Update v19.30 of Fortnite was released on February 15th 2022.
Introduction[]
Fortnite Battle Royale v19.30 introduces new and improved gyro controls! Also, the initial mode selection screen (which appeared on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC) has been removed, meaning you’ll now load directly into the Lobby.
Read below for v19.30 details.
Gyro and Flick Stick- More Controller Options![]
Made in collaboration with input specialist and flick stick creator Julian “Jibb” Smart, we’ve added optional gyro controls to Fortnite on gyro-supported platforms. And flick stick too!
Fortnite on Nintendo Switch and Android had gyro-based motion controls before the release of v19.30, but this update brings more robust gyro controls to Fortnite on these two platforms plus PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and PC.
With gyro controls, you control the camera by turning the controller. Enable or disable gyro controls in Fortnite by going to the “Touch and Motion” tab of the settings. Gyro controls can offer more precision than standard stick aiming – but don’t have to replace it entirely. (With flick stick, for example, pointing the right stick moves the camera quickly in its direction.) For more info on gyro, watch Jibb’s video below and read our Gyro and Flick Stick blog post!
Game Mode Select Screen Removed[]
With v19.30, we’ve removed the initial game screen (which appeared on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC) where players would select either Save the World, Battle Royale, or Creative. You’ll now boot up directly into the Lobby, ready to join the party and explore Fortnite!
What does this mean for Save the World and Creative? You can now find both modes via the “Discover” screen, accessible by clicking on the “CHANGE” button above “PLAY!” See our Loading into the Lobby blog post for more information.
The “CHANGE” button in the Lobby.
Competitive Notes[]
- Removed Armored Walls from Supply Drop loot in competitive playlists.
Major Bug Fixes[]
- Fixed an issue involving some players only having two Tent slots available, as opposed to the intended three.
- Fixed an issue on mobile involving build pieces not being placed after players double-tapped the associated icon.
- Fixed an issue — occurring in competitive playlists only — involving Spider-Man’s Web-Shooters dropping from eliminated players with the full 20 uses even if they didn’t have the full 20 before the player was eliminated.
Notes[]
- All NBA Outfits were given updated styles.
Introduction[]
The v19.30 update brings the new Fire Volume device, an update to turn any prop into a resource node, along with the HUD controller and new teleport linking options!
Creators, remember the Fortnite Creative Documentation Site is updated every patch with additional details, use cases, and thought starters for newly released and updated devices.
Game Mode Select Screen Removed[]
With this week’s v19.30 update, we’ve removed the initial game screen (which appeared on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC) where players would select either Save the World, Battle Royale, or Creative. You’ll now boot up directly into the Lobby, ready to join the party and explore Fortnite!
What does this mean for Creative? You can now find Creative via the “Discover” screen, accessible by clicking on the “CHANGE” button above “PLAY!” Read the Load into the Lobby in Fortnite - Game Mode Select Screen Removed blog.
Update: HUD Controller[]
The HUD controller now has Team and Class support, allowing you to create different HUD setups for each individual Team and Class, ideal for asymmetric game modes or contextual HUD layouts. Want to hide the HUD just for players in a specific area? Now you can set everyone in the area to a specific Class and then change the HUD just for them, leaving everyone else in the game unaffected.
Update: Teleport Linking[]
Teleporters can now be linked together allowing for two-way travel. This can be used along with randomized teleport targets to create a ‘different every time’ map layout which is random when a player first goes through the teleporter but then remains constant for the rest of the game (or until the link is broken via Channels).
Other Feature Updates[]
- Class support has been added to the Beacon device.
- Added Old Cartoon filter to the My Island Camera Filter settings.
Prefab & Gallery Updates[]
- Fixed some collision issues with assets in the Elemental Cube Gallery.
- Fixed an issue with football goals spawning when destroying the sports fields from the Sports Gallery.
- Fixed an issue with the ivy, from Princess Castle Tower prefab, giving the wrong resource materials.
- Fixed an issue with planter props, from The Sanctuary set, with giving no resource materials.
Consumable Updates[]
- Added some New Consumables to coincide with the New Resources Gallery
- Rainbow Crystal
- Honey
- Vindertech Mechanical Parts
- Blue Mushroom
- Pink Mushroom
- Red Mushroom
- White Mushroom
- Yellow Mushroom
- Spectrolite Ore
- Spectral Twine
Device Fixes[]
- Tracker Device
- Previously if you attempted to add multiplayer players to the tracker simultaneously, only one would get added. This has been fixed.
- Previously if the tracker goal was reduced, non-instigator players would not be checked to see if they were at the new goal. This has been fixed.
- Conditional Button
- Fixed an issue where the conditional button would not reset if its requirements were only partially completed.
- Barrier Device
- Enabling the Barrier while standing inside will no longer push the player under the map
- Prop Manipulator
- Pre Game Only is no longer an available option
- Resource Depletion transmit on will now transmit correctly
- Skydive Volume
- Fixed an issue where sometimes the Skydive Volume 'Lock Affected Players in Volume' set to 'Yes' would not apply correctly if the launch velocity was too high
Island Fixes[]
- Fire will now spread correctly on the grass of the Tropical Island
General[]
- In some cases creative islands could fail to load after entering island rift in Creative HUB
- Players wearing the bush disguise will take explosive damage
- Fixed an issue where Item Granter and Switch Persistence options do not activate "Clear All Player's Data" option when publishing
UI Updates[]
- Updated some of the icons for Devices:
- Customizable Lighting
- DBNO Device
- Elimination Manager
- HUD Controller
- Race Manager
- Race Checkpoint
- Save Point
UI Fixes[]
- Fixed an issue where the Galleries tab was appearing ahead of the Prefabs tab.
Introduction[]
Greetings Commanders,
As some of you may have already noticed, the Save the World playlist has made its new home in the Discover menu!
To find the newly relocated Save the World playlist, select the 'Change' button in the Fortnite main lobby and navigate to the 'By Epic' row or your Recently Played. It can also be found in your ‘Favorites’ row if you chose to add it there.
Now that Save the World has joined the rest of Fortnite in Discover, the Game Mode Select Screen has been removed.
Along with its move to Discover, Save the World is now playable in Performance Mode! Performance mode allows Fortnite to run better than ever before and maintain a smoother frame rate, even on less powerful hardware. Read about Performance Mode to learn more. Direct X 11 is still the most reliable and recommended mode.
Save the World is now playable in performance mode!
One more thing before we formally kick off this Status Report. Many Commanders have enjoyed the original Save the World Lobby Track for years now! This track would play when no other Lobby Track was selected in your Locker. Unfortunately, that soothing tune seems to have disappeared recently...Well Commanders we have an update on that! To restore what was lost, the original Save the World Lobby Track will be granted to each and every one of you; it will be added to your Locker as soon as you log into Save the World.
For new players, the Save the World Lobby Track will be granted right after you complete the first mission.
That was a lot to take in, and there is plenty more to go! Homebase Status Report - Initiate!
