The In-Between[1] (also known as The Nexus) is a realm inside of The Zero Point[2] believed to connects all realities in Fortnite: Battle Royale in a giant nexus hub.
It was first introduced during Season 6 in the The Butterfly Event.
About[]
The In-Between appears as a dimension with no gravity, a light grey exterior with floating white orbs scattered around. White lines that appear in an almost circuit like pattern all converge at the center around the Zero Point. Here, the Zero Point does not have it's exterior shell and only exist as a core of pure energy. A bright white beacon shines upward from the Zero Point.
History[]
The Butterfly Event[]
After The Cube explodes above Loot Lake, a blinding white light blinded the Loopers who witnessed the scene, before transporting them to this world. For a short period of time, they were allowed to float around and check out the new dimension. Proceeding this, a giant rift started to form. It took the shape of a giant Butterfly, and started to shrink while moving over toward The Looper. The Looper stuck out their finger, and the Rift Butterfly landed on it, before opening a Rift sending them and all the other Loopers back to the Island.
The Devourer of Worlds[]
Galactus reached for the Zero Point beneath The Ruins and began extracting it from deep under the island. As the Zero Point fought back, reality destabilized, pulling almost everything into it. But thanks to Tony Stark's intervention, they avoided a full Reality collapse and The Looper and the heroes were sent into The In-Between, with The Looper finding themselves inside one of the many upgraded Battle Buses, facing Galactus.
Iron Man explained that these Battle Buses were equipped with Gamma Bombs, designed to overload Galactus with energy. Helped by Iron Man, Thor and Wolverine, The Looper fought through Gorgers and Gatherers, driving closer along Galactus's arm. Eventually, Galactus consumed the overloaded Battle Buses, unleashing Gamma energy, and was pulled away from the In-Between through a Rift, ending the crisis.
The Butterfly Event (OG)[]
In an alternate reality, the same events happen. This time, however, Revin the Cube is somehow not only present in The In-Between despite the purple one exploding, but it is also corrupting the place, having turned a few of The In-Between's usually white forward circuits into backward red circuits. The rest of the event plays out as normal.
