Do you see it now? You were meant to be the Hope at the bottom of Pandora's box.

” |
Hope (also known as Elpis in Greek Mythology) is the personified spirit of Hope from Pandora's Box. She is founder of The Underground and the sister of Valeria. She led the fight against The Society and the Wasteland Warriors. She also followed The Looper's lead, joining them and their immortal allies against Zeus and his allies.
She is one of the three main protagonists of Chapter 5 and Chapter 6, alongside The Looper and Jones.
Personality[]
Hope is a rebellious young woman with a good sense of justice and heroic ideals unlike her family of people with "great record of destroying the world". Hope is also a very artistic person as most of the graffiti arts on Helios island were made by Hope herself. Hope is usually a pretty friendly person but when the Pandora's Box is involved, she can be frightening, impatient, impulsive and short-tempered.
Although Hope viewed herself as a nemesis to her sister Valeria, Hope's deeply cares about her. When Valeria opened the Pandora's Box, Hope consider herself on the hook to fixing its ever expanding mess.
Hope considered Jones as her mentor with wisdom beyond his years, and Jones followed along on Hope's journey because she reminded him of his younger years.
During Chapter 5: Season 4, Hope lead an army of heroes, Avengers and X-Men. With everyone looking up to her as the Hope of the Pandora's Box, Hope started to show signs of fears and uneasiness. When Doctor Doom suddenly appeared out of nowhere ready to fight her, Hope broke down in fear, but Jones and the Oracle were there to help her get back up and reassure her that the fight will go well.
Appearance[]
Hope is a young adult woman with a rebel aesthetic and cat-themed clothing. To everyone's eyes, Hope is just a normal human, but to The Pantheon god's eyes, she is a glowing spirit of hope.[6] After the Absolute Doom Event, Hope was forced to wear a golden arm cast to cover up damage she received from the Pandora's Box energy.

Timeline[]
Before Chapter 5[]
Hope and her family were raised in The Society, a group founded by Montague comprised of the rich and elite on the island. Hope and Clara had known each other for a long time while she was part of their ranks.[12] Valeria rose to become the head of her and Hope's family, and made her way to the top of The Society alongside Montague, Hope thus taking an elite role. Despite growing up in the higher ranks, Hope came to resent what The Society stood for, Valeria's growing obsession with power after finding their grandfather's books on The Pantheon and Pandora's Box, and her exclusion for being younger[13]. She left The Society to form The Underground, and built a group of like-minded rebels who had also been wronged by The Society, determined to knock them down. Jones later joined her group for help in finding Peely, in exchange for his help against The Society.[1]
Chapter 5: Season 1[]
In the Takedown Quests, Hope sends The Looper out to distract The Society while she and Jones try and locate Peely. As a team, her, Jones, and The Looper take out Society Guards, steal Society Medallions, and defeat each of the Society's bosses for information on where Peely is located. Eventually, they find and free Peely from Fencing Fields, leaving the location and The Society in shambles.[14] After they rescue Peely, Hope learns Valeria is undertaking a mysterious project, leaving Hope concerned.[15]
Towards the end of the season, Valeria's project is revealed; forcefully summoning and opening Pandora's Box, unleashing hundreds of souls from The Underworld and malevolent spirits onto the island.
Chapter 5: Season 2[]
After The Society's first defeat, The Underground was disbanded, having completed its initial mission. However, Valeria's opening of Pandora's Box incurred the wrath of the gods, causing The Pantheon to arrive on the island and take down any remaining members of The Society. Zeus had plans to end mortalkind, based on his worries of a prophecy in which his reign would end by the hands of a mortal. Hope worried about The Pantheon[16] and initially wanted to stay out of Zeus' conflict.

However, she eventually realized The Underground was still needed to stop Zeus and anyone that could come after, prompting her to reform it and asking Jones to join her in the fight.[17] Hope helped The Looper to win the final battle against Zeus, marking the Mount Olympus throne in her graffiti and The Underground's insignia to show their triumph.[18]
Chapter 5: Season 3[]
After the arrival of the Wasteland Warriors, Hope decided to spring back into action and called up Jones so that he could ask The Looper for some help while the two of them gather intel about Megalo Don's shady plan. As they got recon around the Wastelands, Hope learned that the Warriors were in possession of gems from Pandora's Box, and was determined to get them out of circulation.
She tasked The Looper to help her get the gems, but when she got her hands on the first one, she was slammed by a continuous headache from the gem itself. As she gained more gems, they showed her prophetic visions of Megalo Don working with a mysterious wanderer, promises of whatever she wanted, and occasionally nausea. When she got the last of the gems, The Oracle appeared to talk to her and act as her guide. After the Redline Rig exploded, Magneto met with Hope for a conversation.
