Ride the Lightning in Battle Royale[]

Be a flash before enemies’ eyes — Ride the Lightning guitars will be on the Battle Royale Island! These instruments are as mobile as they are musical… Use one to create a lightning arc in the sky that your squadmates can ride. On your descent, come crashing down to bring the beginning of an enemy’s end. Get this guitar from the ground or Chests!

Ride the Lightning isn’t the only way to go sky-high. In the middle of every match, the floating Metallica Loot Island will rift from a hole in the sky. It’s no dream or lie — atop this island is a stage inspired by the M72 World Tour! Rock out to the holographic James, Lars, Kirk, and Robert to capture the POI and let loot loose (including Ride the Lightning).

Oh yeah, you can also earn an Emote and Loading Screen from Battle Royale’s Metallica Quests! These sequentially available Quests, plus the other marks of Metallica, will be in BR ‘til July 2, 2024, at 9 AM ET.

Ring the Bell! Compete in the Metallica Cup
Ride the lightning all the way to victory. The Squads Fill, Battle Royale Metallica Cup happens June 18 and gives players the opportunity to earn the foreboding Ringer Emote before it resounds in the Shop! Earn this Emote by being one of the top point-earning players in your region.

Competitors can play up to ten matches within their region’s three-hour time window, and the specific event timing for each region can be found in the “Compete” tab in-game.

(Note: Once a player participates in a region in any competitive event during Battle Royale Chapter 5 Season 3, they will be locked to that region for any subsequent sessions of that event, as well as all sessions for future events in the Season.)

Among other requirements, competitors must have Two-Factor Authentication enabled and verified on their Epic account and be at Account Level 15 or above. (You can find your Account Level in Fortnite’s “Career” tab.) Players with Cabined Accounts are not eligible to participate in the Metallica Cup. Go Full Speed on a New Rocket Racing Track[]

You’ve got the fuel, the fire, but it’s still not hot enough. Turn up the temperature on Rocket Racing’s new Thrash Mountain track! This volcanic track is a tribute to all things rock — and not just the geology kind. You’ve got instrumental monuments, a stretch of road like a fretboard, and Metallica’s “Fuel” playing in the background.

This is a pretty hardcore track, but that doesn’t mean it’s hard. This is a Novice track you can unlock in ranked racing at Bronze I!

Return to the fire — the Backfire Car Body is one of the rewards for Rocket Racing’s Metallica Quests. So are the Puppetmaster Backfire Decal and Chasing Light Wheels! Shred the path all the way to the finish line.

The Thrash Mountain track and sequential Metallica Quests will be in Rocket Racing ‘til August 16, 2024, at 9 AM ET. Turbo fiends, drift everywhere you can on Thrash Mountain!

Regular enemies will be stronger in Expert mode than in other modes, even if they aren’t Storm-Wild! Better get those Recurve Crossbows and Longswords ready.

Perma-limination
So you’re still not scared? That’s good…

We should warn you: losing all your hearts in a world where Expert mode is on will make you permanently eliminated from that world. Got involved in a bad situation? If you have a Totem of Return equipped when you lose all your hearts, you’ll revive in your bed with your backpack. The totem will destroy itself though — a small cost for escaping permanent elimination!

Unlock the recipe for the Totem of Return by adding a Storm Core to your inventory. Get Storm Cores from Storm-Wild enemies!

Major Improvements, Adjustments, and Bug Fixes[]

Low Memory vs. Too Many Constructs Nearby
Before v30.10, you may have seen a “high complexity” warning in your world, limiting your ability to build. v30.10 will clarify whether this is because of low memory or too many constructs nearby.

If you get a low memory or too many constructs nearby notification, here’s how you can try continuing normal play:

Low Memory: Try reducing overall constructs, the number of unique constructs, or items and creatures. Moving away from dense areas or exiting and re-entering the world can help too. (Note: the amount of memory available depends on the platform you’re playing on.)
Too Many Constructs Nearby: Try spreading out constructs over larger areas. Also try using larger Building Parts rather than many smaller ones to achieve a similar result. Building in a different location or removing constructs you no longer want can also help.

More Things

Villagers in the Rebel Village will no longer count towards the world Villager cap.
The world Villager count in the Village Hub will display the correct number of Villagers.
Skeletons will be less likely to spawn in Villages.
Lava Caves on Star Wars Island will have Rubies!
Animals will do a better job avoiding Campfires.
Wolves learned how to swim!

During this time, seek and destroy your opponents on the new Battle Stage, shred to your favorite Metallica tracks on the Jam Stage and Main Stage, and unlock in-game rewards by tearing your way through the Season 4 Festival Pass.

