- — In-Game Description
The Outlaw faction[1] is a group of initially loosely associated criminals, consisting of outlaws opposing Fletcher Kane's rule over the Island. Midas with the help of The Looper united them to provide leadership temporarily to take down Fletcher Kane.
They are major characters in Fortnite: Battle Royale, serving as the main protagonists of Chapter 6: Season 2 alongside the Demon Hunters.
Overview[]
After The Confrontation Event, the Spirit Realm portal began emitting golden energy, drastically altering the surrounding area. Around the same time, Baron Fletcher Kane, an old acquaintance of Midas, saw an opportunity and seized control of the newfound gold. To exploit this resource, Kane founded Alpha Mining Company, securing a monopoly over gold extraction in Shiny Shafts Mine. With his growing wealth, he established multiple banks across towns and major cities, including one in Crimson City, a city founded by him. His ambitions didn't stop there—he also constructed a luxurious resort and a grand mansion, cementing his status as the Island's crime kingpin. However, his vast reserves of gold soon attracted the attention of rival criminals, who flocked to Crimson City, turning it into a hotbed of lawlessness. As crime surged, the city's identity shifted, earning it the new name: Crime City. A brutal power struggle erupted between Kane and the criminal underworld, igniting an all-out war for gold.

History[]
Unknown Time Period[]
Keisha Cross and Cassidy Quinn became good childhood friends with each other.[6]
Chapter 6: Season 1[]
Gold began seeping from the Spirit Realm portal, the same one Daigo used to free Jade and battle Shogun X. Jade sensed that this gold would only bring conflict, disorder, and destruction. Meanwhile, Goldie hinted that someone from Midas' past was making strategic power moves.[7]
Before Season 2[]
A surprising event occurred when an otherwise simple pickle from Kappa Kappa Factory suddenly came to life in the presence of Shadow Blade Hope and Outlaw Midas.[8] Dillinger, eager to explore different musical styles, eventually teamed up with The Brat. Later, he quickly realized that Lil Whip's sound didn't match his taste.[9] As his passion for music grew, so did his fame. Embracing his new identity, he took on the name Big Dill and became a rising star.
Chapter 6: Season 2[]
At this point, the Outlaws, still loosely connected and becoming friends, set their sights on Crimson City, now known as Crime City, with an ambitious, yet surprisingly easy goal: breaking into Fletcher Kane's banks and stealing his gold and treasures.[10] To support their efforts, Skillet, Joss, and Keisha Cross set up black markets throughout the Island. These hubs not only provided criminals with weapons and equipment but also became meeting points where outlaws could gather, relax, and forge new alliances. One of these new alliances was Midas, a legend among many like Cassidy,[11] going around helping people for free, which catches some questions from people such as Joss[12] and Skillet about what he's actually planning.[13]
Meanwhile, Skillet, dubbing the name King of the Boom, slightly returns out of retirement here and there and decides to himself that he should use his explosive plans to blow Lonewolf Lair into ruins after robbing him of all his wealth,[14] including making plans for this bombing at the black market of Crime City.[15] Joss on the other hand, intends on discovering how Oninoshima's magic is just science that is yet to be understood.[16]
Wanted: Skillet[]
The Looper finds themselves contacted by Skillet for a big gig. Skillet has them prove their worth by acquiring gold, granting them the nickname "Ratso". The Looper opens up a bank vault with Thermite and collects its treasure, serving as an explosive test for Skillet. Together, they sabotage Fletcher Kane's payphones to limit reinforcements, allowing Valentina, the so-called Robber Queen, to break into Kane's personal vault, while The Looper distracts the Alpha Guards on standby. They discover but ultimately decide to leave the collars and puppy chew toys, but split the gold between them.
Wanted: Joss[]
Joss, fascinated by chemistry and other sciences, refuses to believe what the people say about the magic surrounding her, thinking that there must be a scientific explanation for it all, including the seemingly miraculous birth of Big Dill and the gold spreading from the Spirit Realm portal. Noticing The Looper wasn't like other Outlaws, she contracted them to help her during her research. She first sends them to talk to Big Dill, in order to study him. Upon talking to Big Dill, The Looper help them to collect a few records and opening some bottles of brine, to get the party started over at Crime City and see him in his "natural habitat". Joss ultimately concludes Dillinger's just a regular party animal stuck in a briny body.
