The Rocket Launch, also known as Blast Off, was a Live Event in OG Chapter 1: Season 4. It caused the appearance of the Crack.
Event Summary[]
The Launch happened on July 26th 2025 at 11:00 AM PST and concluded after a couple of minutes.
Before the rocket launched, a red butterfly appeared and circled around the Looper before going into the rocket and sabotaging it.
The Rocket then launched into the sky at a slow rate, until the first booster broke off, falling onto some crops in Anarchy Acres. The Rocket then started to jet into the sky, until it became a distant glowing blue light.
As the Rocket headed back down to the Island, 4 red beams shout out the top of the rocket, merging into one giant beam that pointed straight at Tilted Towers.'Zero Point Oscillator on, Setting coordinates. Engaging quantum field accelerator.'
Right before it hit, a rift took the Rocket away. A few seconds later, another rift opened above Moisty Mire. The rocket then continued to rocket forwards as it passed over Lonely Lodge and Wailing Woods, then swerving over Risky Reels, Loot Lake and past Tilted Towers, before it tore another Rift, this time outside Greasy Grove.
A larger rift then formed over Loot Lake, shooting the Rocket out with great acceleration. The rocket hit the sky, opening a massive red Sideways Rift compared to the usual blue rift.
Aftermath[]
Following the rocket launch, faint red rifts began to materialize on various objects on the Athena island, where they proceeded to be rifted to different realities:
- The rotating Tomato Head in Tomato Town was rifted to Reality: 783, on Oninoshima.
- The Durrr Burger head in Greasy Grove was rifted to Blitz Royale's Island.
- The Motel sign from the Motel was rifted to Venture.

Trivia[]
- This is the first Fortnite OG event to have 2 differences from its Chapter 1 counterpart.
- The OG event uses the same audio file that was used in Chapter 1.
- This may be because The Visitor was voiced by Donald Mustard, who retired in 2023.
Differences from Chapter 1[]
- The Crack is now red instead of blue.
- The rocket lights are now blue instead of red.
- The screen did not shake when the rocket entered a rift.
- A red butterfly appeared at the beginning, then flew straight into the rocket through a rift to sabotage the event.

| The following page details a one-time event that is no longer playable. |
The Rocket Launch, also known as Blast Off, was a Live Event in Season 4. It caused the appearance of the Crack. This was the first In-Game event in the history of Battle Royale.
Lead-up[]
The "Blast Off" event was foreshadowed for a while before it happened:
- The Visitor Loading Screen during Week 7 of Season 4 showed a new character, known as The Visitor.
- In the Retrofit Loading Screen, The Visitor was seen programming a Rocket, located at the Villain Lair outside of Snobby Shores.
- The Rocket was filled with Hop Rocks which were being gathered from The Meteor and meteorite's craters and being moved to the Villain Lair by trucks.
Event Summary[]
The Launch happened on June 30th 2018 at 10:30 AM PST and concluded after a couple of minutes.
The Rocket Launched into the sky at a slow rate, until the first booster broke off, falling onto some crops in Anarchy Acres.

A larger rift then formed over Loot Lake, shooting the Rocket out with great acceleration. The rocket hit the sky, opening a massive Sideways Rift that would later be known as the Crack in the Sky. It stayed there until mid-Season 5, and finally closed with the creation of the first Cube.
Aftermath[]
The Blast Off event led to a multitude of events until Season 6. Things from the Fortnite world started to disappear and appear.
Most famously, the Durrr Burger disappeared live and surprisingly appeared in the real world, in a remote part of the California desert, only to be tagged with graffiti by Drift. It then reappeared in Fortnite outside of Pleasant Park at the start of Season 5.
On August 24th 2018, The Crack finally closed and spawned The Cube on top of a hill near Paradise Palms. This led up to Season 6, as the Cube travelled across the island, leaving runes in the ground, until entering Loot Lake.
Season X[]
In the final season of Chapter 1, another Rocket was made for “The End” event. This caused everything to be sucked into a Black Hole, due to The Meteor crashing into the Zero Point.
The Rocket has been the basis for the first and last live events of Chapter 1.
Chapter 3[]
The Rocket, or at least it's model, would be reused several more times during Chapter 3: Season 1 as recon rockets for The Seven sent into space for various tasks.
