- — In-Game Description
The Midas Flopper is a Fish found in Fortnite: Battle Royale that was added in Chapter 2: Season 4.
Functionality[]
Midas Floppers are consumed to heal 40 Health. They can be consumed at any Health Level. Midas Floppers also convert every possible weapon in the player inventory to Legendary rarity, and the fish itself turns into a Legendary Assault Rifle. It can only convert weapons to Legendary if the weapon has a Legendary version, or at least one that is not vaulted.
Midas Floppers can be thrown by holding the Aim button and using the projectile arc to guide them. Once landed, it will ping its location to squad-mates.

This section outlines a strategy. |
| Feel free to add tips, tricks and general advice about the topic. |
- Midas Floppers are obviously very beneficial, upgrading all of your weaponry to Legendary and giving you a Legendary Assault Rifle. However, as the catch rate is so low and they require a Pro Fishing Rod, it is often not worth spending the time to find one.
- Waiting for your squad to give you their low rarity weaponry is the most efficient way to upgrade all their loot and make the best use of the Midas Flopper.
Item ID[]
The Midas Flopper is referred to as Mechanic Flopper in the files.
- Legendary: WID_Athena_MechanicFlopper
Mode Specific History[]
Trivia[]
- The Midas Flopper's appearance is similar to that of Midas and its function to convert everything to the highest rarity is similar to Midas' ability to turn items to gold. Despite Mythic being a closer color to Gold, It does not create Mythic weapons however due to balance reasons and a lack of appropriate Mythic weaponry.
- Despite requiring a Pro Fishing Rod, the Fishing Collection Book did not state that the player needed one to catch it. On top of this the Book also listed it as being found Anywhere, despite it being only found at The Ruins/The Authority.
- These were likely done to make it harder for players to discover the fish.
- In the collection book, the maximum size a Midas Flopper could be was 60cm, and the minimum was 30cm.
- Current inconsistencies with the Midas Flopper:
- EvoChrome Burst Rifle, EvoChrome Shotgun and the Chapter 6 Pumpkin Launcher are unable to be updgraded in any rarity.
- The Common and Uncommon rarities of the Combat Shotgun are unable to be upgraded.
- The Uncommon High Tier Hunting Rifle is only upgraded to the Rare High Tier Hunting Rifle.
- The Uncommon and Rare rarities of the Low Tier Hunting Rifle are still upgraded to the Legendary High Tier Hunting Rifle.
- The Common and Uncommon rarities of the Low Tier Infantry Rifle are only updagred to the Rare rarity of the Low Tier Infantry Rifle.
- The Epic rarity of the Low Tier Infantry Rifle is upgraded to the Legendary rarity of the Low Tier Infantry Rifle.
- The Epic rarity of the High Tier Infantry Rifle is upgraded as intended.
- The Epic rarities of the Pump Shotgun, Shockwave Launcher and Guided Missile are unable to be upgraded.
- The Common to Rare rarities of the Sweeper Shotgun are only upgraded to its Epic rarity.
- The Epic rarity is unable to be upgraded.
- The Common and Uncommon rarities of the Heavy Assault Rifle are only upgraded to its Rare rarity.
- The Rare rarity is unable to be upgraded.
