload respectively. All other stats are the same.
- There is no internal Common variant of the weapon.
The Typewriter Schematic in Save the World shares the same model as the Legacy Drum Gun.
