- — In-Game Description
IO Guards are an AIs in Fortnite: Battle Royale. They were introduced in Chapter 2: Season 5 and spawn at Elevators at various locations across the map. They were reintroduced in Chapter 2: Season 7 and spawn at IO Satellite Stations, IO Camps and Corny Complex.
Behavior
When knocked down, IO Guards can be shaken down to locate other IO Guards in the area. IO Guards can be revived by fellow IO Guards and Doctor Slone if players leave them unattended. All IO Guards will be eliminated upon a player knocking all of them down, dropping their Weapons amongst other Items.
IO Guards have 100 Health and 150 Shield, plus the standard 100 Health when knocked.
During a standard match of Battle Royale, 3 IO Guards will spawn from an Elevator at various locations across the map. Elevators make an ambient noise before rising up and spawn IO Guards. IO Guards behave similar to Marauders, attacking players after a short period of time although they won't leave their Elevator. IO Guards will not attack other AIs. The only exception is the IO Guards in Hunter's Haven, who will attack Lexa.
When Lexa defeats an IO Guard, she will do these emotes: Springy, Boogie Down, and Disco Fever.

Lore
IO Guards are an army of troops trained by Imagined Order to guard their bases. In Chapter 2: Season 5, they are sent to the Island by Elevators to prevent people from escaping The Loop. In Batman/Fortnite: Zero Point Comic Series, they act as the security of The Bridge and try to prevent Batman and his team from going further in the complex. Some of them are also bodyguards of Doctor Slone.
Strategy
Chapter 2: Season 5
- IO Guards can be very powerful, especially in groups considering their high health. It is often helpful to snipe one before challenging it, and to harpoon it away from the other IO Guards to deal with it on one's own.
- They hit their shots most when the player is moving, so First Shot Accuracy is useful when fighting them
Chapter 2: Season 7
- Assault Weapons are pretty useful against them, as most of the weapons they use are semi-automatic.
Trivia
- IO Guards first appeared in the Chapter 2: Season 5 Story Trailer, in which they were seen frantically running around The Bridge.
- IO Guards use a very similar player model to the Sledge outfit.
- The Outfit can be obtained on developer accounts and is called IO Trooper with the Uncommon Rarity.
- This Outfit can also be obtained by eliminating an IO Guard as the Mystique outfit, and using her Shapeshifter Emote to temporarily transform into one.
- IO Guards are not a guaranteed spawn, as they can either not deploy at all from the location, or the Elevator will be replaced by a variety of different objects. The latter is very rare however.
- In the Batman/Fortnite: Zero Point Issue 5, they are also seen using a bigger variety of weapons like Tactical Shotguns, Assault Rifles and Submachine Guns.
- It it is also revealed that some IO guards are snapshots of Agent Jones who have been trained to be a security team for IO.