Later, Joss assumes that she might get evidences of gold's impact on people out of DNA samples, and sent The Looper to "recover" DNA samples from people who were absolutely not attacked with assault rifles. Finding no contamination samples within their DNA, she sent The Looper recover mineral samples with the Plasma Burst Laser to crumble stone structures. Noting them to be nearly perfect, she then asked The Looper to return at her black market at Magic Mosses in order to analyse the mineral samples. However, The Looper's analysis shows that it is simply a normal gold ore, leaving Joss dumbfounded. However, she still doesn't believe in magic and thinks there is another explanation.
Baron Escalation Tax[]
Baron alpha wolf Fletcher Kane, wanting to increase his wealth, took control over the Outlaws' Vending Machine mechanisms and applied a 100% tax increase onto previously sold items. However, the Black Market shops have remained exactly the same, with Keisha Cross considering it as a community good, especially after the outrageous Baron tax.[17]
Golden Gunslinger & rebellion against Kane[]
The legendary criminal, Midas, rises again in order to take down his old acquaintance, Fletcher Kane. He and his loyal right-hand man, Brutus, join forces with the Outlaws running the Black Market, in order to supply more weapons. The Golden King contacted The Looper, who had impressed him back in Chapter 5: Season 2, and gave them missions to test their abilities. Recognizing their worth, Midas decided to ally himself with The Looper, however, he did not trust them. In the meantime, The Outlaws all over the Island rebel against Fletcher Kane, following his taxes. Growing in fame and reverence, Midas gains his new title, The Golden Gunslinger.
Wanted: Midas[]
After a significant blow was dealt to Kane's multiple vaults, The Looper gained membership in the Outlaw Faction, and Midas contacted them again. He first tested whether he could trust them by having them do SHADOW Briefings, and then sent them to bribe the Outlaws with bars, before making them uniting the Outlaws under him against Fletcher Kane to ensure their loyalty. With The Looper's loyalty proven, Midas gave them a mission. He told them he had a hunch, and that The Looper had to confirm it by sending them analyze the residual energy traces near the broken Spirit Realm portal. Midas told them that if he was correct, both he and The Looper should recognize this mysterious energy as this is linked to their common past in Reality Zero. As The Looper used the sensor backback, they discovered energy traces of The Zero Point.
Midas later sent The Looper in Daigo's lair which had recently returned to activity in order to steal a copy of his mask making book, feeling the Mask Maker also wanted The Zero Shard. For unknown reason, Daigo associated himself with Fletcher Kane and supplied his army with masks of powers. Midas and The Looper later had a discussion, in which Midas revealed a lot of people wanted the shard, including Daigo and Fletcher Kane and admitted that he also wanted it for his own ambitions, but that for the moment, The Looper's and his interests converged: stopping Daigo and Fketcher Kane from getting the Shard. He even agreed to have to work with Jones and Hope, The Looper's allies, if necessary.
Legendary Outlaw: The Looper[]
The Looper continued to work on uniting the Outlaw, becoming a renowned Outlaw in the process and gaining access to the Legendary Outlaw Keycard of the Outlaw Faction, allowing them to benefit from all the Outlaws services. They again got a talk with Midas. In this discussion Midas recognized the extent to which uniting the outlaws with so much disparate perspective was a thankless work, but told them that nevertheless if the momentum could be maintained, Kane's days as Baron would be numbered, as surprisingly the "team" work very well together. Midas then thanked The Looper for their assistance.[18]
Wanted: Keisha Cross[]
As Cassidy Quinn is preparing a heist as Outlaws were ordered by Midas to keep Kane bothered and busy, her best friend Keisha Cross contacts The Looper. Testing their abilities first, she send them help Cassidy. Agreeing to help Cassidy steal Kane's personal Whiplash, both go to his personal garage, whose keys Cassidy had already stolen. The Looper and Cassidy enter the car, with the former taking the wheel, and run away with it, while talking.
