The Pantheon (also referred as Zeus' Pantheon) is an organization in Fortnite: Battle Royale that was first introduced in Chapter 5: Season 2. It includes the majority immortals (gods, daimons and other immortals) inspired by Greek Mythology, all ruled by Zeus. However, the faction was split into two, one following Zeus wishing to annihilate mortals, the other following The Looper to protect them.
It is a major organization in Fortnite: Battle Royale, with Zeus' faction serving as the main antagonists of Chapter 5: Season 2 and The Looper's faction serving as the main protagonists of Chapter 5: Season 2.
Overview[]
The Pantheon's governance is a group composed of the gods of the Greek Pantheon and other immortals, all ruled by Zeus. Contrary to Greek mythology, all gods and some daimons are considered Olympians, even Hades and Cerberus, the latter even being considered as a full fledged god.[1] After the mortals opened Pandora's Box, The Gods of the Pantheon descended onto Helios to fix that by closing the box and punishing The Society, whose member families are part of the Pantheon's lineage.
Then Zeus decided to kill all of the mortals for their "hubris" although actually it was because of a prophecy of his downfall by the hand of a mortal, foretold by Apollo and The Oracles, causing conflict among the Pantheon. This event divided the Pantheon into two factions, the faction led by Zeus, wishing to annihilate mortalkind, and the faction led by mortalkind's hero: The Looper wishing to protect mortals.
It's said that The Pantheon was already known for its infighting, although Persephone says she does not understand why, while listing cases where gods and other immortals hate each other such as Hades with Demeter, Poseidon with Medusa, and Zeus with practically everyone. However, Persephone specifies that when commanded or forced, they all get along, explaining how Zeus managed to rule them.
After winning the battle against Zeus, The Looper nevertheless spared his life and technically became the new ruler of the Pantheon. But, uninterested in the throne, they simply freed the Pantheon and Mortals from Zeus's tyrannical rule, and let them follow their own path causing the Pantheon to split across Reality, to seek new domains.
Glossary[]
- Gods: Divines being with extraordinary powers and immortality, often governing aspects of nature, life, or human experience. However the immortality of Olympians is not absolute and can be lost.[2]
- Daimons / Daemones: Immortal supernatural beings that occupy a middle ground between gods and mortals. They are often considered spirits or divine entities that influence human affairs, acting as intermediaries between the Gods and humans. In Fortnite they are more or less full fledged Gods like Cerberus but some like Hope are considered "mortals".
- Immortals: In the case of the Pantheon, this refers to beings that do not age and cannot be killed. This applies to Gods, Daimons, and certain mortals who have become immortal, but without reaching godhood. Immortality isn't absolute however and can be destroyed as it happened to Zeus. Some Daimons like Hope don't have immortality, although it is suggested (but not confirmed) that Hope had previous lives and therefore can be reincarnated, as she is tied to Pandora's Box "By fate. By the cycles of time and destiny eternal".[3][4][5]
- Demigods: Part-human and part-divine offspring of a deity and a human. They are however still mortals. Demigods include Perseus.
- Heroes: The heroes are a loosely defined class of often venerated mortals. The most familiar Greek heroes are from the lineage of The Pantheon and some are even demigods like Perseus and/or were granted godhood. However not all of them are from The Pantheon's lineage, like The Looper whose origins are unknown.

Midas falls from grace at some unclear[19] point in time after going offline and leaving his crew to Brutus during Chapter 2: Season 7 at the end of Cosmic Summer. He is sent into The Underworld, where he is imprisoned by Hades in a special cell underneath his Throne Room.
Chapter 5: Season 1[]
During the end of the war between The Society and The Underground, Pandora's Box and the Titan's Hand were forcefully summoned by Valeria. She broke the chains of the box, and unleashed the evil spirits all over the Island. The Mosaic was unveiled by the combined forces of The Looper and Odyssey, however they didn't managed to understand its warning in time. Unknowingly to everyone, the opening of Pandora's Box alerted the gods of the Pantheon.
Chapter 5: Season 2[]
The gods arrived on the Island. Enraged, they closed Pandora's Box and punished The Society for their actions, the Society Bosses barely surviving their encounter with Zeus. Around this time, the Titan's hand fell to the ground, becoming dormant once more. After relocating Mount Olympus and The Underworld to Helios Island, Zeus announced his plan to put an end to mankind, with most people believing it was because he had had enough of mortalkind's hubris and that The Society had pushed him over the edge. This caused great concern among some of the other gods and beings, including Aphrodite, Artemis, Poseidon, Apollo, Medusa, and Perseus.
The Oracle read The Looper's fate and revealed to them that they must prove to Zeus and the Guardians of Olympus that mortals are worthy of life before the "skies turn black". After completing The Oracle's trials, The Looper was declared the chosen Hero of Mortalkind and challenged The Pantheon. They were first tasked with proving their skill in battle by defeating opponents, as well as challenging Hades by making the deceased spirits of his adversaries speak of them to the Ruler of the Underworld.
