'''Rebooting''' is a gameplay mechanic in [[Fortnite: Battle Royale]]. It was introduced in [[Season 8]]. 

== Functionality ==
When a player is [[Elimination|eliminated]] in any of the team-based modes ([[Duos]], [[Trios]], [[Squads]] etc.), they will drop a reboot card. A living teammate who collects the card has the possibility to resurrect the eliminated player at a [[Reboot Van Spawner|Reboot Van]], otherwise the card's timer will expire and the teammate is permanently eliminated.  The feature is only available in the aforementioned modes, however, reboot vans appear in [[Solo]] but are unfunctional. The reboot vans do not spawn at all in Team Rumble.  In competitive playlists, players eliminated by [[Competitive (Gamemode)|Storm Surge]] will not drop a Reboot Card, and cannot be rebooted as a result.

To reboot players, a living teammate must first find and collect their reboot card, then take it to a Reboot Van.

After doing so a '''reboot van'''  must be located. The player must interact with the van for 10 seconds using the interact button. This process can be expedited with the aid of other living teammates. If they let go of the button before the interaction process is complete, the progress of the reboot will slowly go down until the time has completely restarted. If a player (including enemies) starts a reboot again before the timer has hit zero, the reboot will save the progress and will thus take less time, the amount depends on how close the reboot was to being complete. Players who are rebooted will respawn with a weapon (usually a low tier pistol) and 100 [[wood]].

Upon completion, the reboot van will flash its headlights and honk its horn twice, then display a blue beacon above it. The space above the van will create a rift once for every player that needs to be rebooted. After the respawn process completes, the van will be disabled for approx. 1 minute to recharge; chiming when the van is functional again.

If all living teammates are eliminated, the reboot cards will automatically expire.

An active reboot van can be seen on visual audio from about 100 meters away. However this was changed in Chapter 3 to be 400+ meters away. This was reverted in Chapter 4.

==Trivia ==
*During [[Fortnitemares 2020: Midas' Revenge|Fortnitemares 2020]], the vans were disabled, with the graphic on the side replaced with static, due to the implementation of [[Shadows]].
**The same graphic appeared on the reboot van at [[Corny Complex]] during [[Operation: Sky Fire]].
*Although they have no function in Solos, the vans are still present and active, they just cannot be used.
*Reboot Vans cannot be destroyed by players, though the [[Darth Vader]] Boss can throw them at players (since [[Update v21.20]]) as it counts as a small prop.
*This feature was leaked before its release due to a glitch in the [[Replay Client|Spectator mode]] of the Luxe Cup.
*[[The Yacht]] was the first landmark to have a reboot van, introduced in [[Chapter 2: Season 3]].
*In [[Chapter 2: Season 7]], [[Stealthy Stronghold]] became the first Unnamed Location to have a reboot van.