Battle Stage: 16 Players Enter… Only One Will Win[]

It’s time to prove yourself on the Fortnite Festival Battle Stage! Battle your opponents across a four-song setlist to be the last one standing when the curtain comes down and it all fades to black…

Each public Battle Stage match begins with up to 16 players, all competing to get the highest score on a randomly chosen song from Festival’s featured rotation. You’ll play the same track as other players but get to choose your song part and difficulty as you riff your way to the highest score. Owned Jam Tracks cannot be selected, so no one player has an advantage. The four lowest-scoring players are eliminated at the end of each song until there’s a single victor!

Battle Stage - Promo - Fortnite Festival

Don’t worry if you hear a tune you haven’t mastered yet. You can turn the tides of battle by launching attacks on your opponents to slow their scoring and break their streak! Prepare for your attack the same way you’d launch into Overdrive on the Main Stage — play Overdrive Phases to build Overdrive and press the Attack button to throw your rivals off course while boosting your own score! The more Overdrive you hold, the longer your attack will be.

Playing accurately, maintaining your streak, and attacking at the right times is key. We've set the Bass and Mic multipliers to 4x instead of 6x on the Battle Stage, so everyone’s on an even playing field! The skill rating system in public matches, based on rounds survived and players defeated, is factored into matchmaking so you don't face off against the #1 player in the world right off the bat.

If you play Battle Stage in a private match, compete against your party of up to four! We’ll leave the setlist to you — players in a private match can choose from their shared library of owned Jam Tracks and Festival’s featured rotation.

Find the Battle Stage in Discover next to “Festival Main Stage” and “Festival Jam Stage.” This experience will stick around beyond Season 4. On the Battle Stage, nothing else matters besides victory! (and having fun)

Improvements and Fixes in Season 4[]

Lobby Jammin’
Your owned Jam Tracks can be equipped as Lobby Tracks! Try adding them to your Favorites, then hit Shuffle and enjoy a different groove each time you return to the Lobby.

Gameplay Improvements
We improved Fret Forgiveness (a.k.a. “coyote time”), increasing the time allowed between when you strum a note on Pro Lead/Pro Bass and when you need to press the correct fret input. Players who felt like they did the strum and fret inputs at the same time should now get credit when they do so, even if one comes slightly before the other.

Additionally:

We updated button bind visibility to be on by default for Pro song parts.
Your Strum bind will be visible on the HUD. (Only one Strum bind is visible, even though you can have two different binds. The other one is visible in your settings.)
You’ll be able to deploy Overdrive during “song breaks,” where you have extended time between notes.

Festival Questing

Quests for the Main Stage, Jam Stage, and new Battle Stage will all share categories. Daily Quests have been updated to include all three experiences.
You’ll be able to progress Jam Quests while Backstage when building your Main Stage setlist.
Many Main Stage Quests such as “Hit Notes” and “Deploy Overdrive” will also be completable on the Battle Stage.

The Rage modifier is back! Blast through the badlands by dealing damage to fill your Rage meter, shortening ability cooldowns and increasing ability damage. But be careful, your stamina won’t refill on its own without eliminating husks! In Hit The Road, help the heroes of Homebase groove to their song of the summer in Hit The Road by escorting them across the badlands. Escort characters with unique modifiers and keep the van vibes rollin’. You'll escort two Heroes in Hit The Road — Quinn and Crackshot — each on a journey to broadcast their Songs of the Summer. Quinn's modifier "Shields Up!" will boost your shield's regeneration, while Crackshot's "Concussive Shieldbreak" modifier will knock enemies back when your shield runs out. Hitch a ride and help broadcast Quinn and Crackshot's Songs of the Summer!

In the Impostor Questline, support everyone’s favorite burger boss-turned-Hero, Dennis, journey from survivor to warrior in Imposter. With his unique Burger Buff perk, your eliminations turn into tasty burgers for Health and Energy regen. Yum!

A New Hero Sprints Onto The Scene[]

Eternal Wanderer has arrived in the Event Store, a new speedy space scout with stamina out of the stratosphere! Sprint to make foes vulnerable and finish them off with a shot, while leaving dramatic clouds for your friends to see with this new STW hero!
Support Perk: Eat My Space Dust

Sprint stamina is doubled.

Commander Perk: Eat My Space Dust +

Sprint Stamina is doubled. While sprinting, leave a cloud of space dust that deals damage per second behind you. Additionally, enemies caught in the cloud have increased damage vulnerability while they are affected.

Build Into Terrain[]

Also in the Save The World v30.10 game update, you can now build into the environment terrain! Similar to the way building functions in other experiences in Fortnite you can now build structures that would partially poke into the environment, such as at the side of a rocky slope, into the roof of a cave, and more!
