Update v19.20 was released on February 1st, 2022.

Introduction[]

Fortnite Battle Royale v19.20 introduces a new POI, unvaults a classic weapon (with new twists), reveals Haven’s mask line-up, and more. See below for the details of this update!

Sneak Inside Covert Cavern And Seek The Mythic Stinger![]

Deep inside the mountains north of Camp Cuddle, a high-tech new POI has appeared: Covert Cavern. Navigate its central waterway and harvest materials from its many facilities.

Rumor has it that Covert Cavern is home to a Mythic version of the Stinger SMG, possessing more power than a regular one (and more recoil to match). However, getting your hands on it is no easy feat…

Heavy Shotgun Returns With Heavy Updates[]

The Heavy Shotgun has been unvaulted in a refashioned form for Chapter 3. It’s now single slug, longer-range, and requires more accuracy. Exceptionally reliable and consistent, break out the Heavy for closing the gap or responding to an incoming threat!

Find the Heavy Shotgun on the ground, in normal and Rare Chests, and from Supply Drops. The new Heavy Shotgun is available in all rarities.

Note: The new Heavy Shotgun is unable to penetrate through multiple targets, which the classic Heavy could do. This is a bug that will be fixed in a future game update.

Haven Un-Unmasked![]

With v19.20, begin unlocking all the masks of Chapter 3 Season 1 Battle Pass Outfit Haven!

How do you unlock Haven’s masks? Collect Feathers in Chests around the Island, then spend your Feathers in the “Haven’s Masks” section of the Battle Pass tab. Each mask has a special Quest for you to complete to make the mask available to redeem. For example, catch fish to unlock cat masks, forage to unlock deer masks, glide to unlock owl masks, and more!

Each mask’s Quest can be found in the “Haven’s Masks” Battle Pass section, and every mask is unlockable all the way ‘til the end of Chapter 3 Season 1. (Please note that players must own the Haven Outfit before starting the Quests.)

Update On XP In Creative[]

We’re improving the XP Beyond Battle Royale experience! Usually, Creative Islands undergo “calibration” before they begin granting Battle Pass XP from your in-game Accolades (sometimes taking several days). Now with v19.20, if you triggered an Accolade before calibration was complete, you’ll be rewarded with the XP once it’s available!

Forecast Update[]

Tornado and lightning weather events have been added to Team Rumble!

Competitive Notes[]

  • The Mythic Stinger SMG is not included in competitive playlists. The Heavy Shotgun is included immediately, however.
    • While most new/unvaulted items are given an evaluation period in the wild before being added to competitive playlists, we’ve made an exception with the Heavy Shotgun, as the new Heavy Shotgun was made with higher-skill play in-mind.
  • As our heads-up stated last week, Spider-Man’s Web-Shooters now have 20 shots instead of 80 in competitive playlists. This lower count is to encourage more strategic decisions about when to use the item, while retaining the item’s usefulness as a powerful mobility tool.

Major Bug Fixes[]

  • Fixed an issue involving the visual indicator for using a Reboot Van appearing at a greater distance than the sound could be heard.
  • Fixed an issue involving matches sometimes not being recorded during a tournament session and the points earned in those matches becoming lost.
  • Fixed an issue involving Spider-Man’s Web-Shooters dropping from eliminated players with a full stock of uses even if it didn’t have a full stock before the player was eliminated.

The v19.20 update is warming up as we continue into the new year. XP earned during the calibration has been updated to allow players to earn XP even while an island is being calibrated! While players are battling it out for XP, creators can now really turn things up another level by enabling fire 🔥 in their islands.

Creators, remember the Fortnite Creative Documentation Site is updated every patch with additional details, use cases, and thought starters for newly released and updated devices.

ACCOLADE XP CALIBRATION[]

Get ready to share the big news with your players, Creators. We’re improving the XP Beyond Battle Royale experience! As you know, Creative Experiences undergo “calibration” before they begin granting Battle Pass XP from your in-game Accolades. Now with v19.20, if a player has triggered an Accolade before calibration was complete, they’ll be rewarded with XP once the Experience is calibrated!

Additionally, Creators will be notified through email on the calibration status of their Experience.

REQUIREMENTS

Players who previously participated in Creative Experiences while they were undergoing calibration within the last 30 days may be rewarded XP retroactively when these Experiences pass calibration.

CLAIMING REWARDS

Players can claim their XP reward when they log into Fortnite.

NEW: NATURAL FORCES - FIRE[]

Fire is a force to be reckoned with and Creators now have the ability to enable fire effects in their experiences! We’re also bringing some new fire weapons from BR into Creative for the first time. We’ll be adding additional ways to control fire in future updates.

New Fire items:

  • Primal Flame Bow
  • Flare Gun
  • Fireflies
  • Gas Can

NEW: GAS FOR VEHICLES

Speed around the race track to beat that time trial but don't forget to fuel up! Creators who really want to spice up vehicles in their maps can now include Gas Cans and have them fuel the vehicles in their islands. We’ve also added a configurable Fuel Pump device to let your players gas up and get going.

NEW: SKYDIVE VOLUME[]

You may have felt the effects of the Skydive volume if you’ve taken part in some of our previous music experiences, but now this device is available to everyone to send players flying! Create air elevators, wind tunnels and more as you experiment with all the cool features of this new device.

For more details, we’ve added the Volume to the Fortnite Creative Document site.

UPDATE: SENTRY DEVICE[]

The Sentry is the latest device to be changed from a Trap device to a prop. But that’s not all, we’ve added a whole bunch of features to the new version including adding Sentries to teams, a whole new Idle > Alert > Hostile system and a bunch of new transmitters and receivers to give Sentries a whole new lease on life. Enjoy!

For more details, we’ve added the Sentry Device to the Fortnite Creative Document site

UPDATE: OBJECTIVE DEVICES[]

Objective devices have been updated with the Icon Library options. A new option Custom Objective Text is also added to allow creators to customize the objective name text on HUD.

IN TESTING: AI SPAWN LIMIT[]

We’ve raised the maximum number of Fiends and Animals that can be spawned at once from 20 to 30 (of each type). We’ll be monitoring performance impact and may increase or decrease that limit depending on the results.
