Shotguns are a subclass of Ranged Weapons in Fortnite: Save the World. The purpose of these weapons is for short range combat. Most Shotguns use Shells 'N' Slugs , while some use Energy Cells.

Functionality

Shotguns fill the role of a short range weapon and are often used for up close engagements, due to their high damage per shot. Shotguns uniquely fire a spread of pellets rather than a single shot. Swapping between two shotguns after firing results in a small cooldown to prevent the player dealing too much damage per second. Shotguns are very weak at longer ranges and oftentimes cannot even hit a husk at medium range.

Trivia

• Unlike the Shotguns in Battle Royale, there is no cooldown when switching Shotguns in Save the World, making it possible to 'Double Pump' slow firing Shotguns for increased DPS.
  • However, Double Pump in Save the World is less practical than in Battle Royale, since there are many high fire rate Shotguns, and its fire rate can be increased more by using Perk Recombobulator.
