Gatherers are a type of AI opponent in Fortnite: Battle Royale. They were introduced in Chapter 2: Season 4 alongside Gorgers.
Behavior[]
Gatherers are a neutral AI until encountered by the player. When idle, they will hover around the area, attacking chests to gather loot for the Gorger they spawned from. When attacked, or the player goes too close to them, they will begin to attack.
Gatherers attack by shooting a burst of fast moving lasers at the player. These lasers can be dodged, and will deal small amounts of damage to the player.
When eliminated, a Gorger will drop a small amount of ammo or a Common weapon. The Gatherer will lay on the floor for a few seconds, before exploding, which can deal damage to the player. During this time, they can be picked up by the player.
All Gatherers will be destroyed upon eliminating the Gorger that spawned it.
Functionality as a Weapon[]
The player can pick up the remains of a gatherer to use as a weapon. This weapon deals 37 damage, and will explode if left the player switches off the weapon, enters a Vehicle or a Zipline or tries to build.
If you hold the trigger when firing, the Gatherer Gun will charge up. You can release anytime or it will fire upon the charging limit. After being used this way, it drops down on to the floor, self-destructing.
The Gatherer can deal damage to a Gorger without needing to attack a weak point.

- When fighting a Gatherer, be sure to stay away from it when you destroy it. Not only could it hit you when attacking it, but the explosion from its destruction will hurt you.

- The Gatherer could not be used inside of a vehicle, as it would be dropped on attempting to enter.
