Fortnite Battle Royale Chapter Seven: Pacific Break - v39.00 Update Notes[]

Chapter Seven: Pacific Break kicks off a new era for Fortnite Battle Royale, where some of the greatest stories are told — the Golden Coast.

While the Battle Bus is out of commission, you'll Storm Surf your way to the Island instead!

New Battle Royale Map - Golden Coast[]

On the Island, explore a sun-soaked paradise on foot, by car, or through the air in new hot air balloons. These locations are your next backdrop:

Sandy Strip
Wonkeeland
Humble Hills
Bumpy Bay
Classified Canyon
And more to explore!

New Battle Pass[]

Purchase the Battle Pass and seek revenge as The Bride, rep the future as Marty McFly, and unlock Fortnite originals like Miles Cross and Cat Holloway...plus a new version of Dark Voyager!

In addition to their other unlockable Styles, the Battle Pass includes special Styles for three of the Outfits: Cat Holloway, Carter Wu, and Dark Voyager (Reality Redacted). You can only unlock these additional Styles by completing Quests in Blitz Royale, Reload, and Battle Royale respectively.

New Loot Pool[]

Weapons & Mobility[]

New weapons are more responsive with layered recoil and smoother ADS transitions. Reload progress is now saved when your magazine is empty. Start a reload, and if you swap weapons or get interrupted, pick up right where you left off!

Iron Pump Shotgun: A new heavy-hitting Pump to usher in a new Chapter.
Twin Hammer Shotguns: Dual-wielded Pump Shotguns that can tear through the competition at close range.
Deadeye Assault Rifle: Scoped, automatic, and built for those who hit headshots at middle-to-long ranges.
Holo Rush SMG: Scoped, fast, and dangerous in tight quarters with a fancy new reload animation.
Vengeful Sniper Rifle: Reaps opponents with bolt-action precision.
Arc-Lightning Gun: Zap players, vehicles, and builds with electricity.
Forsaken Vow Blade: Dash in (or out) faster than with the Kinetic Blade, and unleash a flurry of lightning-fast strikes.

Wingsuits are a featured mobility item this Season. Grab one, launch up, and glide wherever the action takes you. No lessons required!

Unvaults (Everyone Loves a Classic!)[]

The All Terrain Kart returns, along with your usual sports cars and SUVs.
The Enforcer AR, Tactical Pistol, and Dual Micro SMGs are back in the pool.
Bounce in or blast out with Shockwave Grenades and Clinger Grenades.
Heal yourself with:
- Chug Jugs
- Shield Kegs
- Med Kits
- Bandages
- Shield Potions
- Mini Shield Potions
- Zero Build only: Shield Bubble Jrs and Port-a-Bunkers.

Stay in the Game[]

We've added several new features for those totally uncommon moments when you're downed:

Joyride in a Reboot Van[]

Commandeer a Reboot Van like it’s a chase scene! Drivable Reboot Vans have rolled onto the Island, letting you transport your next potential reboot wherever it’s needed.

New Self-Revive Device[]

If a Self-Revive Device is in your inventory, you can revive yourself while Down But Not Out (DBNO).

Knocked? Don’t Stop[]

New DBNO movement options have been added across Fortnite Battle Royale:

Roll & Tumble: Roll to dodge fire or throw yourself down a slope to tumble away from danger.
DBNO Sprint: Move faster while downed by using Energy.
Stay on the Move: While DBNO, you can now use ziplines and ascenders, and even hop into a car’s passenger seat!
Reboot Revive: Crawl, or be thrown, into the back of a Reboot Van to be revived while knocked down

New Gameplay[]

Defeat the Boss, Be the Boss[]

Defeat Human Bill, Hush, or Beach Brutus to claim their loot and powers, and to transform into them! Becoming a boss grants full Health and Shield, bonus max Health and Shield, infinite Energy, and a powerful ability. However, your position remains visible to nearby opponents at all times.

