Nitro is a gameplay mechanic in Fortnite: Battle Royale. It was introduced in Chapter 5: Season 3 and temporarily gives a speed boost to players and vehicles when applied.
Functionality[]
Nitro can be applied to players and vehicles by consuming or throwing a Nitro Splash, destroying a Nitro Barrel, passing through a Flaming Boost Hoop in Chapter 5: Season 3, or wearing Megalo Don's Medallion, which grants an infinite Nitro effect.
On Player[]
- Movement speed increase
- Explosive bashing power that deals damage and knockback, and can bust through builds (must be moving at a sufficient speed)
- Unlimited stamina
- Fall damage immunity
- Sprint on water
- When with squad-mates, a red circle shows up around the player icon while they are infused with Nitro
- Rifle recharge speed increase
On Vehicles[]
- Driving speed increase
- Explosive ramming power that deals damage and knockback (must be driving at a sufficient speed)
- Fuel consumption decrease
- Buff to attached attack mods

Chapter 5: Season 3[]
- Update v30.00: Introduced. Its effect can be applied through Nitro Splash, Nitro Barrel, Flaming Boost Hoop and Megalo Don's Medallion.
- May 30th 2024: Nitro Bash damage against players reduced from 75 to 25.
- June 7th 2024: Nitro passive stamina renegeration increased from 10%/s to 100%/s, now granting infinite stamina for the duration of the effect.
- Update v30.20: Nitro Bash structure damage reduced from 300 to 90 only in Battle Royale playlists.
Chapter 5: Season 4[]
- Update v31.00: Nitro has been vaulted in Battle Royale.
- All previous balancing changes except for energy regeneration have been reverted (issue).

- — Megalo Don
Nitro is a nickname given to the evil orange substance originating from the Pandora's Box by The Machinist. It was widely used by Megalo Don and the Wasteland Warriors to fuel and boost themselves, their weapons and vehicles.
Appearance[]
Raw Nitro is a lava, fiery-like substance. When heated to a certain point, it will explode and turn into orange sands. Upon consuming, it will turn into flame. Nitro turned Megalo Don's hair into a super flaming spikey hair.

- Fast Juice and Speed Goo were considered names for Nitro.
- Refined Nitro is a combination of hydrogen, oxygen, carbon dioxide, nitrogen and mercury.
