The Refinery Event was a Major Live-Event in Chapter 5: Season 3. It was the buildup event leading to Chapter 5: Season 4.
Buildup[]
In the Chapter 5: Season 2 Story Quests: The Oracle foretold a prophecy of the darkened skies and choking dusts.
During Chapter 5: Season 3: Megalo Don declared in Mysterious Transmissions that he will raze the island to the ground once his Leviathan is refueled. Over the course of the season, Redline Rig has been slowly digging into the source of Nitro and building pipeline to refuel the Leviathan. In Story Quests: The Pandora's Box has been communicating with Hope, warning her about The Wanderer's plans with Megalo Don.
On August 6th, 2024, a countdown could be seen just east of Brutal Beachhead.

- 5:00 AM ET: The countdown has been activated.
- August 10th, 2024
- 2:00 PM ET: The countdown finishes, leading to a speech by Megalo Don. Nitro begins fueling his Leviathan until the pipeline gets disrupted by The Wanderer and explodes. The explosions travel through the pipelines running through Megalo Depot and connecting to Redline Rig, causing them to explode and leading to a bigger explosion near the location, uncovering Pandora's Box inside the crater.