Contacting The Looper, Hades ordered them to prove they could defeat Zeus by winning a fight against Cerberus, even allowing them to use powerful weapons, believing them to be unsuitable. Arriving in The Underworld, The Looper challenged Cerberus and, against all odds, won the duel, asserting complete dominance over the Gatekeeper of the Underworld. This surprised Hades, who decided to inform Zeus. Hearing of the events, Ares, God of War, decided to challenge The Looper as well. Thinking there would be no honor in slaughtering The Looper where they stood, Ares challenged them to come to Brawler's Battleground with a Warforged Assault Rifle, although he believed The Looper wouldn't accept.
Arriving at Brawler's Battleground, The Looper confronted Ares, enraging him, who told them they should not have come and that they would never defeat him. After facing and defeating the God of War of The Pantheon, taking his Aspect of Combat in the process, The Looper declared war on the gods. Ares reported his defeat to Zeus, while The Oracle revealed that Zeus' closest allies had witnessed The Looper fight. She then revealed more about their fate, speaking of "Darkened skies", "Choking dust", and "Hope lost, and found again", before advising them to forge their alliance with the Immortals.
Later, Greek King Midas escaped Hades' confinement — a rare event for shades[20], triggering the wrath of Hades. The Looper helped him and his crew before returning to their mission. After Midas left the Island along with his crew, The Looper was contacted by Aphrodite, who decided to support them despite thinking they would lose. In the meantime, The Looper discovered an Olympian Edict mentioning that Aphrodite had joined them on their quest, but that Zeus was furious and spoke of destroying The Looper — a curious point according to The Oracle, who said Zeus usually just destroys without speaking. While still trying to prove their worth to Aphrodite, The Looper obtained a second Olympian Edict from Poseidon, further emphasizing the fact that Zeus was truly enraged — and yet The Looper was still alive. The Oracle then announced a new prophecy, saying that Zeus called for vengeance, but Aphrodite would raise her shield. It also contained a clue to the final Edict.
Afterward, Poseidon tried to help The Looper cheer up Aphrodite, unofficially joining their cause. However, their attempts didn't really work. In the meantime, understanding the hidden clue, The Looper went to see Peely, who had indeed received the lost Edict. In it, they learned that Zeus was also recruiting allies, just like The Looper, and planned to recruit Artemis. Seeing Peely's sad condition, without home or food, The Looper helped him and gained Aphrodite's respect, who officially decided to side with them. Knowing that Zeus wanted to recruit Artemis, she advised The Looper on how to gain her attention and secure an audience — they would need to prove their excellence in stealth and hunting.
Successfully gaining her attention, The Looper encountered Artemis and recruited her, thus obtaining the support of three Olympians. Later, The Looper was contacted by Cerberus, who revealed that Zeus had asked him to gather information about their actions. However, he decided to ignore the order if they helped him find a "powerful artifact" entrusted to him by Hades but lost. After investigating and searching everywhere, The Looper was contacted by Hades, who admitted it was considerate of them to help Cerberus, before revealing that he had hidden the artifact for safekeeping during Zeus' tempest. However, noticing it had made Cerberus too agitated, he had placed the scent of the artifact on The Looper, so Cerberus could track it.
However, The Looper had to fight Cerberus again to make the two other heads submit to their command. Once victorious, they had Cerberus smell the artifact and finally managed to recover it, with Cerberus swearing not to reveal anything to Zeus. Returning to The Oracle, she told them to recruit one of Zeus' enemies: Medusa. The spirits of the Underworld grew restless, seemingly due to a combination of Pandora's Box, Charon's retirement, and Hades' lack of rulership due to his focus on battle.[21]
While initially afraid of the gods and unsure what to do, Zeus's tyranny and his wrath against mortals led Hope, a mortal who intrigued some gods, to restore The Underground to confront Zeus and stop his abuse of power — as well as that of others. In the meantime, Medusa called upon The Looper, wanting to reclaim her property that Zeus had stolen long ago. During their search, they found an hourglass created by Hephaestus. The Oracle informed The Looper that the Olympians' immortality wasn't absolute and that the Stormforged Hourglass was Zeus's source of power — and could be destroyed.
After destroying all the cracked Hourglasses, Medusa explained that they had been crafted with Zeus's own godly essence to increase his power and that, by destroying them, it weakened both the god and the Stormforged Hourglass. Using Zeus's essence contained in the hourglasses, she crafted a charm and gave it to The Looper to empower them. The Looper, alongside their immortal allies — Aphrodite, Artemis, Poseidon, Artemis, as well as newly joined immortals Apollo, Perseus, and Medusa — and the reformed Underground, raided Mount Olympus. The Looper destroyed the Stormforged Hourglass, eliminating Zeus's immortality, and fought the god with his own power in a death match while their respective allies clashed. After a fierce battle, The Looper defeated Zeus but spared his life. Their efforts ended Zeus's reign, paving the way for a new Olympus of freedom, symbolized by The Underground's emblem, which Hope had tagged on Zeus's former throne.
