Plasma Burst Laser is an Uncategorized Item in Fortnite: Battle Royale, that was added in Chapter 6: Season 2.
Functionality[]
The Plasma Burst Laser fires a continuous and accurate beam, with a maximum range of 75 meters, that goes on cooldown after prolonged use. After a few seconds of firing, the laser triggers an explosion that deals damage in a small radius. A meter next to the reticle fills up as the item is used, indicating when the next explosion will occur and when the laser will overcharge and enter cooldown. The reticle changes slightly when aiming at a valid surface and changes again when aiming at a player, character, or another entity.
The Plasma Burst Laser can also be used to harvest Materials, though it yields approximately 60% fewer resources compared to the Pickaxe.
Firing the item reduces the durability meter by approximately 1.2 points per second (1.9%/s). Once the durability meter reaches 0%, the item breaks and is removed from the player's inventory.

- The Plasma Burst Laser can be used to speed up a Vault opening, due to its high fire rate and periodic explosions.
- The Plasma Burst Laser is also very good in early game due to being able to quickly kill an opponent who hasn't fully shielded up yet.
Counters[]
- Keeping at mid-long range can severely reduce the effectiveness of an opponent's Plasma Burst Laser, due to its low damage per shot (excluding the explosions).
