Medallions are a type of item and a gameplay mechanic in Fortnite: Battle Royale. They were introduced in Chapter 5: Season 1.

Functionality[]

Medallions can be obtained by eliminating Bosses. They do not take up inventory slots, and instead go to a separate spot in the inventory specifically for them, similar to Victory Crowns.

During Chapter 6: Season 1, Boss Medallions each grant a unique passive effect:

Name Icon Effect
Shogun X's Medallion Shogun X Medallion - Item - Fortnite Gain infinite stamina. While sprinting, cloak into the void.
Night Rose's Medallion Night Rose Medallion - Item - Fortnite Your weapon is constantly loading ammo.

During Chapter 5: Season 4, Medallions are not required to open vaults and each of them grants a unique passive effect:

Name Icon Effect
Doombot's Siphon Medallion Doombot's Siphon Medallion - Item - Fortnite Grants Health - Icon - Fortnite 50 Health and/or Shield - Icon - Fortnite 50 Shield on enemy elimination.
Emma Frost's Reveal Medallion Emma Frost's Reveal Medallion - Item - Fortnite Marks opponents in a wide radius every 50 seconds. The mark persists for 15 seconds.
Mysterio's Stealth Medallion Mysterio's Stealth Medallion - Item - Fortnite Conceals the user after crouching. The effect lasts for 15 seconds and can be deactivated early by standing up or using any item.
Birthday Medallion Birthday Medallion - Item - Fortnite Grants the user a Balloon every 56 seconds. Players can only have 3 Balloons at a time.

During Chapter 5: Season 3, Medallions (also known as Spoils of War) can be used to open the garages holding bosses' cars. Besides, each of them still grants a unique passive effect:

Name Icon Effect
Ringmaster Scarr's Medallion Ringmaster Scarr's Medallion - Item - Fortnite

Provides an infinite Ammo supply
Buffs all damage inflicted by 5%-6.5% based on the weapon type:

  • Pistol Damage: x1.065
  • SMG Damage:   x1.05
  • Shotgun Damage: x1.05
  • Assault Rifle Damage: x1.06
  • DMR Damage:   x1.055
  • Sniper Rifle Damage: x1.05
  • Bow Damage: x1.055
The Machinist's Medallion The Machinist's Medallion - Item - Fortnite Regenerates Shield - Icon - Fortnite 5 Shield per second. Caps up to Shield - Icon - Fortnite 75 Shield.
Megalo Don's Medallion Megalo Don's Medallion - Item - Fortnite Grants an infinite Nitro effect.

During Chapter 5: Season 2, Medallions (also known as Aspects of the Gods or simply Aspects) are not required to open vaults and each of them grants a unique passive effect:

Name Icon Effect
Aspect of Speed Aspect of Speed - Item - Fortnite Increases sprinting speed and jump height by 20% up to 40%. Nullifies fall damage when sprint-jumping.
Aspect of Siphon Aspect of Siphon - Item - Fortnite Grants Health - Icon - Fortnite 50 Health and/or Shield - Icon - Fortnite 50 Shield on enemy elimination.
Aspect of Agility Aspect of Agility - Item - Fortnite Provides charges of Underworld Dash over time.
Aspect of Combat Aspect of Combat - Item - Fortnite Increases damage inflicted by ranged weapons by 4.5%-6% based on the weapon type:
  • Pistol Damage: x1.06
  • SMG Damage:   x1.045
  • Shotgun Damage: x1.05
  • Assault Rifle Damage: x1.055
  • DMR Damage:   x1.05
  • Sniper Rifle Damage: x1.05
  • Bow Damage: x1.055

it also increases the damage the longer you are. For example: a legendary reaper sniper dealt 127 dmg at some distance then at longer distance it did 134 dmg. The damage it increases at certain distances is unknown.

However, just like Society Medallions, once an Aspect is obtained, a large yellow circle will appear around the player with that aspect on the minimap, roughly outlining their location for opponents. This outline will become increasingly smaller and more accurate for each Aspect acquired.

During Chapter 5: Season 1, all the Medallions (also known as Society Medallions[1] or Takedown Medallions[2]) have the same effect. Once a player obtains a Medallion, they will recover Shield over time unconditionally. The amount of recovery received increases with the number of Medallions in a player's possession.

Medallions Healing Shield Cap
1 Shield - Icon - Fortnite 2 Shield Shield - Icon - Fortnite 50 Shield
2 Shield - Icon - Fortnite 3 Shield Shield - Icon - Fortnite 60 Shield
3 Shield - Icon - Fortnite 4 Shield Shield - Icon - Fortnite 70 Shield
4 Shield - Icon - Fortnite 5 Shield Shield - Icon - Fortnite 85 Shield
5 Shield - Icon - Fortnite 6 Shield Shield - Icon - Fortnite 100 Shield

Additionally, a large yellow circle will appear around the player on the minimap, roughly outlining their location for opponents. Obtaining more Medallions makes the outline increasingly smaller and more accurate.

Finally, the Medallions function similarly to Keycards in that they allow the player to open Vaults. They also make the player invisible to all Sentry Cameras and Sentry Turrets.

Trivia[]

  • According to Odyssey, the Society Medallions were made from relics of The Pantheon, which is why they are enemies of The Society.
  • The Medallions were referred to as "Boss Medallions" in Chapter 5: Season 3 Daily Quests.
  • The Medallions from Chapter 5: Season 3 and Chapter 6: Season 1 are the only ones to not include "TDM" in their Item IDs.
    • TDM likely stands for "TakedownMedallion", which is the folder that the Chapter 5: Season 1 medallions are stored in.
  • All of the Medallions from Chapter 5: Season 1 have variants in the files without the "_Regen" suffix that are titled differently, all ending with "(Max Shield)". Valeria is referred to as "Flamme Fatale", Nisha is referred to as "Fancy Fencer", Montague is referred to as "Dapper Dude" and Oscar is referred to as "Tie Tiger". Peter Griffin's name remains unchanged.
  • Despite the fact that all other Medallions are still present in the files, the Aspects of the Gods have been removed.
    • Despite this, a few files related to them, specifically their UI, still exist.
      • The Aspects of the Gods were later readded to the files in Chapter 2 Remix.
  • Two unused medallions are listed called "Siphon Medallion (Test)" and "Takedown Medallion" with the Chapter 5: Season 1 medallions
    • These were both likely just for testing, as neither of them have icons and it seems like they were using the Gold Token back bling as their icon.
  • The Birthday Medallion is the first Medallion:
    • To not be tied to a specific Boss.
    • To not reveal the player's location when picked up.
    • To not appear on the map when on the ground.
    • That can spawn multiple times in a match.
    • To be added later in a season rather than at the start.
  • Boons share similar names within the files to the Chapter 6: Season 1 Medallions, even being in the same folder.
