The Authority was a Location in Fortnite: Battle Royale. It replaced The Agency at the start of Chapter 2: Season 3 after it was destroyed in The Device Event.
Appearance[]
The Authority was the SHADOW HQ and a SHADOW version of The Agency. It was constructed by Jules. A stonewall used to surround The Authority to protect it from the flood. You can see a faint image of the Agency in a glass table in one of the Authority’s rooms. There is a raised helicopter pad to the side of the main building. Ziplines help to move efficiently to each corner of the Stonewall. In Chapter 2: Season 4, it was abandoned and the Stonewall was lowered down. During Fortnitemares 2020, Midas has been summoned back through a ritual and it has become The Ruins.

Chapter 2: Season 3[]
- After The Device live event, The Agency was destroyed. SHADOW used its remains to build a new Spy Base, just like the Agency, only with some differences.
Chapter 2: Season 4[]
- The Insides of the Authority is starting to pack up and the building is abandoned. The sea wall is gone but the foundations of it are still there. This is most probably due to the Marvel Heroes entering the island.
- October 21, 2020: Shadow Midas and the Ghostly Ghost Henchmen appeared and The Authority became The Ruins.
Trivia[]
- Jules can be seen laying the foundation for the sea wall in the Chapter 2: Season 3 Launch Trailer. That wall would then be completely built for all that season.
- The Helipad for the Choppa has been raised to the upper portion rather than ground level (this is probably because of the Season 3 flood).
- A reflection of The Agency can be seen in the meeting room.
- The Authority has its own Fishing loot pool, which is the only one that contains the Midas Flopper.
- A shrine with a portrait of Brutus in his SHADOW uniform can be found at the top floor of the Authority.
- In Update 14.30, Midas' golden chair was found at the top floor, signifying his return in Fortnitemares.
- At the end of Chapter 2: Season 4, it was destroyed by Galactus in The Devourer of Worlds live event.