Detecting Anomaly… Things May Not Be Quite As They Seem[]

This Season, each phase of the Storm has a chance to flip the script in real-time. Rift anomalies may summon loot, grant powerful effects to everyone in the match, and more. Expect more rift anomalies to be added and shake things up throughout the Season.

Gold Bar Overhaul[]

To make sure everyone's on equal footing at the start of a match, Bars will no longer carry over from one match to the next. So, spend them before your match ends to reboot your teammates, hire Characters, or grab powerful gear from Vending Machines with a new item stock. Additionally, you will now be able to drop Bars for your teammates to share resources and help your squad succeed.

New Setting: Simple Build[]

New to building? We’ve got you covered (literally). Similar to Simple Edit, Simple Build is an option in the settings (Game > Building) that makes learning how to build simpler. Turn on the setting, look in the direction you want to build, and just… build!

Quality of Life Improvements[]

More Expressive Hitmarkers: Redesigned hitmarkers now provide clearer combat feedback and improved visibility.
Ammo Status Indicators: Weapons in your inventory now clearly display that they're out of ammo.
Jump Shot Capability: Aiming down sights while jumping has been added for more dynamic combat movement options.
Chiller Characters: Characters won’t turn hostile as quickly after accidentally shooting them.
Improved Spectator Mode: When you’re eliminated, you'll now automatically spectate your nearest teammate for better squad coordination.
Emote Wheel Overhaul: The Emote Wheel has been upgraded with a fresh look, expanded capacity (6 → 8 slots), a new Collections view for browsing your full Emote and Jam Track library, and improved sorting and filtering for faster access to your favorites.

Once the Battle Bus is back in commission on December 4, Reload will come back online with the new Surf City map, Blitz Royale will light back up with the new Starfall Island, and Ranked will return. Fortnite OG will return on December 11 with Season 7 and Delulu will return on December 12!

BR, Reload & Blitz Updates - Tuned Into Your Feedback[]

Chapter Seven launched, the Battle Bus was obliterated by The Dark Voyager (and patched back together with bandages, as one does), Reload and Blitz both dropped fresh maps, Jinx, Vi, and Naruto dropped in the Shop recently, and Yuki even dropped a curse word in the game.

As you drop into the weekend and climb Ranked, here’s a rundown of some recent adjustments to keep those Golden Coast vibes high.

Locker & Emote Wheel Improvements 🎡[]

We’ve released a Fortnite patch with improvements to the Emote Wheel and Sorting/Filtering. The grid layout for your Locker and Emote Wheel collections have been improved with less gaps and are now better aligned with items that previously took up too much space.

We also set Filter and Sort to persist every time you re-open the Wheel. Sorting by 'Categories' will help you more quickly access your Favorites list, while sorting 'A-Z' can help navigate through large lists of jam tracks. Set your sort and filter to what works best for you!'

Get Supercharged XP this Weekend! 🔋[]

To celebrate Pacific Break’s launch, players will be granted 5 Supercharged XP levels starting this weekend from Friday, December 5 at 9 AM ET through Monday, December 15 at 9 AM ET to help jump start your Battle Pass progression.

Balance Adjustments ⚖️[]

We’ve made some Battle Royale balance adjustments to keep the Golden Coast golden:

🚑 Reboot Vans now start with a full tank of fuel, and we've lowered fuel consumption while boosting.
- We have noted that Reboot Vans were being dumped more commonly on the map due to low-fuel than we intended.. This change brings their usage in-line with our expectations.

🚗 SUVs and Cars will now spawn with more starting fuel in the tank. Road trip, anyone?
- As above, we see vehicles as an important vessel to help players traverse from location to location and wanted to see their usage for traversal sit a little higher.

🔮 Shockwaves have slightly reduced availability. You'll still find them, just not in every other chest.
- With the Wingsuit and Forsaken Vow Blade already affording exciting new movement opportunities, on top of the above vehicle improvements, we feel that Shockwaves are too common.

⏱️ Self Revive Devices now revive a couple seconds faster. Every second counts when you're down!
- We've noticed that successfully reviving yourself has been rarer than we'd like. This change gives you more of a fighting chance.

