The Train is an ever-moving Unnamed Location and Mid-match objective in Fortnite: Battle Royale. It was introduced to the island Helios in Chapter 5: Season 1 and later removed in Chapter 2 Remix. It was eventually reintroduced to the Island Oninoshima in Chapter 6: Season 1.
Overview[]
The Train is an uncontrollable vehicle that moves around a designated track on the map. It normally travels at a higher speed than a player that is sprinting, but will slow down at train stations. Allowing players to catch up to it by running and climb aboard.
In Chapter 6: Season 2 you need to use termites to open a train safe. In the safe you can find: two rare chests, three chests, two Big Dill display cases and a lot of gold.
The Train can be used as both a quick ride and a source of loot. There are 2 small
Chests on the inside of each interior door frame, making four chests total. There is also a
Train Heist Chest near the front of the Train that can be hacked. This begins a countdown that any player within 25 meters (roughly the length of the Train itself) can see. When the countdown finishes, [[Rarity|Rare]] loot will spawn from the cache, usually containing various Consumables among some weapons. ( Chapter 5 Season 4)
Functionality[]
The Train Heist Chest can be accessed any number of times during a match, and a glow will appear around the chest while it is available to access. It is guaranteed to drop the
Enhanced A280-CFE Blaster Rifle the first time it is opened. There are 2 small
Chests on the inside of each interior door frame, making four chests total. The train takes on a sleek look, and the open cars cannot be accessed through a door, forcing players to have to mantle between. The Train took X minutes to make a complete cycle in Chapter 6.
With
Alpha having seized control of FNTransport, the Train has become an Armored Train protected by two
Sentry Turrets. The Train Heist Chest and small Chests are no longer found on the Train, but in turn the carts where they used to be have been closed off. When under attack, the Armored Train will not slow down at any of the Train Stations.
Destroying a Sentry Turret will leave behind Thermite that can be used to breach the Train's vault cart, which houses two Dill Bit cases along with Rare Chests, one of which will drop an
Enhanced Sentinel Pump Shotgun and Bars. Both Sentry Turrets need to be destroyed before breaching the vault cart, and doing so will force the Train to stop and alert Alpha Guards to Void Warp in and attack the player. On some occasions, even Fletcher Kane may Void Warp into the heist if a Wolf Icon is near the Train's Icon.
The Train Heist Chest can be accessed any number of times during a match, and a glow will appear around the chest while it is available to access. It is guaranteed to drop the
Enhanced Holo Twister Assault Rifle the first time it is opened. There are 2 small
Chests on the inside of each interior door frame, making four chests total. The train takes on a sleek look, and the open cars cannot be accessed through a door, forcing players to have to mantle between. The Train took X minutes to make a complete cycle in Chapter 6.
Chapter 5[]
Underground graffiti will appear on the inside of the Train while the Heist Chest is inaccessible. Every two train stations the Train passes triggers the Train Heist Chest to refresh, clearing the graffiti and allowing the Heist Chest to be hacked again. This makes the Heist Chest a renewable source of rare loot that may be accessed any number of times during a match. The train takes inspiration from a more traditional passenger train, and each open car can be accessed through an open frame between the two. The Train took 9 minutes to make a complete cycle in Chapter 5.

Trivia[]
- Other trains can be found in Underground HQ, but are stuck in piles of rubble.
- The Anvil Rocket Launcher is able to lock onto and target the Train and its individual cars. However it will not suffer any damage from the fired rocket, as it is not able to take damage.
- The Train cannot be stopped by any entity on the track, including other vehicles parked on the tracks. The Train will simply throw them aside.
- If a player is hit by the front of the main Train car, they will not take damage, but instead be thrown straight into the air, likely landing on the front of the Train.
- The Train was very likely intended to still be accessible during Chapter 5: Season 3, as its Icon during Chapter 5: Season 4 featured it with the Wasteland Warriors design despite it being under the ownership of the Kingdom of Doom.
