The Modular Drum Gun is a Submachine Gun in Fortnite: Battle Royale, that was added in Chapter 5: Season 2.

The Modular Drum Gun has two Mythic variants called Midas' Modular Drum Gun, and the hitscan Midas' Gilded Eye Drum Gun.

The Modular Drum Gun has a Hitscan, unmoddable version called Drum Gun.

Functionality[]

The Modular Drum Gun is a fully automatic, high damage Submachine Gun suited for close quarters environment, but being much weaker at extended ranges due to its difficult to control recoil. The Modular Drum Gun will always appear with the Drum Mag equipped by default.

The Modular Drum Gun is a Projectile weapon, with First Shot Accuracy disabled.

Damage falloff:

Damage falloff begins at 30 meters (6 tiles).
Damage decreases down to 90% of its maximum at 55 meters (11 tiles).
Damage reaches its minimum value of 85% of its maximum at 100 meters (20 tiles).

Almost all tips that apply for the Drum Gun also apply to the Modular Drum Gun.
Despite it being very similar to the original Drum Gun, the Modular Drum Gun is arguably better, as the original version lacks an Epic and Legendary variant, and not only does the Modular Drum Gun have weapon mod support, but also has a slightly higher fire rate, increasing its DPS overall.
This weapon benefits greatly from the Red Eye Sight, Vertical Foregrip, Muzzle Brake. The Laser is also a good choice, to help mitigate the horizontal recoil.

Counters[]

Much like the original Drum Gun, the Modular Drum Gun has a lot of horizontal recoil, meaning that unless you are using a Red Eye Sight, this weapon is nearly impossible to use at mid-range, and even with the Red Eye Sight, is still very difficult to use at those ranges. Keeping yourself distanced from an opponent using a Modular Drum Gun can render it almost useless.
Unless running a Speed Mag, the Modular Drum Gun has a very slow reload time, so catching an opponent off guard while they attempt to reload can be very beneficial.

Trivia[]

Modular Drum Gun resembles the M1 Thompson Submachine Gun.^[1]
- Despite this, the model itself still has aspects of the M1928 Thompson merged with the M1 Thompson such as the rear iron sight, finned barrel, and flash compensator, all of which are either reworked or removed entirely on the real life M1 Model Thompson.
The Modular Drum Gun can deal damage to targets from 395 meters, tied with the Modular Thunder Burst SMG.
The icon for the Modular Drum Gun incorrectly shows it with a second pair of Iron Sights.
With Update v38.10, the Modular Drum Gun shares the Fortnite OG Drum Gun's Fire rate, the Update v9.01 Rare Drum Gun's damage in it's Legendary rarity, and the reload speed slightly higher of the Uncommon Drum Gun with the Drum Mag attached.