📉 Self Revive Devices prices have been reduced in Vending Machines.
- We expected to see higher equip rates of Self Revive Devices, so have slightly tweaked their pricing to reflect this.

🎁 ICYMI: Chests are now more common across the Island!
- We saw your feedback that loot was a little difficult to find in BR matches and, after reviewing loot data, agree and have increased spawn rates.

The Bus Driver is Back, and Storm Surfing Is Staying![]

🩹 The Bus Driver ([we back *****]) has returned to take you to the Island each match! Storm Surfing will still appear some of the time, keeping it a fun change of pace.

We also increased the height that the Wave launches you, giving you more distance to land where you want. Shred it up when the wave rolls in, but most of the time you'll be thanking the Bus Driver.

Reload Updates 🔄[]

We’ve made some adjustments to the Reload loot pool:

Deadeye AR (we increased the drop rate considerably in Surf City)

🔴 Vaulted:[]

In next week’s update, Reload is getting all new Morphite Weapons! These weapons morph as you deal damage to players, getting stronger the more damage you put out. If you've been wanting a reason to stay aggressive in Reload... here it is.

Storm Surfing is also coming to Reload - but only as a chance on Surf City. Other Reload maps will stick with the classic Battle Bus ride.

Blitz Now Has a Map Rotation ⚡[]

We've heard feedback that some Blitz Islands, like The Stranger Things Island, dropped and then changed too quickly. So we've added Map Rotation to Blitz, giving you more opportunities to check out each Island!

Some Bug Fixes Coming In Next Week’s Update 🛠️[]

We’ve seen you reporting these (please keep ‘em coming!) and want to let you know these fixes are on the way, including more not listed here:

Crashes on PC using DirectX 11 as the rendering mode will be fixed. As a temporary workaround, please switch to DirectX 12 or Performance Mode until the fix is released.
Landing vehicles on Hot Air Balloons will no longer occasionally launch you into some other Reality.
Some remaining issues with the Double Edit bug will be fixed. This has been a tough one, so let us know if there’s more to investigate.
Audio Logs will be able to be interacted with properly after being unloaded.
Kingston’s sword will no longer be visible while performing emotes and default poses.
Players will be able to Jam on top of Driveable Reboot Vans again 🤘
The Tag Bag Back Bling will have intended colors and textures.
The Katana Presentation Emote will no longer present a weird non-Katana object.
Players won't be put into a zoomed out camera state after Rebooting.
The "Eliminate players with the Arc-Lightning Gun to spread fear" Dark Voyager Battle Pass Quest will be able to be completed across multiple matches (previously required full progress in a single match).
Kingston will be correctly added to the Collection Book.

Singer, actress, global star, and now Festival Season 12 Icon, LISA comes to Fortnite on November 29 with her music and Outfits!

She’s the main act of the Starlux Music Pass featuring her trendsetting style and energetic “FUTW (Vixi Solo Version)” track.

Streak Counter - We’ve added a Streak Counter beside the note highway to make it easier to track your streak! You can also disable this through the Settings menu if you find it distracting.
Auto-emoting - Your character will now auto-emote during the Results flow! You can configure it to pull from your Favorites, Locker, or disable it entirely from the Settings menu.

⚒️Bug fixes:[]

Quest notifications will no longer be cut off during the Results flow.
Non-Featured and non-Spotlight Jam Tracks included in Festival Setlists will now properly progress Weekly quests.
Bandmate UI should no longer overlap the highway.
Placeholder values should no longer appear in the Leaderboards for Jam Tracks you have not played.
We’ve improved overall gameplay performance, giving you smoother framerates and fewer hitches while you play.

Howdy all! We've made some big updates to how overall progression and Power Rating work in Save the World. These changes are all about making things simpler, more rewarding and creating a smoother experience – whether you’re playing solo or in a group. We’ve also added Simple Build + Simple Edit settings, as well as a refreshed Emote Wheel. Let’s get into it!

Updates, Changes and Improvements[]

Research System Removed[]

F.O.R.T. stats previously earned through Research are now gained automatically as your Commander Level goes up. Expeditions no longer require Research Points to run.

