XP Coins were a mechanic in Fortnite: Battle Royale that gave you certain amounts of XP, based on the color. Rather than being an item or something a player could pick up, a player would have to run through them to collect them. XP coins were introduced in Chapter 2: Season 1 and removed in Chapter 2: Season 6. New XP coins were added every week. Purple XP Coins would burst in 10 fragments, with a bonus amount of XP for collecting them all.
There are four types of XP coins, each giving different amounts of XP.

- Usually XP Coins have a theme based on the season.
- For example, Gold XP coins could have been found at Marvel locations in Chapter 2: Season 4, and they can be found in old locations in Chapter 2: Season 5.
- Also, the feature of the blue XP coins change every season. For example, in Chapter 2 Season 4 they were found inside objects, requiring you to break said object to collect the coin.
- Green XP Coins are the only XP Coins to have been in Chapter 2 Season 1. All other XP coins were added at the start of Chapter 2 Season 2.
- XP Coins have had the amount of XP change a lot over time.
- Green XP Coins went from 6,250 XP in Chapter 2 Season 1, to 450 in Chapter 2 Season 2, to 5,000 in Chapter 2 Season 3 - Chapter 2: Season 5.
- Blue XP Coins were 600 XP in Chapter 2 Season 2, then remained at 6,500 from Chapter 2: Season 3 - Chapter 2: Season 5.
- Purple XP Coins gave 125 XP per fragment in Chapter 2: Season 2 (a total of 1,250 XP), then remained at 850 per fragment from Chapter 2: Season 3 - Chapter 2: Season 5.
- Gold XP Coins were originally 2,000 XP in Chapter 2: Season 2, and then remained at 15,000 from Chapter 2: Season 3 - Chapter 2: Season 5.
- For whatever reason, XP Coins had a huge drop in the amount of XP the coins actually gave you in Chapter 2 Season 2 before shooting back up the next season.