Afterward, The Oracle questioned her on why her connection to Pandora's Box didn't destroy her. Hope understood that what the Box showed her wasn't what would come to be if she gave in. Jones was confident Hope wouldn't give in, but The Oracle begs to differ. Hope was always meant to be intertwined with Pandora's Box, but with The Wanderer interfering, the course of her fate is now sealed with his and the Box itself couldn't just be closed to solve their problems. The Oracle presses that Hope has to fight The Wanderer, but she doesn't see herself in that position. The Oracle continues that she already has everything she needs to take a stand to win, and others would follow her stead to help.
Chapter 5: Season 4[]
The Wanderer revealed himself as Doom, and took the powers of Pandora's Box to subsequently take over the island. Hope suited up as a hero alongside Jones, now with both The Looper's and Oracle's help and an army of Marvel heroes on her side; she began drafting plans to take down Doom's reign. When she learned that Doom was not on the island, she worked to find ways to lure him to the island and then defeat him.
After fruitless research on the part of Jones and Hope, Shuri came to them with the idea of recalibrating the previously decommissioned Rift Beacons left behind by Magneto to eject Doom from the island and send him back to where he came from. While setting up the recalibrators, Hope expressed her own self-doubt about being chosen by the Box as the prophecy's recipient, saying that she had no powers or wasn't a master tactician, but the most she could do was try. The Rift Recalibrator's first target would be Castle Doom's Doombot to serve as a test. However, when The Looper attacked the Doombot after Hope and The Underground cleared a path for them, the Rift Recalibrators didn't work as planned, leaving The Looper forced to destroy the Doombot by themselves. Hope and Shuri later discovered that Mysterio and Emma Frost tampered with the Recalibrators, which caused them to short-circuit. In order for them to try again, Mysterio and Emma Frost had to be neutralized, and Hope had decided Mysterio was first to go.
After sending The Looper on various sabotage missions around Doomstadt as well as saving people from Mysterio's grasp, she went to confront the villain along with The Looper and Jones, and defeated him. The Looper and Hope grafittied Doomstadt and the Doctor Doom statue to make their mark and irritate Doom.
While The Looper was testing Stark Tech, Hope received power dampeners from Stark in order to reduce Emma Frost's telepathic abilities. After sending confidential instructions to The Looper, and having them place the power dampeners, Hope received an alarming call from Jones indicating the imminent arrival of Doom, whose Pandora Armor seems to have been finished, forcing The Looper to take down Emma Frost alone while she was having a panic attack.
After weeks of preparing herself, the time had come for her to face Doom. Hope and her allies set up five Rift Beacons near the central lake, all positioned towards Doom's Arcane Forge. Peelverine, who was left in charge, tasked The Looper with activating them to charge in preparation.

As the beacons finished charging up, Hope activated the rift, but the Forge was shielded by Doom's sudden presence, leaving it standing while unleashing a powerful energy burst that engulfed the surrounding area with a wall of debris. Slowly emerging from the dust as a giant, Doom swiftly annihilated almost everyone who opposed him in the area. With him flicking War Machine aside, Jones hurled his shield at Doom in an attempt to protect his friends, but it had no effect and Doom knocked him to the ground. With Doom poised to finish him off, Hope leaped into action, grabbing Jones' shield and shielding them both as he launched energy blasts at them, imbuing the shield with Pandora's power. In a bold move, Doom grabbed Hope, bringing her face-to-face with him. She hit him in the eye with the shield still charged with Pandora's magic, leaving Doom with a scar over his eye, enabling a weak point to suppress his physical immunity. Hope injured her own arm in the process. Her hero and Looper allies stood beside her, as they all rushed at Doom engaging in an epic battle. Ultimately the heroes and Loopers prevailed, managing to weaken Doom enough to activate the final rift beacon, stripping him of his Pandora's Box powers and sending him back to his home reality.
Chapter 2 Remix[]
Hope's Audio Logs are her messages to Valeria can be found in four locations across the remixed Apollo island. They are assumed to be voicemails left for her sister during the story of Chapter 5, specifically Chapter 5: Season 3 onward[19], after Valeria fled the island.
Remix: The Finale[]
During the end of Remix: The Finale, Hope, Jones and The Looper could be seen traveling to Reality: 783, with a fragment of the destroyed Zero Point following behind.
