- For Save The World weapons, see Weaponry (Save the World). This page lists all weapons and weapon stats for Fortnite: Battle Royale. A critical hit (aka headshot) deals double the base damage. Shotguns, due to the spread of the weapon, will have varying damage outputs depending on shot accuracy and distance from the target. When comparing damage to DPS, remember that a high damage rating won't always equal a high damage per second due to varying firing rate and reload speeds.
Rarity
While exploring the map, players can discover weapons, each with varying levels of rarity. Stats depend on rarity, ranging from common to legendary. Rarity and its corresponding color, from weakest to strongest, goes as follows:
- Common
- Uncommon
- Rare
- Epic
- Legendary

Strategy Guide
Usage
- The Assault Rifle is arguably the best all-around weapon in the game, being good at short and long-range combat, and excelling at medium-range. It should be the player's go-to weapon if the player is in a position to swap another weapon out.
- Along longer sight lines, firing in bursts or tap-firing single shots can improve overall effectiveness, as consistent fire can make the weapon's degree of spread severe, especially when paired with strafing.
- Crouching with this gun resets its first shot accuracy faster, allowing for more accurate shots. Crouching also reduces its hipfire spread and spread in general.
- The Assault Rifle has a high DPS and excels at breaking enemy structures fast.
- This weapon is most effective at medium range (e.g. 1-2 tiles away from the player/entity) due to its accuracy and decent rate of fire. It can also be used at long range, however, this is less effective because of bloom. A weapon such as a Scoped Assault Rifle or Red-Eye Assault Rifle would be better for long-range usage.
- Close-range usage is sometimes useful to quickly deal damage to players/entities and catch them off-guard, but a Submachine Gun will be more useful for these kinds of engagements.
- It is unwise to challenge players wielding Sniper Rifles, as they can instantly eliminate the player with a single well-placed shot while attempting to whittle away at their health one shot at a time. Instead, close the gap between the enemy by placing some structures to get within a range where sniping isn't nearly as practical.
- Since the Assault Rifle is a hitscan weapon, it is very easy to use since its shots instantly connect with their target rather than having travel time. This makes it especially effective at very long ranges against weapons like the Striker AR or DMR, although these ranges are not ideal.
Countering
- This weapon is good at destroying tiles, so Wood is not a preferred building material for countering an Assault Rifle. Instead, players should use Metal or Stone as a way of blocking an Assault Rifle, as it is harder to destroy these materials.
- A good strategy for countering an Assault Rifle is to move far away from the opponent, especially if you have a Sniper Rifle equipped. Because of the Assault Rifle's bloom, it will make the opponents' shots less accurate.

Trivia
- The Assault Rifle follows suite with other weapons which have received duplicates based on models / reworks.
- The Burst Assault Rifle received a model change after the Striker Burst Rifle was introduced, but the names were kept different and the weapons function differently.
- The Heavy Shotgun got a rework, but was still a separate weapon with a new function but identical name.
- These changes make the Assault Rifle the first weapon to be identical to its original version, but with only a model / icon change.
- The Assault Rifle is used for the applied Wrap model for every wrap in the game, to showcase how it looks on something within the game, instead of a flat texture.
Visuals
- The Assault Rifle is modeled after the Belgian FN SCAR-L.

Trivia
- In Chapter 2: Season 8, the Assault Rifle was the only weapon to have never been fully vaulted. This was changed in Chapter 3: Season 1, when the Assault Rifle was fully vaulted after 18 Seasons. It still holds the record for being the longest-lasting weapon in Battle Royale without being fully vaulted.
- The Common Assault Rifle was previously vaulted in Chapter 2: Season 6, before later being unvaulted at the beginning of Chapter 2: Season 7.
- Despite being Vaulted in all core modes, the Assault Rifle was still available in Battle Lab until Chapter 3: Season 4 by killing a Bot, as they still carried a Common Assault Rifle by default.
- The Assault Rifle was the first weapon to have all five rarities available, alongside the Heavy Assault Rifle.
- The Assault Rifle was the First weapon that could have been sidegraded - alongside the Heavy Assault Rifle (Which could have been sidegraded into an AR and vice versa).
- When the Legendary Assault Rifle is used in Crafting, it mistakenly uses the Chapter 1 visuals for the weapon. This only appears in the box showing what the weapon will be transformed into.
- Consuming the Midas Flopper grants a Legendary Assault Rifle, regardless of whether the player had an Assault Rifle in their inventory beforehand or not.
- In Update v16.30 Mythic stats for the Assault Rifle were added, although they don't have the increased fire rate unlike Skye's Assault Rifle. With Orelia's Assault Rifle being added the very next patch, it is likely her Assault Rifle was planned to be Mythic at some point in development.
Visuals
- The Assault Rifle's model is based on the American M4 Carbine.
- The Epic and Legendary rarities were formerly based on the Belgian FN SCAR-L.
- The model for the Epic and Legendary rarities were changed to the M4 Carbine, most likely to prevent confusion, as the Chapter 4 Assault Rifle uses the visuals of the SCAR-L.
- However, its Mythic version, Skye's Assault Rifle, still uses the SCAR-L model.
- The Chapter 1 icon for the low tier Assault Rifle had its front sight mistakenly modeled backward, with this model still used in promotional material.
- The Weapon also included a skull and crossbones emblem on the right-hand side of the weapon, as well as a shorter magazine.
- The Chapter 1 icon for the high tier Assault Rifle was appropriately 'battle scarred', showing clear wear on the weapon's body.
- The front and rear sights of the weapon were previously much more exaggerated, showing larger protruding elements, rather than the current straighter ones.
- In Fortnite: Save the World, the Breacher uses the Chapter 1 Visuals for the Assault Rifle.

- — In-Game Description
Grenades are an Explosive Weapon in Fortnite: Battle Royale. They were added in the Pre-Season.
Functionality
Grenades are thrown by the player using the arc provided. Once thrown, the grenade starts a three second timer. After the three seconds is up, the grenade will explode, dealing damage in a small radius around where it stopped moving / detonated.
Grenade explosions will not set off other grenades in the area prematurely, and grenades cannot be 'cooked' by holding on to them before throwing.
If a grenade is thrown into water, it will remain stationary until it explodes.
Stats
Grenades deal 40 damage.

Strategy Guide
- if you place on marker on the enemy go to the top of the marker and then go down you can almost always get a hit
- Grenades are very good for attacking a player who is repeatedly building, as lobbing several grenades at their structure will not only weaken it / destroy it, but it has the potential to eliminate the player afterwards.
- Understanding how far a grenade will go after it has been thrown before detonating allows a player to effectively control exactly where a grenade will explode, rather than dealing with the potential bounces and rolling of a thrown grenade.

The Grenade is referred to as Athena Grenade in the files.

Trivia
- Grenades are a different item to the projectile shot from a Grenade Launcher. They also cannot be used as Ammunition for said weapon.
- The thrown model for the Grenade not only has the pin still in, but also the lever, which means the Grenade wouldn't detonate at all in reality.
Note: we forgot to change the impulse grenades and the shockwave grenades, impulse grenades were vaulted, shockwave grenades were unvaulted.
