- — In-Game Description
The End was a Live Event in Fortnite: Battle Royale. It was the concluding Live Event for Chapter 2: Season 8 and Chapter 2 in its entirety.
Buildup[]
Over Fortnitemares, The Convergence formed with The Cube Queen trapped in a sphere, just like The Ice King.
The Convergence had 4 states in total, the fourth being The Pyramid. After The Pyramid formed, it started to slowly spread the corruption all over Apollo.
The corruption biome covered most of the map, completely engulfing Corny Crops, Boney Burbs and Weeping Woods.
On November 24, 2021, the Live Event Countdown appeared and an XP Bonus was granted to help those finish the Chapter 2 - Season 8 Battle Pass, regardless of their level.
Event Summary[]
25 minutes before the Live Event, the Rebooted Cube formed a shield around the Guava Fort to protect The Loopers. 10 minutes before the event, waves of Cube Monsters, mainly a unique smaller Brute variant, began swarming the Guava Fort. During this time, the players were given a Legendary Assault Rifle and a Legendary Revolver, as well as unlimited ammo and access to the Turret Station to fight the Cube Monsters off.
Once the countdown concluded, The Cube Queen fired a beam of corrupted energy into the sky, opening Reality Zero's barrier for The Last Reality which revealed hundreds of golden Motherships, along with a massive Death Star-like ship that sent waves of Saucers along with Abductors to attack players and the Rebooted Cube's shield. The shield is eventually destroyed by the onslaught of shots from the waves of Saucers. The Cube Queen then summoned a Cube Barricade that surrounded The Guava Fort, which then opened and spawned in many Caretakers while Sideways Bubbles appeared all over The Island. Abductors were seen destroying several POIs in the background, while the Caretakers were attempting to destroy the Rebooted Cube which successfully fought back. An Abductor then flew over the Rebooted Cube and zapped it with a beam while The Loopers, who had their weapons taken away prior, were forced to observe its destruction and watch their comrades finished off one by one by the Red Saucers that had disarmed them. Afterwards, the screen cuts down underground, to The Bridge.
This leads to a cutscene inside the Imagined Order's base, where it is revealed that Agent Jones has been captured by Doctor Slone, who plans to execute him for treason. Before she can do that, The Foundation arrives, eliminating an IO Guard by punching him in the face and Gunnar by smashing his face onto a computer that controls Jones' vitals. Slone was surprised by this, thinking he had died in the Zero Crisis Finale event during the formation of The Spire. The Foundation then removes his mask, revealing him to be played by none other than Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson himself. Slone then proceeds to pull out a Legendary Pistol and fire at The Foundation, resulting in him locking Slone inside the room by punching the door lock.
Jones and The Foundation then head into The Bridge. They successfully start slowly reversing the gyroscopic orientation of the Island, while fighting off IO Guards with two weapons from The Foundation. While flying over the Island, The Scientist and The Visitor spot the surviving Loopers and bring them to safety inside the hidden bunker near Guava Fort. The Visitor flies off while The Scientist follows the Loopers into the bunker, after blowing up the entrance to prevent The Last Reality from following through.
The Scientist then leads the Loopers through the IO's base as the Island begins to vertically rotate, and The Bridge starts to collapse. The Loopers are led to the epicentre of the Island, where they meet up with Jones and Foundation, until a massive Caretaker smashes the skylight, causing Loopers to emerge in the ocean, far from the Island.
Once the Island reaches a 90-degree tilt, The Cube Queen teleports away, closing the rift to The Last Reality, and losing, for now. The remaining Abductors are destroyed by the Island's descent. The impact of Artemis causes a megatsunami, which hits The Looper, leading into the Unplayable Period, informally known as Drift To Artemis. The screen shows The Looper's equipped Outfit floating unconscious on a small tree log. The player slowly reaches The Flipped Island until the Unplayable Period ends, oficially starting Chapter 3.

Trivia[]
- This is the first Live Event to have a cutscene in it. The second event to do this is Fracture.
- Promos of the Live Event hinted at the flipping of the Island.
- The Last Reality ships in this fleet all have golden color, unlike The Mothership from Chapter 2 - Season 7, which might mean these are higher ranked or are powered by Golden Cubes. Although the Saucers are still purple in the center spot.
- The Scientist appears in his bonus White style instead of on his Default style.
- Dark Jonesy dialogue "sacrifice and loss." foreshadowed the Rebooted Cube's death during the event.
- The Foundation's entrance theme used the leitmotif from Season 4 trailer's theme.
- The Scientist and The Visitor's entrance theme used the leitmotif from Chapter 1 The End Theme.
- Agent Jones' prisoner outfit was teased by Donald Mustard in one of his tweets.
- Though he appears in the event, Prisoner Jones does not have a CID.
- The Rebooted Cube revives knocked players and reboots eliminated players during the event.
- The Golden Abductors destroyed several locations during the event, those being: Brutus' Basin, Hydro 16, Believer Beach, Shattered Saucer, Viking Vessel, Half of Holly Hedges, Half of Retail Row, Half of Lazy Lake, Gas N’ Grub, Base Oscar, Lockie’s Lighthouse, Scenic Spot, ??? and Camp Cod were among the locations destroyed.
- Sideways Anomalies consumed Boney Burbs, Dusted Depot and Defiant Dish during the event.
- A unique version of the Saucers appeared when players were stripped of their weapons, featuring red coloring and a beam similar to that of the Kymera Ray Gun instead of the energy cannon.
- While players were being "eliminated" by the red Saucers, the Message Feed would display "The Last Reality finally eliminated Player".
- This however was bugged and did not always appear for everyone.
- The IO base that The Scientist and the Loopers travel through is a broken-down version of The Bridge, which is used in the Impostors Game Modes
- Some of the props seen in the Game Modes is still present during the event, such as Mecha Cuddle Master's helmet and the Infinity Blade. However Captain America's Proto-Adamantium Shield wasn't there, likely due to copyright.
- The area where The Scientist and the Loopers travel through prior to The Bridge is one of the same armories seen in the Batman Fortnite: Zero Point comic series, specifically Issue 5.
- If the player were to noclip camera around The Bridge, they could find the following details normally not noticeable in game:
- Outside of the giant window in Battle Bus Repairs, behind the two Caretakers is a massive Monster Spawner that is almost impossible to see in normal gameplay. The spawner is where the Caretakers spawn from.
- When The Scientist and the players pass by it to the Supply Drop Factory, they could get a better view of Agent Jones and The Foundation facing off IO Guards. With all of them infinitely shooting whilst Jones is infinitely reloading. One of the IO Guards eventually gets knocked.
- The gun held by Agent Jones is a Vindertech Burster Pistol, most likely as a stand in for The Foundation's Rift Pistol.
- The Foundation seems to be holding a crude looking Rail Gun. If examined closer it would appear to be a Scopeless Chapter 1 Bolt Action Sniper Rifle with added components to make it look like a Rail Gun. It is the stand in for The Foundation's Rift Rail Gun seen in his Featured Image.
- The IO Guards The Scientist and The Foundation eliminate at the rotated Bridge have Sledge's colors for some reason. Because of the lighting in the room and the guards generally being far from the players to notice its pretty difficult to spot in game without changing the lighting.
- The last scene of the event was accidentally leaked by Fortnite Poland through a TikTok ad. And that was the reason why Chapter 3: Season 1 released earlier than intended.
- The End of Chapter 2 is the pre-opening of Chapter 3.