Chapter 6: Season 1[]
Hope and Jones would set up a small base in Hopeful Heights, where they would begin to search the island for an artifact similar to Pandora's Box giving little and vague information to what they are looking for, while searching for this artifact Hope would meet Kendo and Jade, sharing similar goals the three became allies with Hope and Kendo quickly becoming close friends. She would also strike a friendship with Nyanja, who has been helping her train her physical skills. Later The Looper was sent to deliver demon essence to Hope by Kendo and Jade who have been investigating the invasion of oni, once given the essence she tells The Looper of her suspicions about the myths and magic emerging from the island suspecting that the demons must have a connection with the artifact they're searching for.
Kendo would discover his sister missing and now trapped behind one of the portals of the spirit realm, speaking of a mysterious shard. Suspecting his older brother might have answers, and knowing he has been experimenting with dark magic he tasks The Looper with searching around Daigo’s underground workshop underneath their family’s mask shop, The Looper discovers Sprites locked behind cages being fused within Daigo’s masks through a machine, with a nearby painting showing Daigo giving Jade a special mask he made. The Looper confronts Daigo about Jade, he denies any wrongdoing, he tells The Looper Jade got herself cursed by the demons so he made a mask to protect her. Kendo blames his siblings for being both reckless and arrogant and causing Jade to get herself stuck within the spirit realm.
After a bit of thinking Kendo begins to wonder if the comet holds the secret to freeing Jade. He gives The Looper three spirit charms to place around the area. After The Looper goes out searching for the broken meteor splinters finding one at Shogun's Solitude. Hope gets involved sending The Looper to solve riddles within Nightshift Forest acquiring the second meteor splinter, Hope realizes that the demons are inextricably tied to the splinters and sends The Looper to retrieve a map from a Demon Warrior, the map leads them to the last splinter. Kendo tells The Looper to place the splinters on the Spirit Forge as they begin to forge a weapon from the shards called The Splinter Blades, Kendo decides to give the blades The Night Rose hoping she would know how to free Jade, The Looper defeats The Puppeteer freeing The Night Rose from its strings giving her some freedom. She tells The Looper the blades carry the comet’s strange power, saying they could permanently free herself and Jade from the hands of the demons, she takes the blades knowing who to give them too while asking for The Looper to trust her.
The Confrontation Event[]
The Night Rose would later hand over the blades to Daigo, who was planning on freeing Jade by himself using the frozen spirit gate near Warrior's Watch. Once there Daigo would use 6 magical mask imbued with dark magic to open the portal, later forming a bubble around himself to better channel his magic into the portal connecting it to the Spirit Realm. Although Kendo and Hope tried to talk him out of freeing Jade alone he would ignore them at every turn and continued on with his plan. At last the portal was fully opened and Daigo would free his sister from the demon's curse but was confronted by Shogun X. The two sides engaged in a battle above the island, Daigo would use the splinter blades to fight Shogun X, while the shogun drew more power out of the spirit realm. The battle was coming to an end with Shogun X having slashed Daigo getting him to drop onto his knees allowing the demon to grab him by the neck holding him in the air as he prepared to finish the final blow. Daigo seeing an opening would use the blades once again to deliver the finish blow to Shogun X instead, intern defeating the demon and sending all the energy back into the spirit realm. Daigo would vanish afterward supposedly to confront dark presence he had been within the spirt realm, Jade's curse was lifted as well as The Night Roses with a golden spirt realm portal left behind seeping out gold from within.
Chapter 6: Season 2[]
Hope is working on a plan to enter the Spirit Realm and battle demons in order to reclaim the Zero Point Shard. When The Looper asks if she has found her purpose, she reveals that since Jones took her under his wing, she hopes to do the same if she ever meets someone like herself. She becomes curious as to how Midas went from her reality to Reality: 783, but has heard stories to not trust him.
Later, in his fight against Kane, Midas admitted to The Looper he was interested in the shard, and wanted to stop Kane and his Mask Maker from getting it, relucantly proposing to ally with Hope and Vengeance Jones. After The Looper discovered Daigo's and Kane plan, Midas reiterated his offer of alliance with Hope and Jones to The Looper.
Galactic Battle[]
Episode I: Imperial Takeover[]

Hope and Kendo witnessing the arrival of Galactic Empire.
Following the arrival of the Death Star, Luke Skywalker and the rest of the Resistance arrived on Oninoshima to help the residents survive the galactic threat. Most of The Resistance set up their Resistance Base while the Clone Troopers set up their own Outpost Enclave and began working as a unified effort in spite of the Empire's new allies. Luke, determined to enlist new allies, tells Leia that people such as Hope, Jones and The Looper will be good to recruit.
