Ballistic players,

With our v34.30 update, we asked for your feedback on:

  • The Hammer Fall and Storm Chaser Cove Maps
  • Weapons
  • Gadgets
  • Ranked

Let’s get into how we’ve already addressed some of your feedback, and the feedback we’re looking into for the future!

Feedback Already Addressed[]

Shotgun Shake-Up[]

On April 9, we made some balance changes:

Early Leavers in Test Grounds[]

One of the biggest pieces of feedback we received is that the Test Grounds playlist had a lot of early leavers. This is because many players were primarily interested in checking out the new shell maps.

To address this, we added the new shell maps — Hammer Fall and Storm Chaser Cove — to Ranked on April 9. This way, players looking for serious matches on these maps can hop into Ranked.

At the same time, we want Test Grounds to be a place for players to practice, and early leavers detract from that goal. With this in mind, we made Test Grounds best-of-four instead of best-of-seven on April 9.

We know this didn’t totally solve the problem of early leavers in Test Grounds. We’re investigating some long-term solutions, including potentially changing the gameplay of Test Grounds so that early leavers aren’t as disruptive.

Feedback We’re Looking Into[]

Burst Assault Rifle - A Little Too Much Bang for the Buck?[]

There’s some discussion about the Burst Assault Rifle being too cheap compared to its perceived effectiveness. We’ll be keeping an eye on the data and depending on what we find, we may or may not make a a price change.

Hammer Fall Gates[]

We’ve seen valuable feedback on the ability to open and close Hammer Fall’s interactive gates. These include suggestions to have the doors alternate (as in: when one door closes, another one opens) to prevent forced choke points from Defenders.

However, up to this point, Attackers have a higher win rate in Hammer Fall (more on that in a second!). We’re investigating overall layout changes so that the map can more readily rotate between sites. This potential solution addresses some of the frustration that Attackers have felt, without giving Attackers even more of an edge in Hammer Fall.

Also, we’re exploring making the rotations quicker from one lane to another, further promoting uninhibited and fast-paced gameplay.

Win Rates in Ranked[]

What better way to close out a blog post than with some fun facts? As of April 14, here are the all-time win rates in Ranked:

  • Skyline 10: Attackers 53% / Defenders 47%
  • Hammer Fall: Attackers 54% / Defenders 46%
  • Storm Chaser Cove: Attackers 52% / Defenders 48%

It’s clear based on the data that Attackers have a slight edge in all three maps. We’ll be working on changes (both to the maps and potentially to core gameplay) to get these numbers more even.

Stay tuned for our next blog post, accompanying the next Test Grounds update! (This is planned to be v35.10 👀)