With Zeus dethroned and humanity saved, The Oracle warned The Looper once more of their fate — with darkened skies and choking dust — with war and The Wanderer approaching. She stated that hope would lead The Looper through the darkness, revealing that, in truth, Zeus had nothing to do with that prophecy and that they must be prepared.[22] However, not finishing off Zeus proved to be a mistake. Despite being a mortal who should have feared the former King of the Gods, Triage Trooper came to aid Zeus with his injuries. Later, in his madness, Zeus used his remaining powers to plot his revenge. The statue atop Mount Olympus slowly became active and eventually raised its sword to strike the top of Pandora's Box with lightning for the first time, causing earthquakes and overloading the box with energy as it continued to spark.
The process repeated a second time, but this time with white-tinted lightning. Then, Zeus charged the statue with his rage and power, and the lightning turned red. The third and final lightning strike hit Pandora's Box once more, causing it to overload completely and release a blast of energy into the ocean. The box itself then sank beneath the waves. The unleashed energy triggered a massive explosion, unleashing a sandstorm tinged with an ominous red hue that darkened the skies over the Island. This fulfilled the Oracle's prophecy, and danger now looms over everyone as Olympus and the Island brace for the impending disaster.
Chapter 5: Season 3[]
After the humiliation of Zeus, most of the gods fled to find new domains and now follow their own path. Artemis, starting to love the loud nature of mortals and the Sandstorm's chaos that approached them, decides to stay on the Island. She informs Hope of the god's departure so that it is not unexpected.[23] Additonally, Hades asked Cerberus to stay at Grim Gate to wait for the Queen.[24] Once her vacation was over, and the spring season had been overseen, Persephone returned to The Underworld to rule once more, seemingly cheering Hope on in her path of saving the Island.[25] Once all four of the gems that Hope had been searching for had been assembled, The Oracle returned to the Island to guide Hope through what comes next after her destiny set by The Fates had been altered by The Wanderer's presence.
Chapter 5: Season 4[]
With Megalo Don's plans having failed, the remaining members of the pantheon abandon the Island in search of a new domain to reign over, all except Artemis. With Zeus humbled, but Doom threatening the denizens of this Island, she couldn't leave them to suffer. She cheers Hope on her journey with The Oracle as she explains to The Looper how the families of The Society are descendants of the members of the pantheon.
Hades' Underworld had began to crumble at the abandonment of its gods. It was overtaken by Mephisto's new reign after the defeat of Doom by Hope. Ares' Battleground, The Amphitheater and Mount Olympus were affected by Stark's damaged rift beacons, of which summoned Ultima Carver, the bringer of all the pumpkins to our reality, and he chose Brawler's Battleground as his base domain.
One of Restored Reels' new films was inspired by Hades, dubbed "Houndz of Hades".
Chapter 6: Season 3[]
Aphrodite, determined as ever in her duty of finding the heart in herself and others, arrives in Reality: 783 to relax at its beaches, protecting herself from the sun and heartbreak as she does.
Differences with Greek mythology[]
- Although based on Mythology, and these Myths do indeed exist in the lore of the game. Medusa, Perseus and Midas states that myths are mostly inaccurate or completely wrong.
- Unlike Greek mythology, the twelve Olympians don't exist. Instead, they are replaced by the "guardians of Olympus".
- Several characters who aren't part of The Pantheon ended to play the role of a God, Demigod or important figure from Greek Mythology.
- The Looper, a mortal seemingly unrelated to the gods, played the role of the unborn son of Zeus and Metis (or Thetis), fated to dethrone Zeus.
- Hope, while first stated to be a simple mortal, was later confirmed the daimon of Hope (Elpis) and from the linage of The Pantheon. She is the same Hope that was meant to remain deep inside Pandora's Box.
- Valeria played the role of Pandora, by opening Pandora's Box, dooming the Island. She is also from the linage of The Pantheon.
- While the evils of Pandora's Box really existed, metaphorically, it was the Wasteland Warriors and The Wanderer who played their roles.
- The Wanderer alias Doom from Reality: 616 also plays the role of Moros, the daimon of Doom, the fated death of men, by becoming Hope's nemesis. It happened because he stole the power of Pandora's box, sealing his fate with Hope's and dooming the Island.
- Pandora's Box is endowed with a will of its own, and all gods including Zeus want to keep it closed.
Trivia[]
- While most of the gods left the Island, some being banished and other just to find new horizons after the fall of Zeus, Pandora's Box remains as a threat under the reign of Doom.
- The Gods are still out there in Helios Reality, searching for new Domains.
- Despite being gods and therefore immortals, Etheria mentions that like any powerful being, they can be breakable with the right tools.
- She also mentions the existence of greater powers than gods.
- Certain gods of The Pantheon possess a resemblance to existing characters, without being the same person as them.
- This is the case of Poseidon with Rippley, Harpy Haze with Haze as well as Charon with Oro.
- The Greek Titan Atlas has a statue at Mount Olympus, depicting him in the form of Meowscles.
