Ballistic players,

Today, we have details to share on v34.20 releasing tomorrow, March 25. This update includes weapon balance changes, economy adjustments, and a significant number of fixes. But first, we have a sneak preview of Ballistic’s first new map since launch: Hammer Fall!

Introducing Hammer Fall[]

Rising from the waters below, the spires and tight lanes of Hammer Fall bring a certain medieval flavor to the table. The castle’s verticality sets it apart from Skyline 10, and you’ll find there’s lots of comfortable cover, angles to hold, and corners to play.

Hammer Fall will be a shell map at first. As we shared in our last update, this means the map will arrive in Ballistic without environmental art. This will allow us to quickly make changes to the map layout based on your feedback. Those environmental details and finishing touches will come later, once we’ve all had a chance to get our hands on it and really test how its games flow and play out.

Get ready to get the (hammer) drop on opponents — Hammer Fall will release on April 8 with v34.30!

Balance Changes & Economy Adjustments[]

v34.20 includes the following balance changes for the Hammer Pump Shotgun, Frenzy Auto Shotgun, Thunder Burst SMG, and Striker AR, alongside adjustments to the in-match economy.

Weapon Balance Changes[]

Hammer Pump Shotgun
  • Fire rate slightly increased
  • Point-blank damage significantly increased
Frenzy Auto Shotgun
  • Point-blank damage increased
  • Mid-range damage increased
Thunder Burst SMG
  • Damage slightly increased
  • Fire rate slightly increased
Striker AR
  • Reduced the range at which damage falloff begins

Economy Adjustments[]

Early Access Development Update[]

About two weeks ago, we asked for your feedback on a range of topics from existing weapons and gadgets to mode timings. So far, in summary, you're asking us for…

  • New maps, weapons, and gadgets
  • Additional starter pistol options
  • Better ways to deal with AFK players in a match
  • New or additional customization options for HUD settings
  • More efficient inventory management

We have new maps, weapons, and gadgets coming soon — bringing more of these to the game is a top priority for the team. In the future, new weapons added to Ballistic will include pistols available for purchase in the starting round.

Another one of the team’s highest priorities right now is addressing AFK players in matches, and we’ll have more to share about this soon. In the meantime, we can confirm that the option to surrender is currently in development, and will likely come to Ballistic in early summer.

We’ve talked together as a team about more HUD customization options for Ballistic, such as crosshair options, as well as ways we might improve in-game inventory management. We are exploring updates in these areas but don't have concrete plans to share right now. We can share that we are planning a change that will better show who on your team has the Rift Point Device and will continue to work on UI/UX improvements like this.

Our other major priority is dialing in the first-person feel and improving the core of how the game handles first-person weapons, which will be reflected in the “Improvements and Fixes” section of each of these blog posts. It’s important that we reduce any hitches that make Ballistic less than a seamless first-person experience.

You can keep sharing your thoughts with us by completing an in-game post-match survey, or by posting on the Fortnite Battle Royale subreddit (which we’re using for Ballistic as well) and the English Fortnite Discord. As Ballistic continues to grow in Early Access, we’ll continue to rely on you to help us shape the overall experience. Right now, we’re specifically looking for feedback on:

  • Existing weapons
  • Existing gadgets
  • Credit economy

In our next blog post, which will be published April 8, we’ll discuss the feedback we received and how we plan to address it.

  • Fixed an issue where a player's rank progression sometimes did not move after winning a Ranked match.
  • Made fixes aimed at reducing crashes.
  • Fixed an issue on mobile where a second “Scoreboard” button appeared on the screen.

The hammer’s about to fall — we’ll see you on the new map on April 8!

Hiya Commanders! The v34.20 update brings Jam Loops into the mix, along with “Hunt the Titan” and Goin’ Constructor seeing some exciting changes. We’ve also squashed a bunch of bugs and are actively working on fixing other issues that have cropped up - check out the details below:

Updates and Improvements[]

Hunt the Titan Mission Revamp[]

The Mist Titan just got more serious! This titanic baddie has stepped up its game, coming armed to the fight with a new Crystal Slam attack and two different modifiers in the final phase to shake things up. The Shield modifier blocks projectiles but can be penetrated if you get close enough. The shield will drop when the Mist Titan attacks so keep an eye out for your opportunity to strike from afar! The Acid Pools modifier will spawn Acid Pools underneath the Mist Titan as it moves around so watch your step! On top of that, the number of tracks you have to... track has been slightly altered in each Phase.

Get Your Jam On[]

Time to get groovy! We’re bringing some serious jam to Save the World. Put down your weapons and pick up your instruments - it's time to rock the Husks away with Jam Loops. Whether you're shredding solos or jamming in a band with up to 3 other players, you’ll be creating some killer beats while defending the Homebase, or whatever your current assignment may be.

