- — In-Game Description
One bad apple in a shady suit created from an intentional lawsuit, that was caused by The Mega Drop Update, Tart Tycoon is an illustrated outfit that represents the monopolistic company Apple in the Nineteen Eighty-Fortnite, who kicked Fortnite off of the App Store due to the app having a direct payment to Epic as an option. His head is a reference to it's iconic logo. His name is a wordplay on the fruit apple and the company Apple (hence the name "Tart Tycoon"). He doesn’t smile even with Emotes that have happy facial expressions.
Tart Tycoon is first seen in Nineteen Eighty-Fortnite on the big screen on August 13, 2020.
Tart Tycoon & Nineteen Eighty-Fortnite
Tart Tycoon was first seen in the Nineteen Eighty-Fortnite trailer on the screen as the "Big Brother", which parodies Apple's "1984" trailer, which is itself an allusion to George Orwell's book "1984". He talks about how he wants no one to be able to play Fortnite anymore on iOS devices, and refers a "war" between Epic Games and Apple. During his speech, a group of Sledges chase after Brite Bomber who invading the theatre, and Brite Bomber herself throws the Rainbow Smash Harvesting Tool at the screen, thus "defeating" Tart Tycoon.
He is later seen as the poster character for the FreeFortnite Cup, which was first teased on August 21, 2020 and was made unlockable in the said tournament by gaining 10 points within twelve matches or four hours on August 23, 2020.
The former release date, September 14, 2020, was teased on August 26, 2020
Post FreeFortnite Cup
Sometime during the release of Chapter 2: Season 4, the release date of Tart Tycoon was changed. The outfit was officially released a day later on August 28, 2020.