Power That’s Truly Yours![]

Your power now comes entirely from your own Commander Level and loadout. No more depending on who’s currently in your party – your strength is a direct reflection of your personal progress! To balance it out, we’ve made the following adjustments:

F.O.R.T. stat rewards from Commander Level-ups have been greatly increased, making Solo/Duo/Trio play easier. Squad play remains largely unchanged.
Stonewood Missions are now slightly more challenging to keep the action going.
Twine Peaks Missions are now less difficult than before.
With the redistribution of F.O.R.T. stats, teammates leaving mid-Mission no longer reduces your damage, health or shields.

Aside from your total F.O.R.T. stats, Power Rating (displayed at the top left) now also factors in:

The rating of the Heroes in your active Hero loadout
The top three rated weapons in your Backpack

This means your Power Rating now reflects both your progression and loadout choices, not just raw stats.

Note: Ventures remain unchanged and will continue using the previous Power Rating calculation based solely on F.O.R.T. stats.

No More Upgrade Points![]

Gadgets and Tools now unlock and upgrade automatically as you reach specific Commander Levels. Complete Stonewood Storm Shield Defense 3 to unlock Gadget slotting and receive the first levels of Airstrike and Adrenaline Rush.

Simple Build + Simple Edit[]

New to building? We’ve got you covered (literally).

Similar to Simple Edit, Simple Build is an option in the settings (Game > Building) that makes learning how to build simpler. Turn on the setting, look in the direction you want to build, and just… build!

ICYMI: Simple Edit is an existing Building setting that makes the whole building process easier. Just look at the structure you’d like to change and make edits with a single button press!

Emote Wheel Overhaul[]

Fortnite Battle Royale’s updated Emote Wheel is now in Save the World! Features include:

Refreshed visuals
New Emote/Jam Loops Collection menu
Updated Emotes category screen
Improved sorting and filtering for faster access to your favorites

Bug Fixes[]

[Frozen Fjords] T.E.D.D.Y., D.E.C.O.Y. and Shock Tower can again be placed on surfaces where their placement was previously blocked.
[Frozen Fjords] Fixed a visual issue with several containers not disappearing upon opening.
Fixed a visual issue with some Assault Rifles and SMGs displaying incorrect bullet flight trajectory.
Sidekicks now properly path around the Storm Shield device without climbing on top of it or clipping through.
Added the missing Constructor tag to the Epic rarity Lok-Bot Hero.
Archived Jam Tracks no longer appear incorrectly in the Emote Wheel.

Known Issues[]

Completing a Mission may cause Power Rating to be lower than it actually is, potentially locking the player out of higher-level Missions.
This doesn't occur when playing Missions near your Power Rating. Loading into a new Mission or switching to a different Hero Loadout and then switching back should correct it.
The Command Gadgets tab doesn't appear after completing the Storm Shield Defense 3 Mission, preventing players from viewing Gadget Upgrades.
Workaround: Enter a Mission or re-enter Save the World.
Gadget notification doesn't pop up after earning one through level-up.
[Simple Edit] Wall and Roof previews are currently missing when making arches or ramps. Fixed in next game update.
[Simple Edit] UI does not update to reflect the reset after editing a structure.
Directional Jump Pads won’t activate when Phase Shifting onto them.
[Xbox One] Lighting may be missing on the Command and Mission Launch screens.
Ninja Heroes cannot use the Mantis Leap ability consistently.
Soldiers’ Shockwave ability may be locked out if interrupted by player-built ramps, roofs or sloped terrain.
Hotwire's Overcharge Perk may not trigger lightning damage consistently. Releasing and pressing the Attack button again will restart lightning damage.
Constructors' Plasma Pulse grenades may not deploy or damage enemies after the player fires a Bow. Using other weapon types (Melee included) doesn't break the ability's functionality.
The Hero Commander Buckle+ Perk currently provides reduced effective damage as weapon level increases.
The player character may sometimes use an incorrect arm-sweep animation when interacting with world objects.
