Oninoshima (鬼の島 translated to "Island of Demon"), also known under the code-name Hermes is the Fortnite: Battle Royale Island used in Chapter 6. The codename continues the trend of codenaming the map after Greek Deities beginning with 'H'.

Storyline[]

Pre-Chapter 6[]

The ancestors of Daigo, Jade, and Kendo created Masks of Power, which caused the Shattering War. The war resulted in most of the masks being shattered and magic being banished. The Fox Clan was blamed for the incident.

Nowadays, their family only creates ceremonial masks - while Daigo wishes to create a true Mask of Power and wander into the Spirit Realm.

Chapter 6[]

Hope and Jones arrived on the island in search of a powerful artifact. A broken shard of The Zero Point followed the duo and crash landed near Nightshift Forest, unleashing a Reality Wave across the island - reawakening ancient magic, reopening the gate to the Spirit Realm, and allowing demons to resurface.

  • Oninoshima is the first officially named island in the entire history of Battle Royale.
    • Although it may seem the naming gimmick has been broken again, Oninoshima is internally called Hermes, continuing the trend as all the older island's names are purely internal.
  • Oninoshima is the 2nd island to not be a reformation of any island and to not be in Reality Zero, the first being Helios.
  • Oninoshima is the 3rd island to feature no returning locations.
  • In Greek mythology, Hermes was the patron god of merchants, thieves, and travelers.