Death Star Sabotage[]
After a successful assault on Star Destroyers around the Death Star, Hope, Jones, The Looper and their resistance allies successfully infiltrate the Death Star. Some disguise themselves as Stormtroopers, while others pose as prisoners, allowing them to slip past Imperial forces undetected. Once inside, they sabotage the tractor beam systems and other critical technologies, significantly reducing the Death Star's threat level—provided their mission succeeds.
Meanwhile, Fishstick attempts to experiment with a Rift-To-Go in space—an untested maneuver. The device caus him to vanish from the group and makes it appear in space, outside. This sabotage effort serves as the core of the resistance's inside operation, while the Blue Squadron maintains communication with Jones and Hope to coordinate their bombing run.
After disabling the Death Star's laser cannons, to allow Blue Leader's Tie Fighter Squadron to do their move, the team is soon confronted by a pair of Stormtroopers. Jones tries to use Jedi mind tricks, but the attempt fails, forcing the group to neutralize the enemies with conventional weapons. This is followed by a trip to the Tie Fighter ships room, with a fight against the Imperial forces. Just as escape seems within reach, a TIE Fighter crashes into the bridge, separating Hope from the rest of the team.
Trapped in what appears to be a dead end, the group faces Emperor Palpatine himself. He effortlessly deflects their attacks, disarms them using the Force, and overwhelms them with Force Lightning. With the team incapacitated and no options remaining, Jones prepares for the worst—until Hope returns just in time. She uses a Rift-To-Go to shield Jones from Palpatine's final strike. Though unsure if it would work, the gambit pays off: Jones, Hope and The Looper escapes moments before the Death Star explodes along with Fishstick and the few surviving members, falling toward the Island. However, the debris rains down on the Island, striking several places as well as the portal at Predator Peak.
Colliding with the Spirit Realm portal, the fragment triggered a powerful energy wave that hits the reality barrier surrounding Oninoshima and sends a reality wave across the Island, hitting a Battle Bus with people inside and granting superpowers. At the same time, The Looper crashed on Oninoshima, unconscious, after being hit by the powerful wave. Just like the people of the Battle Bus, they also awakened powers of an unknown nature. In the meantime, seizing the chaos, Mask Maker Daigo breaks free alongside the Demon Warriors and invades Oninoshima.
Following the sabotage of the Death Star, a wave of Zero Point energy resulting from the collision of a fragment of the Death Star with the Predator Peak Portal affected a group of people in the Battle Bus, granting them superpowers. Around this time, Superman arrived in Reality: 783 and saved the Battle Bus and its passengers from the imminent crash. In light of Daigo reigniting the threat of the Demon Warriors alongside his new lieutenant, Kor, Hope decided to found a superhero academy, leadings to the creation of the Supernovas.
Island Stories Week 1[]
Hope decides to focus on the main problem, Daigo, so she sends The Looper off to talk to Kendo to help him. Together, they went to investigate on the Demons, confronting Daigo before investigating his Scout and Overlord Spires. In the end, Kendo and The Looper realized that Daigo had not betrayed them, but that he was controlled, heart and mind, by something else. In the end, Kendo finally starts to believe Jades' words, that maybe there is truly some way to save Daigo from the mind corruption he has undergone. The Looper then reported everything to Hope, the latter noting they have to defeat the Spires, save Daigo, find a way into the Spirit Realm, before confronting the dark presence there.
The Trials of Morgan Myst[]
Hope warmly welcomes The Looper to the Academy, expressing her amazement at how everything came together so seamlessly. As part of their initiation, she assigns them to test the newly developed Supernova Gear—a cutting-edge creation the Academy has recently engineered. Once the test is complete, Hope requests their help with a more delicate matter: Morgan's shadow proxies have become unsynchronized. During this task, The Looper discovers Morgan's ongoing struggles with self-confidence. Hope, however, is undeterred—she sees echoes of herself in Morgan and remains determined to encourage her growth. In fact, she firmly believes that The Looper, more than anyone else, can help Morgan's potential to truly blossom. With The Looper's help, Morgan regains a bit of her confidence and genuinely thanks them for their support, visibly more at ease and hopeful.
Trivia[]
- According to Megalo Don, the name "Hope" might not be her true name.[20]
- Based on Greek Mythology, her true name may be "Elpis".
- However, The Oracle seems to suggest her name truly is Hope, making Megalo Don's statement just an angry statement.
- Judging by how the lyrics to Hope’s signature song “You Don’t Know Me” is in Japanese and is sung by Hope, she seems to know and understand the language.
- Her main theme is You Don't Know Me. It was composed by DEATHNYANN.