PSA: To prevent button mapping conflicts and bring consistency with other experiences, we’ve made some changes to controller binds:

  • Pressing X on Xbox or Square on PlayStation controllers no longer triggers the ‘Back to Homebase’ button - it instead brings up the Jam Tempo menu for the current Jam.
  • To trigger the ‘Back to Homebase’ button, you'll now need to select it first, then press A on Xbox or X on PlayStation controllers (as those buttons are already used to view Mission Stats or invite other players).
  • Instead of pressing/holding X on Xbox controllers to trigger the ‘Edit Loadout’ and ‘Mission Details’ buttons in the Lobby, you'll now be able to do so by pressing left or right analog sticks respectively.
  • The ‘Mission Start’ button has been assigned to Y on Xbox controllers, being in line with Battle Royale button mapping.

Goin’ Constructor Ability Changes[]

  • Increased the movement speed bonus while the Shield is up.
  • The damage reduction effect now persists for a brief moment after lowering the Shield.

Bug Fixes[]

  • Fixed the bug affecting Hover Turret cooldown UI and general use.
  • Fixed an issue causing Heavy Attacks to sometimes deal no damage with certain Melee weapons.
  • Resolved the issue where the Global Daily Bonus Goal completion wouldn’t count towards the Witching Wing Quest Pack progress.
  • Schematics, Heroes, Defenders or Survivors not yet upgraded to the maximum Tier 5 will now show the appropriate number of stars, based on their current Tier.
  • Fixed a bug that sometimes caused the Mist Titan to become stuck in caves and unable to get out.
  • Increased the number of searchable objects in Frozen Fjords and Autumn Foothills zones.
  • The Loot Llama preview now accurately reflects the rewards based on the Llama selected in the ‘Llamas’ tab.
  • Resolved an issue on PS4 where the chat keyboard would unexpectedly appear during the loading screen if the player received a message.
  • Shockwave, Shotguns, Seismic Smash, etc no longer deal blank damage.
  • Sea Wolf Jonesy's second Shockwave now activates consistently.
  • The virtual keyboard is now prompted to open when naming Saved Locker Loadouts in the Save The World Locker, and the input can now be pressed to access it.
  • Fixed an issue causing Sleek Mechanical Parts to render improperly.
  • Appropriately moved the "Slurp Juice" and "Slap Juice" Banners to the "Battle Royale" section, and the "Smog Of War" and "Not Space Rocks" Challenge Banners to the Special (Save The World) section.
  • Tier stars now correctly display in different menus.

Thanks for reading! We’ll be eagerly awaiting your feedback on these updates. 🫡

Undocumented Changes[]

  • Added voiceover to Hunt the Titan featuring Major Oswald as the narrator.
  • Added Roll Landing.
  • Added Flutter and Hotwire to the Collection Book.
  • Added new weekly Quests for Survive the Horde that offer Core RE-PERK!, Hero and Weapon Vouchers, and more.
  • Added wave type callout dialogue for Director Riggs in Survive the Horde.
    • He will now inform players of Smasher waves, etc.
  • Fixed the issue causing the Damage Pulse Modifier to damage Objectives.
  • Removed altitude indicators on the Mist Titan tracks' minimap icon.
    • "To clarify, the minimap indicators never actually showed where the tracks themselves were - they would only lead you to the general zone the track can be found in. With that in mind, the height indicators were removed altogether, as they would only point to the broad location of the tracks (which is already shown)." ?
  • Reduced the Mist Titan's health slightly to compensate for its new modifiers.
  • Up D-Pad is once again the toggle for the map on Old School settings
  • Survive The Horde now selects 3 random objectives from a pool of 10 instead of 4.

Known Issues[]

  • 'Gadget 2' and 'Map' button inputs overlap when using the Old School Controller Binding Preset. ?
    • Fixed on March 26th 2025 at 2:26 PM EST.
  • Placing a Proximity Mine can limit movement and restrict inventory use. ?

New Issues[]

  • Rolling while charging a weapon (such as Third Rail or Zapotron) causes the charging animation to become stuck, preventing the weapon from firing until it is switched away from and back.
  • Using Proximity Mines results in a softlock, preventing most actions and failing to place the mine.
  • Goin' Constructor is not held correctly by the player character.
  • Enemies like Takers, Smashers, Singe, etc in some Dungeons runs are unable to knock players around.
  • Switching from keyboard to controller now displays a small bar above the wall, floor, and stair structure icons in the Quickbar.
  • The Hunt The Titan objective may not function.
  • A battle bus prop in Scurvy Shoals lacks collision.
