The Oathbound Empire, also known as just The Oathbound and alternately named The Ageless Kingdom and The Ageless Order, is an organization in Fortnite: Battle Royale, that was first introduced in Chapter 4: Season 1 as well as the ruling faction of Asteria. They are a kingdom/empire/order created before the Imagined Order by Geno as their earliest prototype[4] but ended up being abandoned. However, The Ageless, one of Geno's snapshot, took control of the empire and began to rule it as its Champion.
It should be noted that, while Oathbound was formed earlier, it was abandoned after Geno went on to form the IO. Since then, they have co-existed, and despite their different ideologies, trace their roots back to Geno.
Overview[]

History[]
Pre-Chapter 4[]
The Oathbound was formed as an empire by Geno, then given to The Ageless Champion, and fought in many battles, sworn to fight to the last.[5] Several centuries ago, a young Stellan without name nor family was taken in by the Shapeless Man[26], who made him join the Oathbound.[27] Stellan later became the Head Alchemist of the empire, known as the Rift Warden. The Shapeless Man asked him to build a Rift Gate[27], a task also given by The Ageless Champion.[28]
For an unknown reason, their Sages were exiled. But they left behind their forbidden works, including a prophecy about the future. They also said something about Stellan, which Princess Lexa remembers.[18]
Chapter 4: Season 1[]
The Zero Point pulls over The Citadel and others parts of the kingdom to form Asteria.[29] In Oathbound Quests, AMIE and The Looper encounter Stellan in The Citadel and give him their refined Kinetic Ore. However, following AMIE's actions, The Ageless challenged The Looper to a duel, but lost the fight.[30] Stellan later asked The Looper to help him to construct the Rift Gate at Warden's Watch. Gradually, he revealed to them his secrets about The Shapeless Man and his dreams haunted by this dark entity that took him in as his own.[26] He came to the Oathbound at his orders, with no name or family besides this being.[27] After being powered up, the gate is sabotaged by Jules and fails.[31] It opens a giant Sideways Rift in the sky. In search of answers to the future, Stellan began to search for the works of the exiled sages, he and The Looper found the prophecy of the exiled sages saying that a "beautiful monster" would be "enabled by the hubris of a champion."[32] Stellan deduced that the silence after that would mean Nothingness. Rift Knight Kieran is given "The Masterwork" by Sylvie, due to his prophecy of being a "Foretold Hero".[33]
Chapter 4: Season 2[]
The Sideways Rift brings the Loot Island, MEGA City and the rest of the Evergreen Biome. The failed Rift Gate is left at Warden's Watch in ruins.
Chapter 4: Season 3[]
Behind the scenes, The Ageless hired Volpez to get rid of Snowheart and Frozen Red Knight who both threatened his empire.[25] In a discussion with Stellan, Princess Lexa revealed that the Exiled Sages were right about Stellan[18], while Slone claimed she knows what he is, even if he doesn't.[34] Leaving us to believe that the Rift Warden hides even more secrets, that even he might not know.
Chapter 4: Season 4[]
The Citadel has disappeared, and has been replaced by Eclipsed Estate, the residence of Kado Thorne, but the kingdom is still active. Astrea, a cosmic entity consuming everything in her path arrived, awakening both Princess Lexa and Prince Orin's fates, and a timeless prophecy of the exiled sages.
Chapter 5: Season 1[]
The Ageless decided to explore new worlds, starting with Helios. He made new equipment, notably to uncover the secrets of the Ice and command it.
Trivia[]
- Their main theme is Oathbound Empire.
- The Oathbound and the Imagined Order share the center piece of their respective logo.
- Geno keeps the Oathbound's primary logo on his armor, shown in Fortnite X Marvel: Zero War Issue 5.
- The Imagined Order's ranks remained bound to an oath, making a callback to Geno's original Kingdom.[35]
- Knights of the Oathbound and Islanders refer to Oathbound as a Kingdom while The Ageless description, Oathbound Empire music pack and Rift Knight Kieran and Sylvie's set refer to them as an Empire.
- This contradiction extends to the the fact that The Ageless is neither defined as the King or the Emperor but as the Champion.
- Oathbound has a Royalty, with Princess Lexa and Prince Orin as the Princess and Prince of the Oathbound respectively.
- However, neither of them appear to have any family connection to The Ageless.
- Rift Knight Kieran's description refer to the Oathbound as an "ageless order", reminding of the Imagined Order.
- Important knights of the Oathbound obtain the title of "Rift" followed by the function or task they perform in the kingdom.
- Talus is the only exception, possessing the title of "Core" instead of "Rift" due to his special status.
- Important members of Oathbound have a connection to the stars.
- The Ageless is bound to the Sun[36], Rift Warden Stellan, Prince Orin and Core Knight Talus to the Stars, and Princess Lexa to the Moon.
- The Empire seems to refer to the stars to determine fate.[37]
- Several important members of the Oathbound have demonstrated that they have an important destiny, whether for better or for worse.
- Rift Knight Kieran is said to be the foretold hero of the empire.
- The Ageless was prophesied to enable a "beautiful monster" (later revealed to be Astrea[38]), because of his hubris, likely by wishing to create a Rift Gate.
- Princess Lexa and Prince Orin are both fated to confront the cosmic entity Astrea.[38]
