Weapon Mods are a feature in Fortnite: Battle Royale. They were introduced in Chapter 5: Season 1. Each weapon mod adds a certain perk to the weapon such as reducing recoil, increasing magazine size, adding magnification when aiming down sights, among others. Weapon mods come in four categories: Optic, Magazine, Underbarrel, and Barrel. They can be obtained at Mod Benches in exchange for Bars. It costs 75 Bars to add or switch any attachment. There is no cost to remove an attachment. The name of the player who modified the weapon will be displayed on the inventory.

Types of Optic Attachments

Default Iron Sights - No modifications.

Red Eye Sight - x1.15 magnification.

Holo-13 Optic – x1.3 magnification.

P2X Optic – x2 magnification.

Sniper Scope - x4 magnification (Enables sniper glare)

Thermal Optic - x2.1 magnification (Togglable Thermal Vision)

Weapon Support

Some weapons cannot use certain mods. Most mod-compatible weapons come with mods already attached, with the number of mods equipped based on the rarity. Uncommon weapons will have one mod, while Rare ones have two mods, Epic ones have three, and Legendary ones have either three or four. The Reaper Sniper Rifle is the only exception to this rule, as it can come with an extra mod. While all weapons ingame can equip mods via UEFN Content Service savedata editing on a published Island you own with the Save Point Device, some weapons don't have the proper rails for the mods leading to the mods floating off the weapon but still functional.

Types of Magazine Attachments

Default Mag - No modifications.

Drum Mag – Increases magazine size (Decreases reload speed).

Speed Mag – Increases reload speed.

Types of Barrel Attachments

This table shows the name and weapons mods of items that can be pre determined in a battle royale game. The rarity above each mod shows at what rarity the weapons get the mod, so if it says Epic the mod does not appear on the Rare or Uncommon guns but does appear on the Legendary Ones

Strategy

	This section outlines a strategy.
	Feel free to add tips, tricks and general advice about the topic.

• It is key to have loadouts that you are familiar with. Otherwise you could end up in a gunfight and not be familiar with your loadout, putting you at a disadvantage.
• It is best to mod your weapons on higher rarities if possible.
• Using the Laser Mod on a Thunder Burst SMG will make it extremely accurate while hipfiring.
• Modding your Assault Rifles with a vertical foregrip will make them more accurate in ADS, which is preferred if your Assault Rifle has an optic.
• Putting a suppressor on long range weapons (Such as the Huntress DMR or Reaper Modular Sniper Rifle) can help you to remain undetected.

• Despite the Modular Ranger Pistol and Modular Combat Shotgun being unable to equip the Speedgrip, it is still able to appear with a Close Quarters prefix, to where it would have no underbarrel attachments equipped.
• Certain Weapon Mods have hidden buffs and debuffs, that are not mentioned in the UI.
  • Weapons with a Drum Mag take a longer amount of time to reload.
  • Weapons with a Suppressor have a slightly increased damage falloff but slightly less bullet spread when crouching and sliding.
  • Weapons with an Angled Foregrip see a decrease in time it takes to enable/disable Canting.
• Weapon Mods were initally intended to be pickups during Chapter 5: Season 1's development and it stayed in the code for every Weapon Mod ever added until now.
• While most of the Weapon Mods are either loosely based on certain real life weapon attachments or completely original in design, the Optics are all designed after the most well known Optics associated with each class.
  • Red Eye Sight is based off the Trijicon MRO.
  • Holo-13 Optic is based off the EoTech XPS2-0, with the button placement modified.
  • P2X Optic is based off the Trijicon ACOG.
  • Sniper Scope is based off the Nightforce NXS 3.5-15x50mm, with a modified MOAR reticle.
