The Grapple Glove is a Utility Item in Fortnite: Battle Royale that was added in Chapter 3: Season 3.
Functionality[]
The Grapple Glove is used to traverse swiftly by grappling to different surfaces and swinging towards it. It overheats when used too much, with a cooldown dependent on how much it was used. The grapple can also be broken when the item runs out of charges, or it is shot by an opponent. Players need to swing a few times until they reach full speed. It can also be used to pull items to the player without using a charge.
The Grappler Glove's cool down is dependent on how much distance was covered by the player.

- Players should always focus on high up objects to move quickly with this item. Objects such as buildings, trees and player built ramps are especially useful.
- This item can be used for quick movement, especially when escaping from The Storm, though you will need to swing at least a few times in succession in order to reach full speed.
- Be careful when swinging around opponents, as they can shoot the cable of your Grapple Glove, forcing it to recharge and leaving you vulnerable to fall damage.
- You can surprise an enemy by using Grapple Gloves to swing high and landing near the enemy since it has a low sound cue.
- Turning on visualize audio in the Game Settings can counter it.
- Players can traverse far quicker by jumping and grappling in quick succession, breaking their grapple repeatedly. This is much faster than waiting for a low swing to the ground and can maintain much more vertical height over opponents.

Trivia[]
- The reason this item exists as it does is likely due to licensing issues with Marvel. As the Spider-Man's Web Shooters cannot freely return, a generic version the item, being this one, was brought in.
- The hook of the glove attaches onto surfaces instantly instead of it eventually attaching on. This was most likely done to prevent an issue the Spider-Man's Web Shooters had, where using them would sometimes cause a delay in shooting your web out and swinging.
- This item doesn't use the same swinging animations as the Spider-Man's Web Shooters have, instead it uses new animations to prevent similarities with the Spider-Man's Web Shooters.
- This was introduced earlier in Competitive, like its predecessor.
- The Web Shooters, however, were added earlier as an error.
