The Grenade Launcher is an Explosive Weapon in Fortnite: Battle Royale. It was added in The Pre-Season with the launch of Battle Royale.

Functionality

The Grenade Launcher shoots out a projectile similar to a Grenade, which is affected by gravity and is able to bounce. Shortly after impact, it will explode dealing damage to the players in the vicinity.

Grenade Launchers range from dealing 70 Damage per shot to 77 Damage per shot (70 - 77 Damage per Second). All Grenade Launchers use Rockets. The Grenade Launcher cannot headshot players.

The Grenade Launcher is a Slow Moving Projectile Weapon affected by gravity and physical surfaces. It has First Shot Accuracy enabled, but as it is an Explosive Weapon it is largely irrelevant. There is no damage falloff on the Grenade Launcher's projectiles.

• Avoid shooting a Grenade Launcher near your person as it will deal the same damage to you as it does to enemy players.
• You can shoot a Grenade under a player and allow them to ride it. This is much more difficult than it is with a Rocket Launcher and is almost useless.

Pre-Season

• Update v1.6: Introduced in Rare, Epic and Legendary Rarities.
• Update v1.7.1: Projectiles now deal 375 Structure Damage, instead of 450.

Season 2

• Update v1.11: Vaulted the Grenade Launcher, replaced by the Snowball Launcher.
• Update v1.11 Silenced Pistol Update: Unvaulted the Grenade Launcher, replacing the Snowball Launcher.

Season 3

• Update v3.31: Vaulted the Grenade Launcher, replaced by the Egg Launcher.
• Update v3.50: Unvaulted the Grenade Launcher, replacing the Egg Launcher.

Season 7

• Update v7.10: Vaulted the Grenade Launcher, replaced by the Snowball Launcher.

Trivia

• The Grenade Launcher is based off the South African MGL line of Grenade Launchers.
• You are able to ride on grenades as you can with Rockets, although it is much more difficult.
• Unlike the Pumpkin Launcher to the Rocket Launcher, the Snowball Launcher is a different weapon, as it has a slight different function and rarities. The same applies to the Easter Egg Launcher.
• During Winterfest, the Grenade Launcher used to become the Snowball Launcher, with very slight changes to its function and different stats. During Easter it also used to become the Egg Launcher very slight changes to its function and different stats.
  • In Operation: Snowdown however, the Snowball Launcher has not returned, instead being replaced with The Big Chill.
  • In Spring Breakout, the Egg Launcher returned without the Grenade Launcher being unvaulted.