Later, The Looper went to spy on Kane's communication. Spying on communication, they hear Kane react to their recent heist with Cassidy, then discover things such as Kane delivering gold to Daigo, Midas being on the move and a mysterious machine being installed at Daigo's workshop.
Espionage continues[]
Continuing to spy on Kane's communications, The Looper learns about the latter wishing to put an end to Midas. Then, they learn move about his involvement with Daigo, the latter being given enough authority to command Alpha guards, and his workshop being protected by them. They also learn of the arrangement between the two: Fletcher provides Daigo with gold, so that he can give him the power he promised him.
Wanted: Baron[]
Midas sent The Looper to investigate Kane's plan, first sending them to Lonewolf Lair, where they found files concerning research on the Zero Point Shard, which worried them. They then searched Kane's vault, noticing the significant absence of bars. They then found a mysterious mask hanging on a wall, which The Looper quickly made the connection.
Midas then asked The Looper to gear up with suitable equipment to take Kane down, as part of his plan to take him down because he needed The Looper alive in order to win. After that, he sent them to take down Kane's lieutenants, knowing they were carrying orders, and hoping that one of them had received secret orders. Reading the orders, they realized that the gold was being given to a secret collaborator, whose identity Midas easily guessed.
Seeking to verify if his intuition was correct, Midas sent The Looper to attack the convoys to find out where they were headed. Learning it was indeed the Mask Workshop, The Looper was sent investigating it. Arriving at the scene, the dark fog made their skin tingle, and they guessed that the Island itself wasn't happy with what Daigo had done there. Descending into the secret lair, they found the dark mask-making machine, which seemed to have been used for something sinister. Then, continuing their search, The Looper discovered what Daigo had done with Kane's bars and went to report to Midas.
Reporting their discoveries to Midas, the latter understood Kane and Daigo's plan: Daigo had been supplying Alpha with masks and promised Kane ultimate power. With Kane's gold, Daigo made a mask powerful enough to breach the spirit realm and collect the Zero Shard. While noting Daigo will likely betray Kane if he succeeds, Midas notes that they absolutely must be stopped, even if it meant collaborating with The Looper's "hero" friends.
Daigo's Fate Event[]

Escorted by Kane, Daigo once again heads to a Dragon Portal—this time in Magic Mosses—and begins siphoning energy from it, albeit on a much grander scale, using the sinister mask's enhanced power.
Busy with the ritual to open the portal, Daigo orders Fletcher Kane, instructing him to deal with The Looper and put an end to their interference. Upon Kane's failure to stop them, Daigo expresses his annoyance, retreating through a void tear.
On his final attempt, while Fletcher Kane was defeated by The Looper once and for all, Daigo managed to finally open the portal—betraying and abandoning his Kane to his fate, calling it pragmatism as he alone could enter the Spirit Realm.
Chapter 6: Season 3[]
While the faction disbanded, most of the members continued to work for or alongside Midas. In Joss' case, she begun to work at Midas and Hope's Supernova Academy as a Chemistry Professor. Midas finally accepts the requests of Cassidy Quinn to be his protege, so long as she can prove herself worthy. However,Skillet tells Cassidy that the gold man isn't exactly to be trusted, but she doesn't pay that detail any mind.
Skillet himself, however, gladly accepts work as a spy for espionage under The Golden Gunslinger. This gets him another job with The Looper, a job that he does no work within, and when confronted, he admits to have "played possum". Sending them off with a bomb threat, The Looper reports to the gold man with a good word on Skillet's espionage skills, pleasing Midas.
Dillinger and The Brat, the well-known Tasty Bois, get into an argument with DJ Yonder and DJ Bop over whose the better musician and deserving of their fame. Big Dill, still loving his musical partner, feels like The Brat "ain't got much spice", and so tasting what fame has been like, Big Dill prepares himself for a true solo album, and to make it big on his own.
