The Portal Device, sometimes known as the Rift Device or Rift Gun, was an Item in Fortnite: Battle Royale, exclusive to the Zero Crisis Finale and Impostors Playlists.
Functionality
On both Playlists, it has a different purpose and mechanic. In the Zero Crisis Finale it is used to close the Pure Portals, zipping it from it's start to the end. In the Impostors, it is used to trap Agents between Realities, helping the Impostors win.

History
Chapter 2: Season 6
- Zero Crisis Finale: The Portal Device was used by Agent Jones until he was turned into a Rift Butterfly. The Looper picks it up and uses it to close the Pure Portals The Zero Point created, destabilizing the Device while doing so. After Jones reclaims his Portal Device, he overloads it and throws it into The Zero Point, trapping himself in The Loop.
Chapter 2: Season 7
- Update v17.40: The Portal Devices return in the Impostors Playlist, used by the Impostors to trap Agents between Realities.
