Fortnite and Star Wars are crossing over again, but not in the same way as before! On May 3 with v29.40, galactic adventure comes to different parts of the Fortnite universe: LEGO® Fortnite, Battle Royale, Fortnite Festival, and Rocket Racing.
There’s something for every Star Wars fan in this vast crossover. Head to LEGO Fortnite to unlock Star Wars Builds and Decor, or fight off enemies with a Wookiee Bowcaster by your side in Battle Royale. Rock out in a Mos Eisley Cantina-inspired area at the Festival Jam Stage, and unlock a Podracer and Darth Maul Decal in Rocket Racing!
Rebel Against the Empire in LEGO Fortnite[]
The Empire and Rebels are coming to your LEGO Fortnite world... Side with the Rebels by building up the Rebel Village and using tools to keep the Empire at bay: Lightsabers, Bowcasters, DL-44 Blasters, E-11 Blasters, and Thermal Detonators!
Make progress in the LEGO Pass: Rebel Adventure as you help out the Rebellion. This Pass has unlockable rewards including Star Wars Builds and Decor, and the Chewbacca Outfit you’ll get just for upgrading to the Pass’ Premium Reward Track! There’s so much to see and do in LEGO Fortnite that there’s a whole ‘nother blog post fans can read 👀
Chewbacca Brings His Bowcaster to Battle Royale![]
Chewbacca Joins the Fight
Millennium Falcon co-pilot Chewbacca has been captured and it’s up to you to rescue him! To save him from the claws of the Empire, you’ll need to head to a specific Imperial Roadblock. (The one he’s at changes each match!) Chewbacca will cheer after being liberated, then follow you into battle with his trusty Bowcaster.
Who says Wookiees should have all the fun? Chewbacca will hand you your own Wookiee Bowcaster as a thanks for rescuing him! You can also find one inside Imperial Chests at Imperial Roadblocks across the Island. With this weapon equipped, shoot individual quarrels quickly or charge up a heavier, explosive shot.
Wield Darth Vader’s Lightsaber Once Again!
Don’t underestimate the power of the dark side.
Darth Vader and the Stormtroopers will be returning to the BR Island in the Lambda Shuttle, which will touch down in one of three set landing zones each match. Defeat Vader in battle and you’ll be able to pick up his lightsaber. Use Darth Vader's Lightsaber to block incoming fire and swing at enemies, and even throw it at your opponents!
With Stormtroopers come their E-11 Blasters. Grab these returning weapons from defeated Stormtroopers or from Imperial Chests at Vader’s landing sites.
A Galaxy Full of Quests
Put your Bowcaster and Blaster skills to the test to complete Battle Royale’s Star Wars Quests! You’ll receive a Battle Pass Level Up for completing five of these Quests, and the AWR Pack Back Bling for completing ten.
Battle Royale’s Star Wars Quests will be released in two phases during the crossover: the first on May 3 at 9 AM ET and the second at 9 AM ET on May 7.
The Star Wars bash in Battle Royale, including the Quests, will end May 14 at 9 AM ET!

Star Wars lands in the Fortnite universe on May 3, just in time for Star Wars Day. May the Force be with you.
Builders,
LEGO® Fortnite | Star Wars begins May 3 with the v29.40 update! In this update, the Rebellion and Galactic Empire will rift into your LEGO Fortnite world. The Empire won’t be coming in peace, but the Rebels will!
Help the Rebels survive by building up the Rebel Village and using tools like Lightsabers, DL-44 Blasters, and Thermal Detonators to deal with any foes you may encounter.
While aiding the Rebellion, make progress in the LEGO Pass: Rebel Adventure which has free and premium rewards inspired by Tatooine!
Start Your Rebel Adventure[]
The Galactic Empire is in hot pursuit of a band of Rebels, who need your help! The Empire and Rebels are unknowingly heading to a rift to your world, which will lead them to a new island in your world. This island will stick around even after v29.40!
Rebellion Buildin’
Before investigating the Empire crash site, you should check on your Rebel allies. You’ll receive a pair of Macrobinoculars after the crash, which will point you to the Rebel Village! This rinky-dink shelter on “Star Wars Island” needs your help becoming a full-on Rebel headquarters.
The Rebel Village can level up all the way to Level 10. How to level it up? Complete objectives like supplying resources and constructing Rebel buildings!
If you plan to become a local hero, don’t worry about saying goodbye to your Rebel neighbors anytime soon — the Rebel Village will remain beyond v29.40!
Crash the Crash Site
Be warned — the crash of the Empire’s Star Destroyer isn’t the Empire’s end. Instead, the Empire will try to make your world their home. They’ll be surrounding the crash site with camps, and it’s up to you to infiltrate them and take back your world! After spending some time with the Rebels, find these bases with the help of your Macrobinoculars.
Like the look of Imperial architecture? You can choose not to damage the camps, and keep them and their inhabitants beyond v29.40! The crash site will stay too so you can admire the remains of the Star Destroyer. (Or hey, you can destroy that too.)
Gear from a Galaxy Far, Far Away[]
Lightsabers
Are you civilized, or secretly on the dark side? Whatever your answer, different-colored Lightsabers are waiting for you in your world! You don’t get these in LEGO Fortnite by crafting them. Instead, you’ll unlock yours by helping the Rebels build up their Village! With your Lightsaber in-hand, you can collect even more.
Lightsabers are powerful tools in LEGO Fortnite. In fact, they’re so powerful they need time to recharge after combat. Use them when the time is right!
Bowcaster, Detonator, Blasters
Don’t just bow out when a foe is near. Defend yourself with these new Star Wars items craftable at a Rebel Workbench:
- Bowcaster: Launches a quarrel that deals damage then explodes in the area.
- Unlock the recipe for the Bowcaster by adding Durasteel to your inventory.

But wait, how do you build a Rebel Workbench? You’ll unlock the recipe by adding Plastoid to your inventory! Craft in the name of the Rebellion.
Keep your Lightsabers, Bowcasters, DL-44s, E-11s, Thermal Detonators, and Rebel Workbenches even after v29.40!

Bots Are Better!
- We’ve made a bunch of improvements to bot behavior, including improved off-road pathing, air dodging, jumping, flying, and landing.
General
- Based on player feedback after v29.30, the shortcut on Jackrabbit that we closed off is back!
- Teleport Checkpoints now continue to teleport racers even when they are marked as previously visited.
Bug Fixes
- Fixed an issue where the speedometer would fail to update while air rolling and thrusting forward without holding throttle.
- Cleaned up the barriers in Sidewinder and Anarchy Arches 2 to prevent players from clipping through the environment.
- Fixed an issue where the "Kicked for being idle for too long" message was appearing in English regardless of the player’s chosen language.
